I dunno if you’re straight or not but I appreciate how you review gay books the same as you do straight books. I came out during the mid 00s and the idea that a potentially straight woman could read a book about lesbians and not as some weird dare or like with gross fascination just brings me joy. Thanks bronado! 🤜🤛

Hey! I know you didn't ask but it's me, I'm the straight girlie who will happily enjoy anything sapphic! I was the token straight girl in a group of LGBTQ+ people in high school and still listen to a lot of wlw music and whilst I haven't read that much recently (4 books last year and on my 3rd so far this year 😅) I would fully enjoy a gay romance. I sound like I'm trying to tout my allyship, I'm really not, just want to affirm to you that we exist ❤

instead of just hating/eye-rolling on books that are so ridiculous and objectively stupid, i’ve started reading them with the mindset of ‘this is the kind of godsend material lexi would be pulling so many quips and commentaries out of in her video summaries’ and suddenly my reading experience becomes exponentially more bearable and entertaining. the book i recently read where i implemented this was “stay with me” by nicole fiorina, which i picked up from booktok thinking it was gonna be wholesome. from the premise i knew it was kinda outlandish but still i took my chances - like c’mon it’s essence was abt an emotionally void girl learning to form genuine human connection, or so i thought… the more i delved into the book (and the rest of the trilogy), i realised there is only sm disbelief one could suspend. the plot progressively became SO unserious. while i could’ve simply been petulant by how far off my reading expectations were met, i shifted to my lexi-inspired mindset and so i was able to maintain being a hater but this time the joke’s not on me bc i enjoyed myself in finding entertainment amongst the absurdity of it all (that being said, the book also got pretty problematic - it’s one of those books that kinda takes itself seriously, making it all the more icky tbh but ig this further provides the grounds for important discussions/addressals too lol). personally, i’ve only read the first book but after skimming the second and third, it’s safe to say the plot got even more unhinged. i’m sure there are tons of book recs for videos you already receive but if i could offer an extra option, it would be this. regardless, lexi your book summaries are all bangers (whether these wrap-up kinds or the movie length kinds lol). every time you open/close your videos wishing us to take care of ourselves, i genuinely feel appreciated. so in the same vein, i (as am sure the rest of the newlynova community) send lots of love your way, wishing the best for your mental health and wellbeing during this treacherous time 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕

one of the biggest struggles for me since i began really getting into reading was the underlying pressure i put on myself to finish a book fast. i made myself think that once i start a book i have to finish it in like less than a week or else i didnt really count as an actual reader. ive been in an off and on book slump for the past month and getting through a 6 book series is very difficult, especially for the fact that i only want to read one book at a time and i wouldnt let myself start another book without finishing the series. i try my best to not let this mentality affect how i enjoy a book because the book series im reading is still truly amazing, i just keep having no effort to finish reading, leading to going days without touching my book.
@newlynova8 ай бұрын
yeah this is real, i also struggle with reading things quickly enough (and with not finishing books i don't like). but reading will be there for you when you have time. it is not a race!! and sometimes it can be better to absorb things over a longer period of time - it gives them room to breathe
