Hey Bre I only found you this past month. I live in Kansas (Lenexa) and do a lot of the same things in gardening as you. Will be fun to watch and see if we are doing the same plants etc at the same time this year.

Tip. For the small colorful pots put a thick piece of cardboard on the bottom before you use them. Then, when your starts are ready to move push up from the bottom with the eraser end of a pencil. You're very organized.

For the small colorful pots...why not drill large-ish size holes in the bottoms so you can more easily push the plants out?

Im jealous,, id love to have all those pots and trays that you have. Especially those small colored ones. I plant different varieties of peppers and i could just plant a different variety in a different color. And i barely heard about the soil blocks this year,, ill probably try them for next year. GREAT VIDEO 🌹👍👌

For those whose seed starting is banished to cold basements but your budget does not have room for grow tents, use mylar emergency blankets taped around the shelf (or use clothespins). They reflect the lights and hold in heat!

Hi Bre! Thank you for this tutorial on the soil blocking. For your seed starting video I wondered what are the benefits of the tent set-up. Also, I would like to start mine in the basement as well. Can I start them in a room with windows and close the blinds or should the room be completely dark except for times the lights are on? Thank you again for sharing all that has been helpful for you!

Ive done it in both a room that was lit by sunlight and now in my basement. My lights stay off minus my grow lights and Ive never had any issues

I'm in 7b so next weekend I could plant my onions directly outside. I already started kale and broccoli outside last weekend. I grew up in Washington state so it's still totally bizarre to me after gardening in 7b for 6 years, lol. I actually grew up near Walla Walla and I'm curious to see how those onions do for you. I have no hope of them growing here but maybe I could get my hands on Vidalia onions which taste almost the same. I love the idea of using a sprayer for watering the seedlings. I will have to get one and write WATER WATER WATER all over it so my husband doesn't fill it with permethrin or something else yucky.

Hey Bre , did u have to bring your seedings closer to the Barrina grow lights so they wouldn’t stretch? Or are they bright enough that the seedlings didn’t stretch ?

Seed starting mix has no nutrients. So if you use it you’ll have to up pot or fertilize within the first 2 weeks. It’s soft and fluffy and chunk free, so it is nice if you are using the tiny soil blocker for germinating seeds.
@itsbreellis
