I like a grinder, but Sabine is a nightmare grinder. It's definitely not a place I'd like to fish. You're staying positive and you plan made sense. Hang in there bud, better days are coming!!!

Thanks for bringing us along. Enjoying the content. For the “wannabe’s”. I think you give exact detail of how challenging the top tier is. If you get bored the “walleye channel” has been posting some nice nighttime Tennessee Topwater Walleye to enjoy.

Some winding bait specialists I think, the Todd Castledine kinds of angler. Are all at the top of table. At Sabine. For example Larry Nixon, Joey etc. Stetson Blaylock problem said it best. More fish there than one thinks, many of the fish don't bite. It's reactionary type of deal. Not ideal for Okkahoma pitchers and flippers. Unless one is willing to leave that stuff in the rod locker. At least this time of year. And unless one is prepared to downsize and slow ones lure considerably in these situations. One won't ever encounter any significant game changer kinds of fish. All if the anglers there at Orange in TX, are all over sized on their lures. Weight in small amounts on small baits. Equals slower speed. Which is what one wants to displace water, with a small lure. Get reaction strikes. An Oklahoma guy with a striped down, beaten up spinning lure. For instance. Clearly Scott Martin never put that in his hand today.

The trend that I see happening. I could be wrong about this. Is what I don't see. In the season of some anglers. On the Bassmaster Elite competition circuit in 2,023. I don't see anglers who are truly willing to leave almost half of their tackle behind. And in particular the aspects of their toolkit. Which they are most accustomed and used to. And dispense with it altogether. In favor of changing to something completely different. To what they are used to doing. That's the hardest aspect about fishing a real national or continent wide sort of circuit. That is the Bassmaster Elites. It is not a large fishing competition. Which lasts most of the year. The Bassmaster Elite series. Is actually nine different short term competitions. Which only last a week at a time. And that is only if one makes the cut lines each time. Generally speaking it is nothing more for many anglers. Than a series of nine 'five day' events. One of which bears no relationship. High up or low down. To the other one.

While the comepetition format of the Bassmaster Elites is such. One has to counter that situation. With a ruthlessness and willingness. To throw a lot of things out at each stage of the nine 'short' competitions. Which are each standalone and like their own thing. One has to throw a lot of thiings out, and become willing to adopt some other thing. And that is what many anglers would not be capable of doing. That is the thing that I don't see with some anglers. In the Bassmaster Elite. A ruthlessness and capability. To leave stuff behind. Which they will not need. When one goes from one situation to the next. In some sense what can happen then. Is generals end up always 'fighting the last war'. Trying to solve some problem which they had identified. In the last place. And which they are unable to get out of their system. It lingers and drags on. And I would imagine that extends to even fishing rods and lines. Where the ideal piece of equipment in one situation. Might not be relevant at all. At the next location. That is what is difficult for Elite Anglers too. Is they become locked in to using a product or a brand. All year long. And it could work against oneself. In terms of how one confronts that requirement. To abandon more things, than one carries on. From one event to the next.
