Everything Right and Wrong With Pikmin 2

Pikmin 2 has a bit of a mixed reputation. You have fans who love it t try o the point where it’s their favorite Pikmin game, and you have others that don’t like it for many reasons. But where do I fall in that regard? Let’s find out.

Fun fact after Pikmin 4 demo: there is actual level desing, there are no falling rocks and the visuals are more "original". So they are not as bad as in pikmin 2

That's a relief, but then again, it was just the demo. Maybe the later caves will have rocks raining from the sky.

5:49 THANK YOU! I do not understand why the day night system is even in pikmin 2 and 4. Because there’s no day limit in those games, you being forcibly dragged back to the base and having to go through dialog boxes and stuff just so you can get back to where you were is really annoying because there’s no reason for it to be happening. It feels like the only reason the day and night system are in those games because the other games have it

Last one but Pikmin 2 is easily my least favorite Pikmin game, purely because of the caves. Also the switch port way less charming because the treasures aren’t based off of real things and instead are made up. I get why because licensing, but I feel like that was kind of the point of the original and it was way more charming to find like a 7-up bottle cap, skippy peanut butter, duracell. Also I’m kind of worried about Pikmin 4 since there are caves in it, but it’ll probably be way better. This game is the one i rarely replay. It’s just too frustrating for me

After watching the previous episode, I was intrigued by the story that it had. I wouldn't mind playing this series; when I get the motivation to do so. Speaking of Nintendo, I really like what was shown at the Direct earlier today, even though I don't have the money for it all.

Pikmin 2 is my least favorite game in the franchise I really don't understand why everyone else loves it when this game is very frustrating especially the caves they break the core foundation of the franchise and are poorly design. Bottom line pikmin 3 deserve more love than this one

This was even better than the first video. Also I want to point out something about Bulbear being able to come back to life. While I can understand why the Gatling Groink can come back to life sense they are partally mechanical and I think the Piklopedia also points this out, but for Bulbear I don't really understand sense in the first game they didn't have this ability and they gain it in the secon which can make sense because you know evolution, but than they lose that ability in the thired game which doesn't really make sense in-universe. Any ways loking forword to the Pikmin 3 video.

Pretty simple reason as to why Bulbears can come back to life: they don’t die. I don’t think there’s footage in the video, but if you look closely when you ‘kill’ a Bulbear or a Groink, there’s no soul that leaves the body. So the beast isn’t dead, it’s just unconscious.

Pikmin 2 is definitely my least favorite in the series. I even think there’s an argument that hey pikmin is better than it. It’s mainly the caves that I don’t like. Caves have a really ugly look and they just throw so much random bullshit at you like falling bombs and rocks from the sky. I’m not an expert on video games or anything but to me it feels like bad game design. Despite it being my least favorite in the series I still like the game. It’s just my least favorite but unlike pikmin 1 and 3 I can’t see myself replaying the game anytime soon. I also don’t like how they decided to bring caves back for pikmin 4. They’re not nearly as bad there but I definitely prefer pikmin without caves

Hey Tony, I noticed that a lot of you're negative points are similar to the ones Schaffrillas Productions made in his Pikmin 2, but worded differently which I personally am fine with. The reason I bring this up is because one person by the name of Hiding in Private made a video that went over the problems that Schaff had with the game and pointed out inconsistentsies in the video. Schaff himself actualy promoted the video in a community post and even admitted that some of the critisism he had with the game, while ment to be subjective, came of as objective due to the type language he used. The reason I brought this up is because this kind of makes you're video flawed sense a lot of you're negative points against the game are similar to the negative points Schaff made in his video about the game. This isn't me trying to accuse you of plagerizam or anything if thats what this comment made you or anyone else who read it think by the way.

A lot of my points were similar to Schaff's because I felt almost the exact same way playing Pikmin 2. I also saw that response video, and it did not change how I viewed Pikmin 2. Literally none of his arguments actually made me appreciate Pikmin 2 more, and he definitely gave off the feeling of, "I love Pikmin 2 so I'm gonna prove your opinion is wrong". I still greatly dislike a lot of what Pikmin 2 has, and if he or anyone else wants to argue with me on that, fine. I'm open to discussion, but if he pulls those same points on me, it's not gonna work.

5:28 There actually is a reason stated in the manual for why time freezes in a cave: apparently the magnetic field of the planet is stronger down here and it messes with time. Even though magnets don’t work like that to my knowledge.

That's... odd. I feel like something like that should be more upfront in the game, and even then, the planet is an apocalyptic Earth. Earth's magnets don't work like that.

@@DahHourglass Oh please. Olimar losing the Dolphin wasn’t what caused Olimar to drop the cap. It was his shock of how big their debt was. Even if the Dolphin wasn’t sold off, Olimar probably would’ve dropped the cap anyway. Besides, my sin had NOTHING to do with Olimar dropping it. If I had said, “Oh, how convenient that Olimar dropped that bottle cap right after the Dolphin was taken away.”, maybe you’d have a point, but that’s not at all what my point was. The sin was ACTUALLY about how the Dolphin was just taken away after working so hard to get it back together in the first game. You’re obviously reaching for anything to make me look bad.
