I had an opportunity to see, and meet her after her appearance at club in Richmond VA back in for a New years eve party in 1988, while stationed in VA. I wasn't aware of her early life as a comedian, and the nasty mouth she had. It was a very funny show! R.I.P Aunt Ester!!!

I doubt that was her mother. I think the creator of the video just chose random pics for the parents. If LaWanda was born in 1920, that photo which looks like is from the 60s is too modern for that to be her mother.

I met Lawanda through a friend back in 1986.Went to her home number of times. She was extremely funny in person and really good looking without (what she called) "that Esther makeup" (Look at her photo at the 11:00 mark) The first time I met her was at her home right after she got hurt in a movie. She had a medical bed in the back part of her house. She started to get up from it then realizing she was only wearing a robe, stopped and said 'Oh Evan look over there (pointing at the other side of the room) I didnt see anything of special interest that way so I said "Why"? She said "Cause I aint lettin you look at MY Pu**y"! I was shocked it was so funny. Then she said "Well not before we get liguored up anyway go in there and get us a beer." Hilarious!
