Damn, I'm so glad that AR and Glass tech is coming to the forefront of the phone world. Just imagine how many groceries you can carry while still using your phone! hey andy, great video! but now, my question is … do they have software in this glasses for deaf people to able read subtitles/captioning while whoever a hearing person talks? it would be so awesome for deaf community! i also am deaf as well, im looking forward to see what you has to say about this!

Remember , these are going to be work glasses, and the first gen will be monochrome green. I suspect it will be a better experience when they have the color displays later this year.

That's a great question, I am not sure about the system, but they certainly could make work easier than a hand scanner.

Full color is expected to be out by the end of the year. Green is for the first release and works real well in industrial environments.

Vuzix team obviously hear you, just think about 360 view in front of your eyes, that open a new world of easy software abilities with a low cost hardware redesign, I want that vuzix kick the competition.. just like that.

Alright, this form factor, prescription lens availability, and it works with android, if that means you can watch KZbin with them I think I found my favorite piece of tech. Two grand is a lot of money to pay for something, but dang this might actually be worth it.

Thanks for the Video, but the main Questions are: 1. Is green the only color for the display? 2. What kind of menu you'll get? (Navi, Textmessages, KZbin, Notes, perhaps a mirror of your smartphone)????

1) right now the display is green only (best for work environments) full color will be out later this year. 2) the menu is the one thing I still don't know about. Will share when I see it for sure.

Yeah, they are pretty light. The side rails have some length to them so they balance on the head nicely. Definitely could wear them for a while.

Yeah but are the microLED displays only green? I would definitely buy this if I'm able to use apps in full color. I've previously owned the Blade and loved how I could stream videos. It would kinda suck if I'm paying such an amount for glasses that can't accomplish what the cheaper blade can

The first version of the shields are aimed at industrial work, like smart safety glasses, that is why they are monochrome. The colored versions will be out later this year, of more likely (supply chain) early to mid next year)

@@apeacock interesting.. do you know whatever happened to the Vuzix Next Gen smart glasses that was supposed to release in 2021? I find that the Next Gen glasses and the Shield look very similar. I wonder if they scratched the Next Gen for the Shield because of engineering issues

Not even close, they need stabilization first. People don't realize your eyes are one of the greatest stabilizations

I have found Vuzix' lack of communication absolutely ridiculous. I am a shareholder and cannot squeeze a word out of them. None of my emails are answered and all they do is send me cookie cutter promo shit. These were supposed to be in people's hands summer of LAST year. And not pushing for consumer release as soon as possible? That's gonna kill them. They are the only company who has product ready to go but they just won't take it to market.
