I've been doing a re-watch of season 7-in episode 8 "Hearts Still Beating" Michonne actually uses the phrase while speaking to Rick, "we're the ones who live." not once, but twice!

I'm rewatching the entire og series atm showing my Mum for the first time and we just watched that episode last night and i noticed that lol i thought to myself "huh interesting thats where they got the name for the new show from".

In season 5 when Rick is fighting Pete he asks Deanna and the alexandrians if they want to live because his group are the ones who live. Then michonne says in after Spencer dies. Then in the next episode after Rick and michonne kill a hoard with a wire tied between two cars she whispers it to him to calm him down. THEN in the finale of season 7 michonne is struggling to say the entire phrase while fighting with the junkyard sniper. THEN when Rick finds michonne all beat up she says “we’re…..we’re the ones” and Rick stops her and says yeah we are we will. Then in season 11 Judith mentions that her mom had a secret phrase she would share with Rick that she was to scared to say out loud. Then when she wakes up in the hospital after being shot she tried to say it again and then the final words of the show are the entire cast saying and then Judith finally being able to say the words.

Fir those who have watched all 11 seasons of TWD, and want a better understanding of the Civic Republic, and why rick was taken, I highly recommend watching the 2 seasons of walking dead world beyond BEFORE the ones who live. It helps to explain how Jadis fits in, and what the republics purpose is

The helicopter in season 1 was confirmed to be the army guys the governor killed

That was a different helicopter. The army unit was in a military helicopter, which was bigger. The helicopter that Rick saw flying over Atlanta was smaller. It looked like a news helicopter in size.

World Beyond on AMC+ in my opinion is important to watch before the ones who live..i have a feeling were gonna see a few of them in the series

It’s literally the only show that gave an in depth view of what the CRM were up to. It’s a perfect set up as you say and never got the credit it deserves in terms of the overall story for which now people will realize it played a huge part in progressing the story.

I just watched the show, the whole series, in one fell swoop. Took about 6 weeks. Loved it! Wish I could wait and save up the next episodes, but will have to watch this Sunday.

FtWD had it's own contribution - the gal who fell in love with a helicopter woman and was taken away. Perhaps she'll show up, too. I can't remember her name, but she was the great character who videoed everyone's stories.

I invested so many years into watching this show that I owed it to myself to finish it. So I did a few months ago and now I’m watching the spin offs and I like them a lot. Especially the Daryl show

Dead City is very much connected due to the fact that they are in New York, remember CRM have bases in NY and all over the U.S. so there is a connection a small one but a connection nonetheless

I’m really curious about the last shot in the new trailer for The Ones Who Live at the end with Michonne looking up and smiling because from what she’s wearing, her clothes seem to be being winded pretty heavily standing still. I wonder if she looks up and sees Rick in a CRM helicopter? Giving her hope of “ok I know where Rick is now” ?

I respect everyone’s opinion. That being said, a lot of the hate I see from the walking dead consists of like 1-1.5 seasons (6-7.5 or maybe to the end of 8) and decisions made by one man(Scott Gimple). You can not like this show but I feel like people are extremely critical of this show while not being nearly as critical with other shows of the same caliber. I’m biased tho cause this is my favorite show.

Did ya'll notice that Rick was like kinda yelping in fear when the helicopter was bopping around. And Michonne was just stoney and in deep thought right next to him. I just thought that was pretty funny. Here he is scared to crash and then she yanks him right out.

I have been there from episode one of TWD! Have to admit I missed out on Dead City. Absolutely loved Daryl Dixon. Hope that Rick and Michonne's is multi season. Just don't see how they will wrap up everything in six episodes without short siding the other spinoffs. Your recap was great. Brought back some forgotten memories. Enjoyed it alot!

I stopped watching because Carol and Maggie used to annoy the shit outta me...picked it back up and continued watching at the end of Season 9, I think? Ended up picking the series back up a couple weeks ago and just finished it...really glad I did & obviously can't wait for Those Who Live to premiere tonight!

We‘ve seen what the normal crm does in world beyond with gasing the communities and whatnot, i cant imagine what this special corp is supposed to do if the normal soldiers did stuff like that 😅😅

I so agree. Dead City, Darryl Series, and now the Ones who Live all have better writers and actors. These are true TWD spin offs and since all were connected to the show by the actors and writers, there is no comparison to the mediocre Beyond and that other series with Terry. I can't wait for The ONes who Live and I do hope Rick once he finds Michonne or she finds him will also find his kids and Morgan so they all can have a happy ending.

I stopped watching after Rick left the show. Finally did a rewatch last year and did it all the way through and I actually loved it all the way through, the show really is at its best for me when Rick is on it though. So very excited for TOWL

So unpopular opinion but i didnt care all that much for Dead City. It honestly pretty slow and forgettable for the most part. I did enjoy seeing Negan being Negan again but honestly i wouldve much preferred a miniseries dedicated to Negans life after Lucielle died and how the Saviors came to be, because there are so many things i wanna know how they came to be, such as why did everyone decide to start calling themselves Negan or how and why did the whole kneeling in Negans presence start

I really don’t know why the introduction of Negan turned people away. Yeah it was an intense scene, but this is a horror show. And let’s be honest, Ricks group did a lot worse to Negan’s group in the episodes leading up to it. I feel like this is when people started to become very woke 😂

I know I'm 12 days late. But I think it'd be cool, if they did the spin offs. And it shows everyone meeting again. Then they kick the walking dead off again with Season 13. More action packed, France attacking Rick and the community. And continuing from there. It'd bring the story to life again. But I know it won't happen. Just a thought.

AMC is Banking the future of TWD on Season 1 of TOWL. That said, we will be seeing a single season that spans the 10years he’s been gone. I don’t want that necessarily, but if they do it right, Season 2 will be the crossover season. Think of TOWL as the avengers movies. We will continue to have standalone projects but they will all continue to converge storylines in TOWL just like the Avengers.
