When I was in college, I had a trigonometry professor who really cared. I had a hard time in that class and would end up in tears every day. He asked me what I wanted to do with my life, and I told him I just wanted to get married and be a mom. He advised me to quit college. He told me to take some cooking classes and that I was pretty enough to bag a rich husband. He told me to get a job at a country club or something. Sounds sexist, but at the time it made perfect sense. That is exactly what I did. A year after that conversation I was a wife, and a year after that I was a mother. 30 years later..... still married, still just a housewife. Best advice I ever got!

I'm 36. I remember in middle school having to get parents to sign a permission slip to see a Harry Potter movie (due to witch craft). That was only 23 years ago and now you can choose your gender without having to tell the child's parents in California. EDIT- Since this might be seen due to a lot of likes (thank you) by Candance I'd just like to thank you personally for being such a bright light in a very dark world. The whole drake and diddy situation, the covid vaccines, the nuclear war is good talk something is happening and I feel it as well. Good vs Evil. I've been away from the church for 18 years but I'm back. I can't ignore so much evil and not believe in Satan. Which means Jesus is real there is good vs evil and we're seeing it play out. STAY SAFE,STAY STRONG may JESUS BLESS THE WORLD 🙏🇺🇲✝️

I am a US citizen originally from Germany who served in the army, and I deeply appreciate your efforts in raising awareness. Since WWII, Germans have often felt constrained from speaking out due to concerns that others will bring up Hitler and nationalism as symbols of evil that Germans must perpetually bear. It saddens me to witness how poorly my homeland is sometimes treated, particularly regarding President Biden's terror attack on the Nord Stream pipeline. From 2021 to 2023, I lived in Germany to care for my mother during the coronavirus pandemic, which significantly complicated life for my family and friends. I'd also like to mention a point made by Tucker Carlson during his visit to Australia. He noted that there are no foreign soldiers stationed in the US because it is a sovereign nation. By that logic, Germany, which has been under US occupation since 1945, will forever remain a slave satellite state to Washington, D.C. I am a fan of your channel and encourage you to keep up the excellent work. Sincerely, Joseph Wojtkowiak

@@josephwojtkowiak3555 If you believe that where are you from and whom are you talking to has anything to do with the fact that Germany is an equal among others member of NATO and could at any time have the US bases vacated, you're entitled to your opinion. And if your family and the locals feel that Germany today is a slave state to America, I wonder which part of Germany your family and the locals are local to. Am I wrong suspecting that it's the erstwhile West Germany? Because in my experience, those who were condemned to 40 years in the Eastern Germany know what being a slave satellite to a foreign master really means all too well to make so silly a claim about the US presence on their soil.

She was a German immigrant to the USA. This is what she told us; “I was 9 years old when the Russians came to our town after the war. I remember the panic of my mother and aunt. You could feel it in the air. We had heard that you were lucky if the Americans or British came. Not the Russians. The stories of rape and murder.” She went on to relay how they hid and eventually escaped the town. It was heart breaking. (I’m a Navy Brat. I know not only the Russians committed atrocities) My dad was a Vietnam veteran. I learned the truth about that war too. We need to stop killing each other on behalf of cooperations who don’t give a shit bout us!

There are so many angles to WWII, Candace. As a Polish person whose grandparents lived through the horrors of that war, I wish there was more focus on the biggest victim of the WWII - Poland. We were stripped of everything, our country was completely destroyed, 6 million Polish citizens were killed, our allies abandoned us at the very beginning, and yet we never stopped fighting. Not to mention what happened after the war... We were 'sold' to the Soviets. Our land was taken away from us forever. There have never been any reparations and to this day, there isn't a single Polish family who have not lost at least one family member in those atrocities. I encourage everyone to look into the history, and to notice my country and its sacrifice during the second world war. God bless you, Candace, and keep up the great work!

I have for a very long time, admittedly, sneered at Candace as a conservative talking head, but given her stance on Israeli genocide, I've been so impressed. But this episode just took my breath away. I was born in California and my mother and her family are 3 of these 12 million German people, who were deported and stripped of everything in the ethnic cleansing. My grandfather was from Czechoslovakia and my grandmother was from Hungary (turned Yugoslavia and now Croatia) and coincidentally they met in the same refugee camp in Linz, Austria as Norman Finkelstein's mother and father. My grandmothers family were murdered when being told to "go home" to Yugoslavia. Half of my grandfathers family were sent to Austria, the other half to communist East Germany. Everything you mentioned happened to them or people they knew: forced labour, living under bridges, starving, mass suicides -- only to end up behind the Iron Curtain. The relatives didnt see eachother for 60 years until the wall fell. I live back in Austria and only here can you find monuments or a plaque about our people. No one believed me when i told our story in school or university in the US. Even "genocide scholars" in New York never heard of it or were even shocked and offened when it would be suggested that suffering wasnt limited to the Jews. Long story short -- Candace; I am sorry for having ever sneered. You are a pioneer and you have a new supporter in me.

This is an interesting material, but historically is lucking information one can obtain in Eastern Europe easier. Especially if it comes from those who participated in WWII as a volunteer,like my father. Fascism was quickly approaching Europe,and Hitler with no doubt was invading countries with military force, cruelty, and no barriers at all. With no doubt this war could've ended with capitulation of some european countries and millions deaths. What Stalin did is ,he managed to put an end to this.Dont forget that Hitler entered Soviet Union,it is not Stalin who triggered the conflict. And UK and USA were his allies. Fascism was brutal!!! Saying this in school we were tought that German nation also suffered, it is Hitler and the fascists who are to blame We were a very close country to Germany, and the WWII we continued our relationship economically and culturally. I even choose to study German as a foreign language at school. I wish I kept my history book from school to show today's generation what we were tought at the 70s, as booked are now indoctrinated per EU,UK,USA model. I’m Sicilian American (My grandparents moved out of Sicily to America right after WWII). I just learned from some relatives that the mafia got way worse after America / the allies won the war, because the US literally sent back mafia leaders that had been detained in the US to go and reawaken the mafia in Sicily so that they could have more control over the area. Ever since then, the mafia has been a serious problem still in Sicily. When I went there in 2022, they were mourning the loss of a local 22 year old who had been k*lled by the mafia. Mussolini was a bad man, but one thing he did do was crack down on the mafia, and the US + CIA are the ones that brought the mafia back to terrorize Sicily.

I’m 41. I was a carpenter right after high school. But the overwhelming pressure/propaganda during those years that told us “if you don’t go to college you will never be successful” weighed on me. So at 22 I quit and went away to a university. Luck would have it - I graduated in 2009 at the peak of the Great Recession. Construction industry collapsed. Zero jobs. But Social media was getting huge so I went to graduate school for a masters in computer science - even though I didn’t like it. I was told it’s the future. Everyone encouraged it. I thought I’d have everything I needed for a good life. Nobody told me you can’t get a job without experience - but you csnt get experience without a degree. I was unemployed for a year and started getting really depressed. A car accident led me to pain killer addiction. Then to fentanyl addiction. I am heavily involved in the recovery world and I can’t tell you how many people have the same story as I do. SO MANY. Obviously, some blame needs to go to every individual who went to college for the same reasons I did and got in debt…but I think responsibility also lies with the schools, the banks, and the corporations for pressuring Americans to go to college. I think debt forgiveness should be out on the banks and the schools - not the American people. Millions of middle class Americans were out into debt because the people in charge told us we needed it - when really their goal was just to financially enslave and indoctrinate us - destroy the middle class. And they succeeded. I’ve personally heard hundreds of stories exactly like mine. It’s time for the banks and the corporations to be held accountable.

I 100% agree. Society brain washed a whole generation. I’m sorry, but anyone who continually keeps saying that it’s our fault for going to college and entering debilitating debt does not understand how easily adolescents and young adults are manipulated. Why do they think manipulative groups (government, terrorists, cults etc) go after the youth? They are easily influenced. And when you’re fed a story that you will never amount to anything in life if you don’t go to college, you panic. I also agree that debt relief should not be put on the American tax payer. But the banks and government should be forgiving the astronomical interest so we can at least make some advancement towards principle payments
@rexnemovi6061
@rexnemovi6061 2 ай бұрын
@SoulShyt You're misplacing the blame. It's the educational system that created the "must go to college" perception, it's the government that allowed/incentivized to make the college so expensive, it's the mass media not showing a realistic picture of the marketplace, the entertainment industry glamorizing white collar jobs. I am not saying the corporations or banks were in any shape or form helpful in the whole mess, but they've just adjusted to reality. Their job is to make money selling stuff, it is others who should be shaping the reality and the future of the society at large in a generally beneficial and sustainable way.

Thank you, Candace, for bringing up the ethnic cleansing of Germans from Eastern Europe. My family was forced out of Prussia, which is now split between Poland and Russia. Many Prussians and other Germans were against the Nazis. Many were still conservatives who wanted the monarchy back. Germans tried to kill Hitler many times. Operation Valkryie, for example. Germans suffered from the treaty of Versailles and went to the person who said he'd end their suffering. Sadly, that man brought more suffering to Germany, and now we're still taught German guilt. Germans can't be proud of being Germans because of WWII. We were villainized in WWI as well, even though we did not start it. We backed an ally, which was Austria. Churchill wanted war and wanted Germany destroyed. Look at the Dresden bombing. Bombed civilians. Many burned to death. If I want to see where my family is from, I have to go to Poland or Russia as Prussia no longer exists. Nor does Silesia, Pomerania, East Brandenberg, etc. These were German states for centuries. Now, they're not.

Before there ever was an Oct 7, there was an April 7. The Rwandan genocide, also known as the genocide against the Tutsi, occurred between 7 April and 19 July 1994 during the Rwandan Civil War. During this period of around 100 days, members of the Tutsi minority ethnic group, as well as some moderate Hutu and Twa, were killed by armed Hutu militias. Although the Constitution of Rwanda states that more than 1 million people perished in the genocide, the actual number of fatalities is unclear, and some estimates suggest that the real number killed was likely lower. The most widely accepted scholarly estimates are around 500,000 to 800,000 Tutsi deaths.

Kamikaze pilots were ready to die, they werent going to surrender. Even when they were at the defensive for 2 years, surrendering wasnt an option for them. They worshipped their emperor and were willing to die for them. Did Nanjing Massacre never happened? What about the comfort women? How did the Japanese kill the Korean Emperor and the royal family? Yes the atom bomb was wrong but the Japanese were commiting heinous crimes against Australian natives, Qing, Koreans, Okinawans, etc. and for a lot of them, they were going to fight until they stopped breathing.

If you were one of the men who would have had to invade mainland Japan, after fighting for 4 years in the Pacific from island to island against people who only knew to fight to the death, you would not be so against the atomic bombs. If you were a wife or a mother of one of the men who came back alive because of the atomic bomb, you would not be so ignorant of what was going on, either. Also, realize the fire bombings of Japanese cities before the atomic bombs were dropped, was much worse. Also, look at the treatment of prisoners of war and the difference between being a prisoner of the Japanese or Americans. WWII was the last legally declared war. Since then, our soldiers and sailors have not fought for our freedom at all. WWII was an existential war, but the war I fought in Vietnam, was a waste of our young men for nothing.

I respectfully disagree with Candace on the issue of dropping the bomb in WW2. The Battle of Okinawa lasted 82 days from April 1 to June 22nd 1945. Over 50,000 American soldiers and sailors lost their lives. The losses of materials were also high including around 345 tanks. The Japanese showed no inclination to surrender. The estimated number of casualties to take the mainland were over a million. A million Americans in uniform to take Japan. If I had been a soldier there I would have appreciated President Truman sparing my life and the lives of my fellow soldiers. He made the tough decision to do it. Personally, I think it was the right one.

Agreed. (And I am a Japanophile.) You also didn't mention how many Japanese would die in such an invasion, which would take years - no doubt many, many more than those that died in the atomic drop. People have an instinctive (and reasonable, I suppose) fear and revulsion to the atom bomb, but its simply because the immensity and swiftness of the event is too difficult to fathom. The suffering would almost certainly have been higher for the Japanese if such an invasion had occurred. (And what if the Soviets had taken parts of Japan as well?!). I really, really liked her focusing on the suffering of the Germans in this episode though. We really ignore the brutality of the Soviets, as well as the cruelty endured by the Germans; not to mention, the RIDICULOUS collective guilt imposed on GENERATIONS of Germans for the war. The smell was still burned into her brain. She and her siblings and mother had to stand in ration lines for food while being surrounded by dead bodies. Her father became very ill. They were poor, no money for medical care my great grandmother was working but not enough to get by with lil kids. My great grandfather committed suicide knowing it would be too much. Annie, I was in your position last year. I was going to college trying to get a degree after being a SAHM for three years because I felt like I wasn’t contributing to society or to my family because I wasn’t bringing in a paycheck. Guilty, is the word I would use. I was feeling guilty for not having a job. Luckily, I had a scholarship so I wasn’t paying for college but when I had only one semester left until I finished I realized just how much I had to ignore my kid to get my assignments done. I was on one of my zoom classes trying to learn and my son was screaming and pounding on the door because I couldn’t get him to fall asleep in time like I normally did and he wanted a million things and couldn’t get them himself and I was sitting in a filthy room that hadn’t been cleaned in weeks because I was studying for finals and I thought “what am I even doing here?” Did I really want to ship my baby off to daycare for a stranger to raise him how they saw fit? Did I really want to put him in public school to be told about issues he has no business knowing yet? Do I really want to spend 8+ hours at work then come home and work some more and never have any time to myself ever?? That was the last time I showed up for class. I withdrew from all my courses, quit my two part time jobs, and threw myself into being a homemaker full time. The money side absolutely sucks but as long as we don’t go out much we can manage. My husband got a new job as well that was less pay but allowed him to work from home instead of graveyard. After we both made those changes our lives improved SIGNIFICANTLY. I think it was worth the stress of barely paying bills. I homeschooled my child through kindergarten so I was able to teach him on my terms and in a way that works with his ADHD and autism. I have time to clean the house and keep it clean! I can cook homemade dinners almost every night! My husband and I have gotten a lot closer as well and all the issues we had in our marriage previously have just melted away. Quitting school to be a SAHM was the BESTTTTT thing I ever could’ve done for my family. I know it’s different for you since you aren’t married and don’t have kids yet. But if your dream is to be a SAHM then just get a job that can support you now that you can get without a degree and don’t waste any more time or energy or money on it. It’s not worth it at all.

@AmyAmore99 Good for you to figure out what's really important. We made a similar decision when our kids were little, and it was tough to live on just one salary. But worth it. Now, as for the financial situation, today, there are possibilities today that a few decades ago were not. Nowadays, you can work from home and control not only the amount of time you want to set aside for that, but often even the time of the day when to do it. It's been always pretty common that women were primarily homemakers, but had some extra gig on the side, especially as the kids grew older. (As a mater of fact, the kids themselves as they grew up did their part to make themselves useful. And it served them well.)

I am born in Germany but my parents are Arab muslims which makes my identity a mix of both of the worst things being propagandized against. What I observe in the german friends I had is that they were indoctrinated to hate their country and deem patriotism as bad. I remember in school when I was a child I looked up what semites are and found out I am also a semite so I asked my German teacher at the time why antisemitism is always only portrayed as "hating Jews" only. She literally screamed at me that that is simply the definition of the word and I am not to question it. Started to question absolutely everything the school ever tried to "teach" me

Interviewing Germans there is a clear cultural PC norm to not have nation-state pride and the only acceptable pride is for the national futbol team at worldcup. My German professor explained it best how they view it because i cannot understand how generations who didnt immediately suffer after the war cam swallow that self flagellation attitude. German is superior to many countries. It has a functioning sanitation system, electroc system, court system... like objectively it would be ranked highly so why the self loathing attitude? He explained.... If you have pride in your nation then we assume the next step is to compare it to another nation and say we are better than their nation. The last time we said we were better sh*t went really bad for us. As an American this concept is polar opposite of red white and blue flag flying. Americans think having pride in thier country is why they mow thier lawns and pick up litter- it makes you want to be better. The Germans have been brainwashed to think that having pride will inevitably mean you want to exterminate or subjugate those you have to find inferior to you. It doesn't make you or where you live better. Once you understand that concept it's easier to understand why Germans are so beat down and just take it like they have to atone for ww2 forever. They don't even create documentaries like the BBC to educate the world on what was done to them after the war!

Im saddened that our girl Candice is bought into "we the evil". Yes it was typical evil in motion, war. Not sure what school CO went to, and I know all schools are different, but I went to a HS in SW Texas, and took just regular classes, not advanced, and we were never taught that dropping atomic bombs during WW2 was a good thing or even a necessary thing, we were taught that’s the decision that was made and our teacher had us discuss the pros and cons. Yeah, some students, I’m sure even me, were too narrow minded to see it as wholly evil, but I distinctly remember us talking about the morality of it. No, our textbook didn’t say that it was good or bad, either. And on the note about propaganda, yeah, I grew up watching movies where anyone with an accent was probably the evil guy, but, it’s America…we were, and still are, very jingoistic. I mean, how long did it take before we saw movies where Native American Indians weren’t seen as anything but savages? While I agree with a lot of things CO says, the things that I disagree with her on are the ones that lack nuance or an exploration into it. Painting with a broad brush on either side is a slippery slope. Her points about the US joining the war and the allies linking arms with Stalin are very good, and why I myself am an educator and love the content that I teach (English Literature), because it brings up this concept that is explored in much of literature which is that people often have multiple, conflicting feelings about certain issues. And, in a good literature class, or any good class or conversation, we weigh those conflicting feelings. Same thing in the war. Nobody was saying that Stalin was a great guy, but we had this “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” mentality.
