I understand why they killed G.I. - the whole "he assumes everyone is a Nazi" thing could have gotten old pretty quickly. But it was heartbreaking nonetheless. What an amazing series! I'm so excited for the Superman trailer next week. Awesome breakdown!

Probably my favourite episode so far. Was sad by the end though. Also I think James Gunn knows you and other timeline enthusiasts because he's been quite on point with helping create a consistent timeline placement for stuff. As far as the jail cell, you can tell if he's on because of his eyes I think? Admittedly I always miss the next time on and then I get to see it in your video.

This was my favorite episode so far. I can’t wait for Dr Phosphorus backstory. Alan Tudyk is one of my favorite actors, and he does a great job voicing him.

10:25 I don't know how to feel about this scene. On the one hand, that was brutal, I love it. But on the other hand, Circe is supposed to be a Wonder Woman level threat, and Weasel was able to mess her up. Idk, maybe only her magic is that strong, and Circe is physically weaker. That or Weseal is just insanely strong. Then again, James Gunn is the same guy who made Adam Warlock look weak so maybe the DCU Wonder Woman isn't actually that strong.

@jeremymorris345 I agree, it's very surprising that Circe was taken down like that. Gunn did a post stating that she has to use her hands to cast her spells and Weasel's attack prevented her from doing that, but it's still abit hard to believe.

I know it’s kinda random but a thought popped into my head. At the end of the suicide squad when all the heroes get let free what if king shark found his way to Atlantis and chilled with Aquaman. If everyone went to live normal lives at the end there’s no way king shark would likely live on land. Imagine if he shows up in some sort of aquaman project lol

I'm loving the show so far... I hope they don't make us wait too long for Nina to be dropped in a large body of water for what i hope is a kick ass fight sequence for her. That also makes me wonder if King Shark was in the monster cells as well before getting recruited for the Starro mission since he's clearly not meta-human

I have 9 things to say of CC (Creature Commandos) so far, of episode 3 and it was awesome show! 1. I wonder if G.I. will be in Luca Guadagnino's Sgt Rock. The mental image of Daniel Craig next to a robot is really funny to me, and it is insane that we’re getting a Guadaginino Sgt. Rock, and it makes me so, so excited. Written by Justin Kuritzkes. Like, it’s bound to be interesting, at least. 2. James Gunn has said that only the major characters in CC are likely to reprise their roles in future live-action projects since their characters are fully envisioned. Due to the nature of animation as a medium, voice actors often play multiple roles per project because it saves on cost; hence, why Alan Tudyk is Phosphorus but also Will Magnus, Clayface, etc. But Gunn and co. wouldn't want to commit to casting the definitive Sergeant Rock here just because he has a couple of lines. It was written before Gunn even took over DC much less hired Justin Kuritzkes to write Sgt Rock. So, for minor characters, expect them to be cast with more unique performers if plans crop up for them in the future. Same deal with Clayface; it's rumored that he will almost certainly be recast from Tudyk in the newly greenlit film. 3. The GI Robot backstory was great, but like he*l, Circe jobs so hard her nickname might as well be Vegeta. Wonder Woman could beat the brakes off of her easily if it's that simple to take her down...🤨 and I've seen spoilers of her standing over Waller back at Blackgate, so it's quite possible that getting captured was her plan all along 4. Her line about Pokolistan having oil could be BS as well. There's something there more important than oil that a Themysciran witch is getting involved. 5. I would, Amanda Waller stories always have characters failing upwards. Suicide Squad 1+2, Peace Maker, It's just as likely X plot point happens by happenstance and accident as it does on purpose and if anything, I'd like to imagine he's happy and reunited with his boys again... on a lighter note, I was happy to spot Animal-Vegetable-Mineral Man and Crimson Centipede in the prison. Wasn't sure about the others, though, if anyone could help with that and I loved that it wasn’t an origin but a look at him in his prime and then after the war and the way he was treated at that point in his life. Some nice cameos and world-building, that’s one thing this show is nailing - it’s not a “hey that’s the guy from the thing” type of cameos and references, it genuinely helps establish how this universe works and what its history and present look like. And hey, lots of dead Nazis in this one, that’s always nice. Can’t wait for the Doctor Phosphorus episode! Cheers to the Tin Man🍻 6. Man, I forget how good Gunn is at making you feel for a character with very little screen time. He is a wizard, and G.I. Robot's story is heart-wrenching. He just wanted to see his boys again... And ki*l Nazis. 7. He also doesn't mention his friends between talking to the scientist in the 60s and when he got sold to the Nazi guy in the 2000s. So it's very possible he met up with his WWII buddies in between. 8. The Princess could be exactly who she seems to be, the de facto ruler of her country. She definitely is manipulative and has hidden agendas. Probably the more important question going to be who she is allied with? There is definitely someone more powerful and more than likely more well-known character gonna be behind the curtains. 9. love to get to know the background for each character but I feel like it’s 80% background story / 20% main plot, they should have put out like small shorts (5min) for each character right before the series so the series can focus in the story, and since James said that the DCU will be more like the Star Wars chronology, we had some teasers: 1943: Tin Man was built, fights with Easy Company along Sgt. Rock. 🤘 1965: Tin Man meets Dr. Magnus and he started working in the Metal Men. -2000s: Tin Man is bought by a Neon4zi and is imprisoned for ki*ling 32 of them. -2024?: Is assigned to Task Force M, is ki*led by Circe. -2025: Superman is in Metropolis. There’s a JL team assembled by Maxwell Lord.

Another fun fact about this episode. The guy who runs the meeting at the end says that it’s the “Hub City National Socialists Club.” Hub City is actually the city that is the home and “jurisdiction” (if you will) of The Question.

Definitely agree that GI might be done since Gunn does tend to ensure that the original characters are still dead so even if he is rebuild it won't be the same GI and I'm sure if that is Robin in the background it would be Damian since it's a glimpse of the future and it's already confirmed that Damian will be the new Robin in Brave and the Bold

9:08 well if the suicide squad took place in 2020 or 2021 and creature commandos takes place 2 years later in either 2022 or 2023 then don’t we just subtract 74 years and get 1946 or 1947? It is only 1-2 years after the war ended.

Actually if you subtract 2022-74=1948 I think we have to honor the DC Extended Universe timeline placements of The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker Season 1.

​@@Ralph_ralphster Great points! So, The Suicide Squad works better in 2020 for the DCEU timeline, due to it needing to fit between Shazam 1 and 2. However, Gunn wants it in 2021, so I suspect for the new DCU timeline, he'll put it in 2021. If we then add 2 years that puts us in 2023 for Creature Commandos, as Rick Flag Jr. was killed 2 years prior during The Suicide Squad. Then, if we subtract 74 years from 2023, that puts us in 1949. So that's why I'm thinking GI Robot must have fought more Nazis after the war ended.

Good question! My guess is that he keeps Superman out of sight until the movie, to make that his big debut. But I'd be down for him showing up, tbh. I mean, the end of Peacemaker season 1 had some pretty big cameos...but ofc, now that didn't happen. So Gunn can instead make a new big cameo for the end of this show!

Good question about Wonder Woman. Since they didn't mention her in the news story on the Sons of Themyscira in the first episode, I wonder if that means Wonder Woman hasn't made her first appearance yet?

I think G.I. Robot will be rebuilt when they return to Belle Reeve, I think James Gunn even said that G.I. Robot will appear during Superman when it comes out in Theaters on July 11, 2025. By the way, what do you think the Avengers Infinity War & Avengers Endgame of the DCU will be? If you have any ideas of storylines, please let me know.

Yeah, I'd love to see GI Robot come back again...with a nice "3" on his forehead. Hope Gunn does that. As for the endgame for the DCU, that's hard to say at this point. I suspect Gunn has something in mind, but he's keeping it very close to the vest at this point.

DCU Chapter One Gods and Monsters December 5, 2024: Creature Commandos Season 1 (MAX) July 11, 2025: Superman August 2025: Peacemaker Season 1 (MAX) June 26, 2026: Supergirl Woman of Tomorrow Summer 2026: Lanterns Season 1 (MAX) September 11, 2025: Clayface We don't know what month in 2026 Lanterns will release on MAX, but my best guess is July or August. I hope we get more updates this week or sometime next year during 2025 on the other projects like Waller, The Brave and The Bold, Paradise Lost, The Authority, Teen Titans, Blue Beetle animated series, Booster Gold and Swamp Thing. Maybe by the start of 2027 or 2028 we will hear an announcement of the Justice League reboot film.

I really wish it was a 40 minute episode where we get to see him with easy company more. It feels like we didn’t get to spend enough time with Gi at all. All together his screen time was maybe 30 minutes and that feels so wrong. Sure his gimmick would probably get annoying after a while but there could’ve been some more to explore about Gi. Could’ve had an awesome 10 minute intro with him in the war instead of that 3 minute scene. Plus if every episode was 40 minutes we coulda got a rock flag backstory where we see him doing something cool or going on a mission with his son before what happens in Corto Maltese. So much potential if the episodes were longer tbh. Love the show and all but it feels kinda rushed.

My guess is that Circe hoped it would take time for them to try to rescue Nina and probably didn't consider GI would just pick up the tub and carry it. Boss move by GI for sure!

I'm really loving this show but i wish the episodes were 40 minutes. It makes it harder for me to really enjoy the episode every week when it ends super shortly especially when each episode seems to have flashbacks interwoven within instead of focusing on the main story which would be fine if it's a longer season and it had longer episodes but I'm loving the show even with my issues!

What about birds of prey or the first suicide squad? Would those be deemed cannon since they are referenced or lead into the James Gunn suicide squad? Where does the cannon technically start? Or do we officially start at the suicide squad

Based on what Gunn has told us, canon starts with The Suicide Squad. I suspect Gunn felt the earlier Suicide Squad and the Birds of Prey were too tied into the DCEU to be able to be used in the DCU. But just a guess on my part.

While I think this is probably one of the weaker episodes ( compared to Ep 1 & 2) i really like how it dived into GI robot 2 backstory and ngl kinda sad they killed him off so quick hopefully they bring him back as GI robot 3 like in the comics. Also that dark future scene they keep teasing kinda got me worry because it kinda reminding me of the same mistakes the DCEU made but just gonna hope for the best for future

Yeah, I could imagine a "3" on GI Robot's head down the line. And you raise a good point about the Snyderverse that showed us that dark future. Please, DC, let's not repeat that mistake again. But I suspect Gunn will resolve things by the last episode so that we know that future doesn't occur. Fingers crossed!

What if the bride is clay face? When Flagg saved her in the beginning she didn’t have a bloody and beaten face as well as her noodle arms just like she was left off. What if she was switched out and the real bride is still bloody with noodle arms. Why would the bad guys clean her bloody face and her arms be restored with no explanation. Same thing happened with the princess in this show where all the blood on her face vanishes between scenes. It’s very jarring to me.
