Suggesting the Koopalings be skins so that they "don't take up any extra roster spots" is fine, only if you mean you want the CSS to be cleaner. If the idea is that making the Koopalings into skins would allow for characters to take their spots, then that's not how that works. Mario Kart isn't Smash, the amount of effort needed to make a brand new character in one is not the same as the other, there is decidedly less work since all that needs to be worried about in Mario Kart is the model, the voices, unique stats and maybe some other minor variables. There's a reason why the skins that do exist are very minor pallet swaps and nothing major. The only exception here is Link, which is BotW costume was added much later. Of course, nothing is stopping them from making more characters on top of all 7 Koopalings, but the main point is that combining the Koopalings into one slot isn't going to free up character space.

Storymode: The story mode starts with just Mario, but with every track a new character is unlocked. The villain is first just Bowser again, having taken everyone hostage to force Mario to race him, but then he is upstaged by - Metal Mario and Pink Gold Peach! (Yes, that's how I would justify their existence. They are villains. Evil metal copies of Mario and Peach.) It becomes a time travel plot that ends with you having to beat the metal characters on a twisting liquid metal track in a dark future.

Something I think would be really cool is, instead of going full Nintendo crossover (something I'd personally hate), go all out on Mario-specific lore. Do E. Gadd, Toadsworth, Cranky Kong, etc. Hell, give us Vivian & the other Paper Mario characters' 3D/mainline debut, that'd be awesome.

Here’s my idea for the character selection menu: The background would be like Mario Kart 8 but can be a different color like yellow or green. The character selection would have parts of it from Mario Kart Wii, with the characters no bring in their karts/bikes, and if they have costumes they can have that and reacting to the outfit they’re wearing similar to Mario Strikers: Battle League, also for the princesses and Peachette and Pauline, you can choose between their dress and their biker suit. And for the kart customization it would be the same. And when you’re ready, they’ll say something cheerful to start, and then it will transition to an iris-in open fade to a loading screen that shows you techniques and facts like in Mario Wonder

Huge disagree on making the Koopalings skins. It worked for Smash cause of the Clown Kart. For MK they have to be seperate characters cause of the weight system, they all have various weight sizes.

yeeeeah we talked about this while making the video, but decided for simplicities sake it was easy to show that here. In a video we're scripting right now about predicting the full roster we discuss why they wouldn't do this. I do think that there's a decent chance characters like metal mario or PG peach are skins if they are included though, and they just remake their weight stats to match the base characters!

It's not meant to be photorealistic, it's stylized, but it showcases new Volumetric Lighting systems, cloth physics simulation, advanced particle and transparency systems, higher resolution textures, specular and normal maps, realtime cubemap reflections, and much more not present in Mariokart 8 deluxe. I think there will be other maps that greater show off the graphics of this game.

I didn’t mind the way it was setup. Coins unlock vehicle customizations and maybe they did this so even if you’re a little kid who can’t beat 150cc let alone 200cc you can still get that sense of accomplishment. Plus there are still some rewards for completing all the cups. Also rewards for time trials.

Really good point you made about why double item boxes should be removed. With 24 racers even with single item boxes it will be chaos. I really don’t even know if it’s gonna work. They would need to make item boxes not disappear when someone grabs one otherwise less than half the pack will get items at each set of boxes. But maybe they want this because less items means less chaos. I’m really just hoping they put more effort into online and speed up lobby wait times. I think they need to make it possible to do a 4 race cup online so we can do more racing and not have to sit in a lobby for more time than we actually race.

Nintendo needs to take notes from Disney Speedstorm. They need to make Mario Kart SEASON BASED (like so many other good kart racers today are doing) and have new tracks, characters/costumes, and kart parts each season. They could even have a Season Pass where you unlock stuff by getting experience doing various things like playing as a certain character and doing such and such. I think Mario Kart could really benefit from the season based format. They could have seasons themed around different games or they don't have to have a theme always. It would make Mario Kart so much better because it would keep you coming back and give you a reason to play and grind XP to level up the season pass and unlock stuff.

Honestly the only thing I really want is for them to find a good chaos-skill ratio. Right now if you're moderately good at MK8D it's possible to lock a less experienced player in an unplayable and unwinnable state. Since the item rarity is calculated based on the distance to the lead, but the CPUs are tweaked to the worse player, you can gain such a lead that the worse player is thrown into Rare Item Pandemonium whereas the player in first place will only ever be hit by a lightning bolt or a blue shell. It's genuinely no fun. There's no accounting for all skill levels without entirely randomizing the outcome, but I also feel like past games weren't like this.
