I kinda miss unlockables. Having everything unlocked at the start is kinda lame. Mario kart Wii has the best unlocks in my opinion. It literally forces you to explore the entire game to unlock everyone, and made seeing certain characters exciting

@ yeah, it is difficult to predict who can get in between ones who are well known or have been regulars like Toadsworth, Nabbit, King Bob-omb and Poochy, where as we have some character's who could still be considered "relatively new" like the Broodals, Cappy and Prince Florean and of course all the various other Mario enemies/bosses like Ninji, Monty Mole, Chargin' Chuck, Hammer Bro, Boom Boom, Pom Pom, Bandit, Spike and Blooper

I just really hope the roster will be more diverse and various. The biggest nitpick that I, and pretty sure everyone else, have with MK8 (before the BCP) is that there's too many spots filled with characters *_THAT NOBODY WANTED!_* Instead of giving us ones like Hammer Bro and Blooper, they gave us Tanooki Mario and Pink Gold Peach.

I’m liking the idea that E. Gadd, Toadsworth and Cranky Kong could be playable in the game. There are some from tour like Nabbit and King Bob-Omb that could appear, and new ones like Boom Boom and Spike would be good. Paratroopa deserves a comeback too. If it’s gonna be 24 racers, they’re gonna need a massive roster.

Cranky, Boom Boom and Spike are awesome picks, some of my personal favourites (Spike being my number 1 wish) but Toadsworth is probably not happening. Nintendo has been cutting all the original toads down to just the species, so more unique toads just don't exist outside of Toadette. At this point I think Toadsworth might just be a retired character which really bums me out.

A few of my own predictions: -Spike: He's already a playable character in sports and party games. Why not add him to Mario Kart? -Pianta: He's been watching from the sidelines for years. It's time he hops in a kart himself. -Toadsworth: He's more than just a toad variant, he's a unique fleshed out character and has been missing for far too long. -Cranky Kong: Nintendo seems to have big plans for the Donkey Kong series, and Cranky Kong is a super relevant character with appearances in the movie and Tropical Freeze. -The Broodles: They're a much much more likely callback to Odyssey than the Shiverian Racer, as neat as they would be too. The Broodles are like a more distinctive version of the Koopalings and I'd love to see more of them. -Babies Pauline, Wario, and Waluigi: The babies have always been kinda random, so this just standardizes it so all the main human characters have baby variants.

I think if we get a Mario Movie rep it'll be Foreman Spike. I think Nintendo might first want to test the waters to see if it's even a good idea to put in Mario Movie characters, and Spike would be the perfect pick! Since just like with Pauline they can brand them as "new original characters" even though they are technically very old and classic NES game characters if people don't like the idea of it.

I think Spike should be included, because he was playable in Super Mario Party Jamboree and appears a lot in games like Super Mario 3D World, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, New Super Mario Bros. Wii / U and the first Super Mario Party. I would love to race as him!

Just like Birdo and Shy Guy he first in Super Mario Bros 2 or actually Doki Doki Panic because Nintendo thought the actual game Super. Mario Bros: The Lost Levels was too hard for the US so they just grabbed an old game and reskinned the 4 playable characters. Despite that Birdo and Shy Guy are Mario characters now, after that he appears in Super Mario World, a toy version of him in Mario VS Donkey Kong and a cameo in Mario Party advance. He has appeared in every Paper Mario since Sticker Star and that includes Mario and Luigi Paper Jam. He appeared in Mario and Luigi Bowser’s Inside Story + Bowser Jr’s Journey and then shocked everyone when he was added to Mario Golf: Super Rush. He had a whole mode Super Mario Maker 2 called Ninji Speedruns, had a whole level themed around him in Mario Wonder, a secret one no less, and he’s in Super Mario Party Jamboree! Just like Pauline, they made him relevant again and now he’s everywhere. I mean he wasn’t in Mario Strikers Battle League but he was free DLC in Mario Golf Super Rush, they may have been planning to include him but considering how poorly received it was, if they were planning on it they probably scrapped it. I don’t think they will leave out Larry and Lemmy, because 5 out of 7 Koopalings just feels off. Also, you’re mentioning Larry as a holiday skin but then where is the base character? And then Lemmy will be the only missing Koopaling which is not going to happen. I also think Spike should be included, he was playable in Super Mario Party Jamboree and appears a lot in games like 3D World, Mario Wonder and the first Super Mario Party. And if there is Geno, Mallow should also be included!

I hope that the Mario Kart 9 roster will have more than 50 characters because 8 deluxe already has close to that many. I would love to see characters return that haven't seen the light of day in a very long time like Tatanga (Super Mario Land) and King Wart (Super Mario Bros 2) and honestly does anybody even remember Stanley the Bugman (Donkey Kong 3), Princess Shokora and Captain Syrup (both from Wario Land). This is the reason why I don't want it to become Nintendo Kart because there are still so many Mario characters (and locations) from the 80's, 90's, and even the early 2000's that are still stuck in the Nintendo vault that will most likely stay stuck in there.

If we do get skins again that each skin should act like a in terms of different players being able to choose different skins as well as having the name of the character change if it’s a skin like Bowser and Dry Bowser for instance. As well as maybe being allowed to have different properties/stats like Mario and Metal Mario. As well as different kart icons if they would have them.

Honestly very good. The only things missed imo are ninji and spike, who are fan favourites. Another good pick is pom pom. Absolutely underrated and a much more interesting design than boom boom. My most wanted character however, has to be lubba from mario galaxy 2!

When you think about it, we’ve always gotten new baby characters for the mainline Mario Kart TV console games. I would definitely take Baby Wario and Baby DK over Baby Pauline. Maybe even add Baby Bowser to see how they’d differentiate him from Bowser Jr.

And my biggest problem with peachette is that they chose her to be in Mario kart 8 over a unique original female character like Dixie kong. If they needed another girl in the roster I don’t see why it was peachette instead of Dixie.

I would love to see 2d Mario rep as well, Prince Florian or a Poplin would be a great addition imo. My favorite character from Mario Wonder is the talking flower, but I don't really see him becoming playable lol

Personally I think character "skins" will be alternate characters within the same shape/skeleton. You change skin you get unique noises, tricks, etc... But (if the wonder seed box is a box to get unqiue items ala DD and tour) the unqiue item is the same. This is a way I think Nintendo can continue to expand the roster without also turning the character select screen into a novel. I mean 8Dx Booster pass is already too big imo. Plus if clothing customisation is coming, the a seperate menu for that with each skin could also help reduce clutter. For example: You Koopa Trooper Skins: Koopa trooper, Dry Bones, Paratrooper, Spiny Trooper Clothing: Shell colour, clothes, top, etc... If the game is going to get dlc in a way that spreads over the course of the Switch 2's life, then designing the menus from the ground up will allow for an easier addition into the game.

I’m gonna be honest, I personally never see them making Metal Mario or Pink Gold Peach skins rather than their own characters bc regardless if we don’t care about their weight classes I’m sure the devs do, personally their inclusion as extra characters doesn’t bother me too much bc from a development perspective including them is incredibly easy.
