Actually, the kid wouldn't be canceled since in 1995 "retarded" WAS an acceptable term as in "that kid's development has been retarded". It has only been retired relatively recently since it is mostly used as a pejorative. And seeing as Billy Madison DOES display clear symptoms of developmental and cognitive delay, the child was correct to question it.

My favorite part of “Billy Madison” is the bag of poop on fire scene. In the movie, the old man calls it poop and Billy makes fun of him for calling the shit poop. But in the edit for television version he makes fun of the old man for calling the poop poop.

The reason Bridgette Wilson was in “Billy Madison” is because she didn’t get the role of Sonya Blade in “Mortal Kombat”, so she agreed to do this movie. Cameron Diaz was picked to play Sonya but she ended up dropping out and so the role of Sonya went to Bridgette.
