Fun fact: Before joker kills electrocutioner he uses 4 of the 6 shots in his revolver, and uses the other 2 to kill his goons next to batman after they fall, so when he's pointing the gun at batman he's actually just bluffing

10:05 To add onto this, Alfred literally refers to him as a "young man with a trust fund and too much anger" to which Batman replies with accusations that Alfred still sees him as a kid. That's the whole point. Bruce is being an asshole because at this point in his career, he IS an asshole, and Alfred acknowledges that. That's why Alfred says this, because at this point he really is just an angry young man with a trust fund. As we see in other games (or even in the Cold Cold Heart DLC), their dynamic grows as Bruce has matured. Not to mention later in the game Bruce actually does realize what an asshole he's been to Alfred and apologizes, because he's realized that his own arrogance is what led to Alfred nearly dying. Otherwise known as character growth.

i dont see the origins story as his learning not to be an asswhole but instead him to learn to work with others. alfred keeps pushing him to work with the police but batman refuses and it's only at the end where batman accepts help and works with the police. and it's mainly because after alfred almost dies, he loses confidence and says that he can't do this because he can't even defend his own home. but alfred suggests to him that perhaps he could do it with help. that than leads to him working with the cops at black gate. in my opinion, the whole story revolves around him accepting that he needs help and can't do it all alone. i think the rest about him being an asshole might be related to that but isn't mainly what the story is about

Also I think it's explained in Arkham Knight why he gave the GCPD the shock gloves. They were technically evidence, plus anyone capable could track the signal to find him the same way he tracked electrocutioner.

I think my biggest problem with the whole "Gordon should know Batman better by now" is that they JUST had their first extended conversation at most, a couple of hours ago. They had never interacted prior to this game, and it all takes place over one day. They had their first conversation on the bridge, where Batman immediately flew off to help Alfred, and then a couple of hours later, Gordon sees Batman presumably murder Bane. This is only his third overall interaction, and two of the the three times he's 'met' with Batman he was committing a crime in Gordon's eyes (Breaking and Entering at the Police Station and Murder.) So no, Gordon should NOT know Batman well enough at this point to know he wouldn't murder Bane and instead made it look like he did.

35:24 is probably the sin i have the most problem with. There's a reason they removed stuff like the planned “tripping” mechanic, where Batman would occasionally trip while running: it made the game less fun. Opting to not use these upgrades would be seen as a downside in the long run, as it would make the gameplay far more limited and boring. Sometimes sacrifices have to be made, even if they seem contrived. It absolutely wasn't made due to budget constraints, but because the devs cared enough to put the player's fun over the logic of the plot, and even then managed to come up with perfect reasons for why these items aren't used in the later chronological games.

Unfortunately it's a little bit hard, due to the soundtrack. Also due to the differences in studios. Batman Arkham City and Asylum had the same studio and composer, while Origins was a different studio. And Christopher Drake, the composer for Origins, would need to be paid royalties. That's why Origins may never get remastered.

19:33 The real reason as to how the death penalty can exist in gotham and also not have batman's villains get executed is because they are all considered legally insane which means that they can't get legally executed and will instead most probably rot in a mental institute till they die. This is why Calendar man is almost gassed as he's not considered legally insane as is evident by his presence in blackgate instead of one of the mental asylums in New Jersey. The part about the death penalty not being legal in jersey anymore however doesn't make any sense other than that the game might take place before 2007 which would also make sense as to why he's not executed again between origins and city

Edit: 40:52 is why characters propose the opening of arkham asylum, why is this a sin? It's a setup to the premise of technically the rest of the series.

27:29 The fact that you acknowledge what a great Joker Baker played makes me respect you way more than I already do. Also, he claims that Mark Hamill's performance is being mimicked, and that might be true to some extent, but in a lot of ways Troy Baker makes the character his own as well. Hamill delivers a more fun/comedy type of performance and delivers it with aspects of horror. Troy Baker's Joker is a little more serious and dark, which is evidenced by the final sequence when he and Batman fight. Plus, in my opinion his voice fits better for a younger Joker. Not calling Hamill old lol but I'm just saying that their voices fit for their respective characters. Mark Hamill's voice is perfect for the other games, but from my perspective imagining this Joker with Hamill's voice doesn't feel right. I also feel like the voices signify the growth of the characters, hence why Batman has a different actor as well. Again, not saying any of the actors are old but I can't think of any better way to explain this. Point is, Hamill does a great Joker in the other games, but given the atmosphere and overall dynamic of the Joker here, Troy Baker was perfect as well.

Here's something that never gets brought up. In the scene where Joker blows up the building Batman throws him across the table and scattering the detonators. Yet in the scene where Bane punched him off the Joker the table is back to normal. That's an actual sin.

Or the Origins suit is more armored than the Asylum and City suits. It was likely able to handle the force of the accelerator, but Bruce realized a cloth like fiber was better for mobility and stealth at the expense of not being able to use the accelerator anymore. The boost is an upgraded version of the accelerator that the City suit can use, but it is just a prototype that isn't perfect. Than the Knight suit comes along which is the best of both worlds between the Origins and Asylum/City suit. Mobile, armored, and able to withstand the force of an upgraded grapple boost.

Honestly I like to think that post Arkham City Bane actually began to get back his intelligence because he does seem substantially more smart in that game than in asylum plus he eventually fights his addiction to venom and Titan so I can only assume that leads to him regaining some of his smarts

The thing is bane isn't even that stupid in asylum, like yea with a venom titan mix he wasn't very smart, but but he was coherent and he made sense, and in city he again showed no sense of being stupid outside of how batman beats him, but i chalk that up to not having the resources for anything except a recycled bane boss fight, so no need to reuse it, his role in both games are so small that his boss fight is easily the longest you'll be against him until orgins, where he ironically becomes the dumbest he is in the series by the end of the game

34:28 What also makes this scene so amazing is the subtlety about it. We already know that Joker is obsessed with Batman and we know why, but that obsession goes both ways. This scene is actually not exactly what happened to Batman's parents. There is one crucial difference. The man pulling the trigger is not Joe Chill. It's Joker. In some continuities, Joe Chill was killed before Bruce could get justice for his parents death and he never got the closure he needed. That was the main driving force behind becoming batman. He thought he could find that closure by making sure that no one else ever experienced what he did. What this scene shows is that whether or not they're there, Bruce has drawn similarities between Chill and Joker(at least on a subconscious level) and when he sees Joker, he sees the monster who murdered his parents and a second chance to avenge their deaths

16:56 Hell something similar happens in the DLC for Spider-Man PS4. Miles says that the web shooter has to be changed for when he eventually uses them because of his different size when compared to Peter. If they stayed the same, even if Peter and Miles did the exact same moves, Miles would possibly swing uncontrollably due to the web shooters not taking into account his size. The same logic can be applied to Batman needing to alter the grappenal accelerator (and eventually the suit as seen in Arkham Knight) in order for him to not crash into the building or rip off his arm.

Regarding Dartigan sinning Batman not killing Joker (sin 81), Linkara makes a good point on why Batman never kills: he's trying to be better then the lunatics he fights. He needs people to trust him to be a symbol. The instant he kills, that's permanently ruined, because how can the people of Gotham trust he won't do it again? There is no definitive date but in Arkham City, there is a plaque above the entrance gates when you're on your way to Hugo Strange during Protocol Ten, marking Quincy Sharpe's approval of the institution. Whilst the entire year is slightly damaged, the first two digits are definitely 19.

Something I've noticed after playing Arkham Origins many times is that it sounds like Troy Baker voices Black Mask until he's revealed to be Joker in Merchants Bank. He's such a good voice actor that it's hard to tell if it's him or Brian Bloom, but I believe it's Troy.

The shock gloves actually don't break. In Arkham Knight, you can actually see the shock gloves inside the GCPD right next to where you pick up the REC. If you interact with it, Cash mentions that batman handed the gloves in because he prefers beating criminals the old fashioned way.

Defibrillators are shock devices but control shock devices as seen here by the gloves. The gloves are a controlled shock device so the glove could in revive someone given enough volts of electricity in the proper areas as Batman did

Am I the only one who actually loved Origins from the first playthrough? I've always thought the story was amazing, and the biggest complaint was the combat which honestly wasn't that bad. I also heard people complain about the Joker boss fight, even going so far as to say it was worse than Asylum, but I actually thought it was perfect. Instead of any real combat, it's just Joker continuously trying to push Batman to the edge after having saved his life. We get to see, in an interactive cinematic masterpiece, the true origin of their relationship and why Joker is always pushing Batman to his limit. Sure, it's not really a "boss fight" and more of a short sequence, but punching the Joker in the face as he laughs/grins at Batman, angering him further and pushing him to cross that line, I thought it was absolutely amazing. Plus, it's actually the perfect boss fight for the Joker if you think about it. Joker isn't much of a fighter, especially against Batman, but he will, without hesitation, take beating after beating and laugh in Batman's face the whole time, and that's exactly what that fight delivers. On top of that, before it even begins, you can see that Joker is genuinely frustrated that Batman didn't kill Bane. He thought he had finally pushed Batman to that limit, that Batman went over the edge, and then he had his celebration crushed by Batman himself. When he says "that's NOT funny" you can tell he really means it. Then he proceeds to laugh immediately afterwards as he tries to push Batman yet again, fully aware of how angry Batman is at him. The entire sequence was perfect and the story overall really got to me. This is hands down my favourite origin story for Batman and Joker, and it's tied with Arkham City for my favourite in the franchise.

22:37 I think you both have points. On one hand, he mentioned Bruce Wayne's _back channels,_ I think implying that _they won't know it's Bruce Wayne._ It'll be anonymous or even Batman. On the other, you are right, most of these assassins likely wouldn't take a no-kill job. To me, what's more important is that... it's Batman. If they kill Batman, not only will they be pretty well-off, they'd be famous. People would be clamoring to hire them and be willing to pay _tons_ of money for the person who killed the Batman. I doubt most of those characters would turn that offer down. I'm also sure that Batman doesn't want to give extremely lethal murderers even more money to upgrade and murder more.

It's that argument that Red Hood and Batman have. Batman's way of thinking is that he can't kill because then he is no worse than the criminals he fights, while Red Hood's way of thinking is that if he kills someone who will kill again, he is saving lives. Batman sees leaving Joker alive as not stooping to his level; Red Hood sees it as allowing him to kill more people.

Batman flat-out gives up the Electrocutioner's gloves to GCPD by Arkham Knight. Apparently he "preferred beating up thugs the old fashioned way." We don't know why Bane went after Batman the way he did in this game. It's a huge open plot thread the game went out of its way to leave open (talk to Alfred at a few points after Bane encounters and that one becomes clear). It's one of the reasons I'm still pissed off we never got a direct sequel to this. Huge threads from Bane, Riddler, and Shiva left completely unanswered.

If you've watched the Brooklyn 99 Cold Open where Jake makes a lineup of suspects sing "I want it that way" he's doing the same thing there. There are numerous people who have noted circumstances that could suggest Wayne as the Batman, and he has yet to adopt the "idiot playboy Brucie" persona, there is less evidence to counter it, so he was likely on Bane's suspect list, this peice of evidence confirmed it to him. This is likely why Bruce would later adopt the "Brucie" persona.

23:08 - Actualy, there is a Riddle in Arkham City, involving a tablet with the opening date of this superprison - Arkham City. The year is errased, with only number 1 in the beggining being intact. So, Arkham City takes place somewhere around 1999 - 2000 at max, giving that it's winter there. So... It's another timeline, not so simular to our Earth, cause them having more advanced tecknology (with the Wonder City story - what a surprise!)
