If you're like us, you loved Labyrinth at some point in your youth. And if you've seen it lately, you probably wondered what the hell you were thinking as a kid. OR... you're young enough that you've never even heard of this movie, which should be a fantastic experience all its own. Regardless, here are the sins of Labyrinth.
Remember, no movie is without sin. Which movie's sins should we recount next? You can be the narrator by calling the Hotline: 405-459-7466!

I think the reason why so many people like this movie, including me, is because despite the beauty of it, it doesn't take itself too seriously. While so much hard work and time was put into it, its not perfect, even by 80's standards, and that's not a bad thing. That's what makes it good. It wasn't this big, huge, expensive movie that put intense work into the animation and puppetry, but rather a little funny and emotional story with cute little quirky characters and humour for everyone. No movie is perfect, I get that. No movie is ever going to be perfect. But this movie has something unique and special that you don't get in a lot of movies. And the soundtrack is absolutely beautiful, you can't sin that. The music is so fun and uplifting, it gets you dancing and I love that so much. This entire movie is just so amazing. Plus, David Bowie. David Bowie is always a win!

Kgcopper What does the value of "i" have to do with the value of something that's imaginary?
@Rime_in_Retrograde
@Rime_in_Retrograde 9 жыл бұрын
bwc3821 'i' is just the letter used to denote an imaginary number. Example: square root of -16 is sqrt(16) times sqrt (-1), simplified to 4i. Also, sqrt(-16) times itself, and the sqrts cancel out, giving the real number -16. Hence my original comment/ joke.
@blueballoon5052
@blueballoon5052 9 жыл бұрын
Kgcopper Don't worry I found you joke funny. bwc3821 You need to take some math classes. Imaginary numbers are an actual thing used by real mathematicians all the time, they allow you to take the square root of a negative number and if you have two imaginary numbers in a single problem you can combine them into a "real" number.

+Baba Ali Of course it works for i*i. I said it _usually_ doesn't do this. Consider for example i * (1+i) = -1 + i. Still not real. In general, the product of two complex numbers is real iff they are scalar multimples of each other's complex conjugates (so the whole term looks something like this: x(a+bi) * y(a-bi) for x,y,a,b real )

xxsavagecherryxx I feel like a lot of it's contrived by deliberate misunderstanding of the classic folklore that Labyrinth is based on. I mean, it's not like the backstory is hidden. Also, it's half the 'sins' were based on the premise that the Labyrinth is some kind dream or hallucination. Given that's it's a fantasy film that's not even trying to pull the 'it was actually a dream' twist, is it too luch to approach the movie as if there was actually adventure in another world? This is fiction for a reason, folks.

+ZacBlurBlur What I meant by my wording was that one time (or day I suppose you could say) I watched it 6 times in one day. Normally when I watch it I only watch it once a day. Hope that cleared it up. I wouldn't be surprised if I did write this when I was half asleep, wording my thoughts gets quite a bit more difficult. Like right now. Sometimes I stop and can't remember what word I was going to use, and I can't grasp the flow of the sentence easily so that I can adequately write down my thoughts...

When I saw you made an "Everything Wrong" video of my ALL-TIME FAVORITEST MOVIE FOREVER AND EVER, I just had to watch. Out of morbid curiosity. I gotta admit, this was clever and even funny at times. However, I simply can't stand it when a man complains about a male character being sexualized (i.e. the numerous references to the "Bowie bulge"). Of course, being a man, you would never complain about hot female characters with tight shirts that barely contain huge boobs and cleavage like the Grand Canyon. If every woman in the world can sit through a movie and tolerate tits in our faces for an hour and a half, then surely you can cut us some slack and keep your disapproval of actors' packages to yourself. Us women (and gay men) deserve just as much eye candy as you do. BTW what's so bad about 1980's Bowie? THAT was when he was at the peak of his fame, therefore that was Bowie at his best. Would you rather it be Michael Jackson? Because that was Henson's first choice for the role of Jareth, believe it or not.

Lucky Vine Very good point, there's no way he'd have complained about large breasts -- but that's what happens when you live in a male-normative society that venerates male sexuality/female attractiveness and demonizes female sexuality/male attractiveness. Also, I thought that Mick Jagger was Henson's first choice, but maybe he came after Jackson. Anyway, this is still one of my favorite fantasy movies ever! Pixelrelated "Somebody call the wahmbulance" = "Waaah! Someone made a point that upsets my worldview and that I can't refute!"
@Pixelrelated
@Pixelrelated 10 жыл бұрын
Alaric Holmes My worldview that he is wining? Ummm... I can prove it. His logic makes no sense in defending David Bowie: David Bowie was the most famous then so that means he was at his best... beautiful logic. Also, his logic is defined by "Everyone loves sexual eye-candy". Actually, it's rather obnoxious on both parties because it means the movie is compensating for something. There is nothing wrong with sexualizing to explain the character, but to say "We need more packages for the women and gays" doesn't quite make sense. I thought the major complaint of recent was how the media has too much sexual content? How people are being desensitized. Also, the movies with more female eye-candy are for male audiences, while female oriented movies have more guys with "abs". Sexualized males are everywhere. Go watch a Twilight movie. It's not like they are "non-existent".
@MegaGanash
@MegaGanash 10 жыл бұрын
Pixelrelated I agree with you, and Alaric Holmes is being a huge dick head. Also, I believe the reason Cinema Sins is making the Bowie Bulge a Sin is because its a childrens movie and at times it gets dangerously close to that underage girl.

DrunkFrank Gamesquad Really. Greatest from animation and music standpoint? As far as the animation quality, I agree, it was well done. Compared to the other animated classics like The Lion King, Hercules, Mulan, etc. It's half rate at best. Let it Go was the only song I actually enjoyed in Frozen. For the First Time in Forever wasn't anything special, Do You Wanna Build a Snowman got really old really fast, and need I even bring up that atrocious fixer-upper song? Besides which, the story is a mess with plot holes. Such as: Why does Elsa have powers? What are the limitations of her powers? How can she create a living creature with them? If Olaf was only just created, why does he know what summer is? Why does he know about Elsa and yet act like they've never met? Why are Elsa's parents and Christoff the only people who know about the existence of rock trolls? Why can't they just tell Anna about her sisters powers again so they don't have to let her grow up thinking her sister is ignoring her. Why did Anna never leave the castle growing up and instead just continually ask Elsa to play with her? Why didn't Hans kill Anna instead of revealing his evil plan and just claiming she died? How is Elsa able to make an elaborate ice palace when she's spent most of her life repressing her abilities? All these questions and many more go unanswered in that film. I will admit that it did some unique things like showing that love isn't really felt at first sight, and that you don't need a man to rescue you, but it still wasn't as good as people claim it was. It was decent though.

DrunkFrank Gamesquad Not nostalgia covered. I only like it because it's based on Shakespeare's "Hamlet" not because I saw it when I was little. I actually hated it when I was little and only appreciated it fully a few years ago. Mulan and Hercules are more nostalgic to me. Don't make assumptions.

Everyone is talking about David Bowie but we're really not giving Jim Henson enough credit. I'm 14 years old, yet somehow I grew up with this movie and I love it. Thousands of times better than the crap kids get these days.

Holy shit, hidden Bowie face! How did I NEVER see that?! 😱😂 Laughed the whole time. 80s movies are full of "WTFs", it's almost guaranteed. 😆 Still one of my favorite movies.

Dude. I love your channel. But there are a few movies that have no cinema sins. They are, in no particular order: The Goonies Labyrinth Gremlins The Dark Crystal Lost Boys Come on, man. Some things are sacred.

I agree with Teddy that The Princess Bride should be on your list of movies with zero sins. Anyone who says differently is selling something. Also, ummm.... Dark Crystal? That whole movie is a sin, lol. Pretty sure Jim Henson and Frank Oz were trippin' balls on LSD when they made that one! :D

Basically every decade or so David Bowie would change his look/style. Most people got pissed at 80's Bowie because that's when his look changed from Ziggy style to more formal

70s Bowie was one of the best solo artists through the decade, 80s was full with extremely well produced pop, and some of the greatest pop created. 90s was pretty bad, but that's mainly because he wasn't wery active during that decade, otherwise, even then, it was fine. And 2000s, and 2010s were actually surprisingly great - blackstar and Heathen are amazing.

I love this movie, I know it's old but it's like another Alice in Wonderland. Also I know these videos are mostly just to joke around about movies but a lot of the sins weren't particularly mistakes, more like things you've decided you dislike. Anyway, was kinda glad to see this video be uploaded.
