Dalton was the closest thing to the James Bond from the novels until Daniel Craig. I suppose audiences weren’t ready for the hard edge assassin version of the character because of the Rodger Moore super camp fest of the 70’s-80’s.

Re: Felix and him surviving the sharks - yes they did pull him out, but not to safety. As he's being lowered into the shark pool Leiter says to Sanchez "killing me won't stop anything!", to which Franz replies "there are worse things than dying, hombre" ... presumably because rather than kill him Sanchez wants Leiter to suffer the torment of having to go on living after being severely maimed and seeing his wife murdered. His subsequent line about this being the first day of the rest of Leiter's life is a cruel reference to this. That's why he is only lowered halfway into the pool, and why you see Sanchez motion for him to be pulled back up before the sharks can devour him completely.

That’s how it was in the book Live And Let Die, but not played out like that in terms of the dialogue. Its not the best Bond movie ever since it doesn't follow the usual plot of the pre-Craig era but its a good movie. Yea, there are some inconsistancies but its made up by a ruthless villain and Timothy Dalton, who I believe is the best Bond. Sad that he had only two movies as Bond, but somehow his appearance in "Looney Toons Back in Action" is a suitable conclusion for him as a spy. BTW, Bond is not being logical since he's on a vendetta, so it makes sense for him to mess things up and not be professional, thus no reason to not sin those. PS: Glad there are others in the comments who also think Dalton is awesome!

10:20 or 61-62 on the counter: I've read that haggling is a sociologically ingrained custom. You'd think there are times when you can skip the haggle, especially if (NA in this scene) you've haggled the price with that person before. Results suggest, though, if you try to skip the haggle, you end up with no deal.

The best James Bond films: 1965, 1967, 1977, 1979, 1981, 1983, 1985, 1987, 1989, 1995. *** Although I really-really like Roger Moore's "fantastic movies" TSWLM and MR, I also like that brutal violence in LTK!!! It was a film I was very much looking forward to! The best stuff in LTK is: Dalton and Davi, violence, locations, action/stunts and of course Talisa Soto! Probably the sexiest woman EVER???

Love it and a lot of good points made such as Sanchez being unable to put two and two together despite being smart .... The opening sequence very carefully ensures that Sanchez never gets a good look at Bond, even when he's on the plane (he has his back to him the whole time) ... plus Leiter was now a DEA agent and so his files would show no professional connection to Bond in this regard, who being MI6 would not have much operational history with drug enforcement in South America and so be off Sanchez radar .... The only surviving henchman that fought Bond personally is Dario, and his absence is explained as him being in his native Honduras getting those famous stingers from the Contras while Bond and Pam are doing their thing in Isthmus City, and indeed as soon as they meet at the Olympiatic temple lab, Dario recognises Bond ..... The novelisation and comic book adaptation make this more clear, but you can still understand it from just the movie.
@garyjones25613 жыл бұрын
Yeah, Dario may not've been able to warn Sanchez, but what about the Wavekrest crew?
@stoogefest163 жыл бұрын
@@garyjones2561 Doesn’t apply. The only crew member who ever got a good look at him was the one who took a harpoon to the chest. Plus, Bond was never anywhere near the remaining crew mates when they arrived in Isthmus City.

This Bond created the formula for all following Bond movies, and action movies for that matter. Bond gets captured, check. Bond has a underwater fight, check. Bond poses as a criminal/gets disavowed, check. Bond gets in a car chase, check. Bond doesn't land a plane, check. This movie is perfect, except for the execution.

Licence to Kill a Die Hard reunion of sorts with that films Agent Johnson & Johnson actors Grand L Bush and Robert Davi playing on opposite side of the Law. Die Hard composer Robert Mark Kamen makes it a trifecta as replacement for the late ⏰ John Barry. The music here even uses ques from the Lethal Weapon movies, not surprising since Kamen scored Lethal Weapon 2 this same year (so he probably reused the music queues).

It's also a pre-meeting for 'Mortal Kombat' with Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa (Shang Tsung) and Talisa Soto (Lupe Lamora) ... It's brief, but they are in the same shot for about four seconds when he and his female assistant walk out of the casino and exchange looks with Bond .... I remember that being an interesting thing in 1995 when MK came out and wasn't yet the cult phenomenon it is today.

9:04 To be fair, it is kinda hard to properly stab a guy with a knife underwater, you need a pretty great amount of arm strength to thrust hard enough to do any damage... I assume. Not that I've ever tried to stab rogue secret agents trying to thwart my illicit drug-dealing business, while under water. But hypothetically, cutting would be easier than stabbing. Of course, a harpoon gun would be pretty useful for heart-penetration related activities. Also, at 19:09 while the Lab is on fire, you can literally see a fire extinguisher hanging on the wall through the open door!
@nathanfield87893 жыл бұрын
3:26 Both spellings are correct, but on a somewhat unrelated note, I spell it with two Cs. Anyways, the word licence is a British word which is why they spelled it that way and the word license is the American version of the same word. It's much like how Americans call and spell it Aluminum and the United Kingdom call and spell it Aluminium. At the end of the day, there's the British English Dictionary and American English Dictionary.

Hey CinemaSins, can you do "Batteries not Included, 1987" in honor of the late Frank McRae? Thanks for your consideration Let's talk about my man, Frank McRae, the former NFL Player and a Freaking Legend, to me at least, sadly he recently passed away in April this year....Was Excellent in Batteries not Included back 1987 and was in many other movies like, Last Action Hero and National Lampoon's Vacation just to name a couple..
@Sevenfeet03 жыл бұрын
Even better.....do "Used Cars" in honor of Frank McRae. A scream fest of a comedy that nobody saw in 1980. Even funnier was the DVD commentary with Kurt Russell, Bob Zemeckis and Bob Gale talking about all the things they couldn't get away with had they made the movie in later years.
Not to mention his iconic role in ‘48 Hrs’ as the enraged, imposing police captain, which became an oft-repeated character type in countless buddy-cop movies from then on. He even had an opportunity to satirize the role in ‘The Last Action Hero.’
