You have to take off at least one sin for the fantastic scene where Bond, with six months growth of scraggly hair and beard, in his pajamas, soaking wet, comes in to the luxurious hotel lobby, saunters up the the desk, and asks for his, "Usual suite." And then the interplay between him and the desk clerk and the hotel manager. That was just terrific. That was a glimpse of the Sean Connery style utterly class act Bond that Brosnan could have been if they had just given him the scripts. The later interaction with Cuban sleeper agent was pretty darned good too.

When you mentioned the lack of them ever referencing him being tortured, it reminded me of how much care 24 had to its storytelling. When Jack Bauer was tortured the rest of the season and a few times the following season, there was references to his torture. He scars, people looking at his scars, camera panning to scars, comments from other characters, hints by enemy characters. OMG The World Is Not Enough *HAS* to be one of the most sin-filled Bond movies of them all. Good lord...
@sdfkjgh3 жыл бұрын
@m jefferson: _The World Is Not Enough_ would've been one of the best Bond films if every single frame of Denise Richards never made it off the cutting room floor. Think about it: **SPOILER ALERT** The Bond Girl is actually the villain, she tortures Bond psychologically, emotionally, and physically, she's an actually well-written, complex female character who isn't played by Judi Dench (but she's in here too, giving her best performance until _Skyfall_ ), and I would argue that were it not for the intervention of Zukovsky, she was the one who came the closest to actually killing Bond. But of course, you can't have a Bond Girl be a villain, that'd be too mature of a story for the audience. Throw in someone who's best known for getting naked on screen, and give her a ridiculous name and an implausibly ludicrous job. Who cares if she couldn't act her way out of a paper bag, or that she delivers all her lines with the same flat, unthinking cadence as a third grader reading their book report out loud to the entire class.

15:33 Not only would an unloaded semiautomatic pistol weigh less than a loaded one, but it would NOT dry fire (the "click" sound) twice in succession like this. Also, a trained assassin/spy would check and doublecheck any firearm to make sure it was loaded well before he or she might need to use it. ALSO also, in order to chamber a round, the slide would have to be racked, something else a spy/assassin would do before holstering a pistol. If he/she just assumed that a) a fully loaded magazine was loaded into the pistol and b) a round was chambered and then tried to pull the trigger, NO CLICKING SOUND WOULD BE HEARD AT ALL.

You are correct about knowing the gun is unloaded, but not for the reason you stated. When you pick up a weapon (particularly a service weapon), you check the loaded state. When he picked it up to holster it, checking to see the magazine has ammo and whether or not there is one in the chamber is a MUST. Otherwise, you risk accidental discharge, or needing it and hearing "click". (BTW, when you do pull the trigger and hear "click", you do not just turn the gun to point at yourself. Could be a hang-fire and you might shoot yourself. Also, if it is that the chamber is empty, there might be rounds in the magazine and you could easily load one just in the process of checking. If someone is already pointing a gun at you, doing these things while moving to cover is a good idea, too.)

14:17 The reason James Bond's Aston Martin Vanquish is so quiet is because the version they were using was an electric version. Aston Marin made a Tesla before, Tesla was founded. What I'd like to know is why you thought James Bond's car had a V12 engine when clearly it makes no sound when it's cloaked. As cheese as it might sound, however, it still is a sin, if James Bond's car acts the way I think it does. Because if it's an electric car all the time, it's not a sin, but if it's a V12 that goes quiet when it's cloaked then yes. Either way, I'm pretty sure it's an electric motor under that hood, that makes V12 noises when it's uncloaked. Otherwise, they are using two cars one with a V12 and one with an electric motor.

Do one for Dante's Peak, and Chain Reaction (one with Keanu Reeves). Hopefully your new Sin counter is enough to last for the EWW Fast 9 especially after what had happened in EWW Fate of the Furious.
