8:48 I said it on the original and I’ll say it again here The reason it switches is because “Titan” and “Tighten” are simply different people. “Titan” is the hero that Megamind wanted to mold Hal into being and “Tighten” is the villain that Hal *chose* to become. “Titan” was the original goal and “Tighten” is what Hal became because he is a horrible person and a bad speller. That’s why it flops around at first and completely switches at the half point (when Hal fully embraces being bad).

2:01 “but, has he been bad?” THATS THE WHOLE POINT thats literally the point of the entire movie. he isnt the bad guy and never was. he was thrust into unfortunate circumstances beyond his control and was then punished for them despite his best efforts to fit in. thats the whole point of showing his backstory is you see that he really wasnt bad all along but was still continuously punished by his peers and made out to be bad when really metro man was the bad guy when they were growing up. megamind realizes that they all see him as the bad guy and decides that must be his calling, so he takes it and runs with it and the entire movie from then on out is his long journey back to being who he was actually meant to be: the good guy. yes it is that serious take off that sin (and every other sin).

I’m sick of people saying these movies are the same. I mean have they even seen both movies? Their tones, joke presentation, theme, etc. are so vastly different. It’s like people take the basic jumping off point of “villain becomes good” and lacked mental capacity to think beyond that.
@SoccYT5 жыл бұрын
@@TheHardFandomLife they are comparable, but the theme of both movies are really different. Grue is accepting his role as no longer being just a villain and now a family man. Megamind tries to find whether his role as a villain is better for him, but both of these movies are satirical presentations of a villains view of the world and heroes around it. However I find megamind more adult oriented than despicable me as that one is definitely kids oriented. In example, despicable me is a family life oriented movie that centers around childlike wonderment and jokes. Whereas megamind centers more around relationships and our roles in society being a stigma, and most of the jokes are a stab at the stigmas and stereotypes associated with heroes or villains.

Here's the thing I noticed: when Megamind changes into the warden in the beginning of the movie he has the wardens voice as well, but when Megamind changes into Barnard at the Metro Man museum He doesn't have Barnard's voice but has his own voice when he's using Barnard's disguise

There’s actually a really good explanation for this. On the watch, when the warden was wearing it, it showed a Record symbol on it. It was recording his voice. Because of how fast he had to copy Bernard’s image, he didn’t have time to record his voice and replicate it.

Not nearly as bad as "sure, the gravitational pull of that black hole type thingee is enough to be pulling that entire planet in at an astonishing rate, but an escape pod the size of an infant? Eh, no worries, it's definitely gonna break free." Acceleration due to gravity is not proportional to mass, because the force is proportunal to the mass.
@SGGCREATIVES5 жыл бұрын
@@ryanmaxwell2174 YEAH! SCIENCE!!!
@sageleafscribbles39405 жыл бұрын
@@ryanmaxwell2174 Accelleration is inversely proportional to mass, meaning that a smaller mass leads to a higher accelleration. This actually means that it would be easier for the light pod to try and accellerate away from the black hole. However, according to F = ma, accelleration due to gravity IS proportional to force, as is mass (as you mentioned). Therefore, the lighter and object is, the more force it is pulled in to the black hole with, and the faster it is pulled in. In this regard, we have to remember that classical physics (like we're discussing right now) breaks down near a black hole. This kind of physics doesn't represent the behaviour of black holes accurately, thus we cannot argue with it. In fact, and object's mass itself changes as it gets closer to a black hole, so we cannot accurately predict behaviour using classical physics equations. Time itself also slows (and stops) - and without time, we have no 'accelleration over time'. We can't use F = ma when m is inaccurate and a doesn't exist. We must use general relativity physics. Jeremy's right in that if a heavy object is unable to break free, nor is a light object. However, it may be that the planet is technically able to escape, but they lack the resources to give it sufficient accelleration (as it would need more force to accellerate it due to being heavy.)

I really genuinely believe in the darkest part of my heart that cinemasins have had a negative impact on media and movie culture. This video is proof of that. Imagine watching a movie that came out literally before Thor (2011) that would somehow both predict and subvert so many of the super hero tropes that would become baked into public consciousness from Disney turning them out factory style and still deliberately missing the point of the so called "Story Contrives" and "plot holes". It's a fucking movie dude, it requires a plot!! Story telling is such an ancient craft that if you followed everyone of these "sins" and went out of your way to not do any of them, your story would be nigh unintelligible to anyone living. Additionally this movie also somehow grasped the concept of male entitlement and privilege and what any nerdy nice guy would probably actually do with super powers - go batshit and terrorize an entire fucking city because his lack of likable personality means no one wants to hang out with him. Hal Schewart is such a genius character and such a perfect foil to Megamind. Megamind doesn't get niceness because the extent of human interaction he's been a part of is prison and getting beaten. This is just how he thinks things work for "someone like him". But Hal has obviously lived in society his whole ass life and understands that you can use "nice" as a barter to get what you want. The first time anyone pushes back, he flips out. This is opposite to Megamind who takes Roxanne dumping him with dignity. Also! Dreamworks clearly loved making this movie. Look at it! Fucking look at the attention to detail! The fight with Titan happens in the morning, with the sun rising, which matches with Megamind's character arc. It is literally the start of a new day for him. Also, it matches with Roxanne, whose name literally means Dawn and is probably an allusion to the play Cyrano de Bergeac. But also look at the costumes Megamind wears! Tony Stark fucking wishes he had his style. Look at the expressions! Look at the buildings and how the 3D effect even comes through when Titan throws the building at the hovercycle. The actual biggest problem with this movie is how they flatten Roxanne Ritchi's character, but even then my girl is here in the climax about to hit a super over the head with a traffic sign ala DIO so even then, it should be something that can be over looked. But anyway, narration and credits. Ding! Edit: Just occurred to me considering what Hal's apartment looks like and the way he dresses/acts he'd probably really like CinemaSins. Maybe this explains the vitriol towards this film.

Megamind is a fantastic film, but it could do with a few more editing passes. Now, the *rest* of this video shows CinemaSins really dropping the ball as far as this film is concerned; I honestly can't figure out how they missed the central themes of self-determination and the inherent dangers in socially constructed identity. I came to this video to poke some good-natured fun at the rough edges of a cult classic, and found a bizarrely vindictive take on the film.
