Everything Wrong with my 1990 Mazda 323 ($350 Facebook Find)

There is a running list of things on this 1990 Mazda 323 that need to be fixed. We are only scratching the surface here, there is a lot of wrenching still to be done on this car. Total marketplace steal, though! With only 169xxxkms, this car definitely has life left and I plan on nursing it back to health. Stay tuned for more updates on this lil hatch!

Hi! I'm Lex, a low&slow JDM enthusiast and hobbyist mechanic from British Columbia, Canada. I love Japanese car culture and old, slow hatches. My love for cars started when I bought my 1991 4th Gen Ef Civic, a car that I spent 5 years building Kanjo style with ASR parts, a bodykit including a Chargespeed spoiler, Nardi steering wheel, imported Work Equip 01 wheels, and Skunk2 front suspension. I fell in love with car culture and the freedom I gained when I was able to fix my own cars and help my friends with theirs. I created SlowCarShop to instill confidence in those who may want to get into cars but don't know where to start, and to provide respite from the flex culture and egos that often infiltrate the automotive scene.
After years of owning my Civic, it was recently sideswiped on the highway by a trucker, and I am rebuilding it in my garage. Luckily, the car is saveable and will be driving Slow again soon!

I love 323's. I bought a brand new 1990 LX . I have one now I daily. I have 3 in various states of restoration. I have all the parts you need. A good engine also. I live in BC. Let me know if your interested.

My mom used to have one identical to this. Childhood memories. The car was going to get handed down to me, but it didn't have a tilt steering wheel and I was too tall to comfortably drive it. Without a slushbox that engine is surprisingly zippy.

Nah mate, the red rusty coolant is for extra cooling! The rust particles help to absorb the hotness from the engine!

I like the idea of keeping things close to original. There are so many people out there modding cars like this and your Honda, but not many people who preserve them and appreciate them as is. I have 2 Volvo 244s which I have kept all original, I have had multiple people tell me how great they are to put bigger engines in and make into race cars, but I am just not into that.

I have a 93 323 1.6L engine 5 speed. Very hard to find any parts anywhere. Bought mine for $400 and fixed it but it did the exact same thing to me as it did its original owners so the engine is getting swapped out for a 323 gtx 1.6L twin cam turbo...eventually. I'm jealous of your hatchback latch, my SE doesn't have that and it's key only but I do have ac.
