There's something powerful about the disrespect and use of power tools with the electronic components. It's like deranged prototyping.

All of his projects are like that stage of prototyping where you finally have a base design, you build it, realize it will need multiple redesigns, then try everything you can to get the current revision working.

What do you mean “shouldn’t have existed”?! This problem was as inevitable as the one about playing Gameboy games portably, which was elegantly solved by putting the Gameboy cartridge in a Super Gameboy player that’s slotted in a Super Boy, which is an unofficial portable SNES. No way that problem could’ve been avoided!

I think that, if it had been a smaller game, like the Super Mario Bros/Duck Hunt cartridge, you would have had enough space to put everything a little lower so you wouldn't have had to remove that dent from the back of the cartridge, and thus you wouldn't have faced the issue of not being able to insert the cart back and having to drill a hole to make it fit back.

Saw this video linked in a Discord server and, not knowing your channel or work, I was expecting the usual KZbin recipe Martha Stewart tier of perfectionist presentation and curated cleanness. I have never in my life been happier to be wrong. THIS is the kind of energy I can get behind, tearing stuff's guts out, accidentally breaking it and having to fix it again, just the true spirit of Tinkering With Shit. I definitely don't have anywhere near the knowledge and background you do but I do tend to open and fix my own shit a lot and this is exactly my speed in terms of the focus on functionality first, and totally embracing chaos. Loved every minute of this and will be subscribing to check out any future videos!

I feel entertained by this content because James is so knowledgeable and confident and at the same time a madman and crazed genius that I'm both scared and completely comfortable with what's going on. I trust the process even though I'm winging in my chair. Thanks for the content mate!

Fixing the trace with 0.1mm wire is not something I’ve seen before, very cool. I was trying to fix a clock in our kitchen last Friday, where the pcb was felt from battery oxidation, could try this. I won’t, but it’s cool to see that it’s possible. Inspiring stuff, great repair work! Thanks for including that in the Velcro as others have said.

You know, I always forget how destructive disassembles can get in these videos, so I'm always in a bit of shock whenever I see James breaking things apart with usually very little concern.

This is one of the coolest things I've seen someone make. A nes cartridge that can play other games, let alone ITSELF? Great job, man. Here's a sub.

I love this. You really went off the deep end at the last. I’m currently building a collection of briefcase cartridge systems with built in monitors. I dont do a lot of wiring but I did have to resolder my controller ports in my genesis. Now I have a super nes built into a vintage Panasonic camcorder case.
