If you're serious about this channel, working on the M5 is the answer! Don't cut corners, a complete underneath resto would be the best, powdercoat subframes, sound deadening paunt underneath, etc But that takes time and money, maybe get it running, sort the brakes out, so its driveable around the yard, to make sure the driveline is good. Once its a runner, then tackle it. But also, dont burn yourself out. Make a list of whats priority? How many cars have you currently got, what do you need, want, desire, whats just taking up space, has no sentimental value, etc

On eBay they do repair panels for the outer sill and arch for about 159 a side so might be worth doing. Plus it is an original m5 and therefore worth keeping.

The underbody definitely needs to be sandblasted, and the car should then be placed on a rotisserie to make the metalwork more manageable. I'm definitely looking forward to this project.

Feel ya on the remarks about avoiding electrical work...........painting however is probably the best aspect of working on cars; you should take a kick at the can it will completely change your thinking on working with old BMW's. The car is rough but it will haunt your dreams if you scrap it :) Cheers.

Josh find a good trimmer on you tube (maybe even the retropower guy and ask advice) and get them to do the seats, they can be getting done whilst you have a nightmare under this. Also have all the subframes powder coated etc. First. Go through all the spares and piece together the complete running gear sections even to getting good used subframes and starting with those if these are ultra scabby. this will help you alot and give you a boost. There is a huge amount of money sitting in the trunk, make sure you don't need it before you sell it. (it could pay for your trimming and other stuff) and you may find its the right height once all of it is out. Second. Spend a day getting it running, have a look at the belts etc. To hear it running will also be a morale booster. Jet wash all the moss first. Good Luck ;D

@@Joshwaa___ JOSH!! thanks for the reply just a heads up, if you need to remove the evostick from the panels soak it slowly in white spirit, it curdles it rather than dilutes it. it will turn into little slugs you can pick off the fabric. Don't use anything else it will seep into the fabric and you'll never get it out. Good luck. ps.Steam is also your friend, with conditioning the leather.

Where you said about the patches next to the sills, my mini still has original sills, but the floor was rotted through on the drivers side. I think it was down to the sunroof that leaked and water would sit on the floor rather then the sills.

hi josh. first of all, congratulations on an excellent channel with great content, you are very gifted with the ability to rescue these rotton cars. welding and fabrication is not an easy job and as a youngster you show real talent, well done. This latest video shows a rare BMW M5 in a poor state,oh yes but its found its way to you, fate,your the man who can do it. that car is in the right place, you ve just got to do it. its great content for the channel and yes its a mighty job but we want to watch all the way no matter how long it takes, do it at your pace ,when you can and when you can afford. its worth it ,its the pinnacle of BMW at that time. look what you have when completed. i say do it as i have just completed a rebuild on my BMW M535i e28 with a genuine 93000 miles, it cost me just over £18000 but whats it worth now. i very pleased with it, its a real head turner. you are a step ahead of me you can do the work yourself, massive massive saving, get on with it, good luck!

Break it and use the running gear for your ultimate 6 series build. That thing is a total money pit and time bandit. Pretty much needs a full resto not just a recommission, looks like it's got rubberised aftermarket underseal on too maybe? Will be so rotten under that as it traps in the moisture.
