I play musket/ice gauntlet, I love dodging, keeping distance, risking getting close to place my traps and ice and everything light gear has to offer. After reaching a watermark of 550, I felt I should just switch my light gear to the heavy that everyone plays and ever since I don't enjoy my gameplay, I really wish they make light gear relevant again, it's not that light gear is weak, it's that heavy gear is too strong...

Heavy gear is too strong for healers and dps. Its balanced for tanks because tanks dont do damage. They balanced heavy armor for pve as a tank would be holding aggro of lots of mobs inside expeditions. They shouldnt buff light armor because anyone with light already destroys tanks in pvp. They should just make some kind of requirement for heavy armor so that healers and dps cant use it. Mainly healers, they literally cant die.

@@paulmasters8666 The guy is doing nothing wrong actually. Everyone is wearing bugged heavy armor with resilience. Mix the lifestaffs, buffs, and con stack in and it is unkillable. You can see he is hitting people for 700 with musket shots. When he hits someone wearing non-bugged gear it was a 2.5k crit.

The numbers are needed for PVE sure, but way to overtuned for PVP compared to damage made, by any damage specs.. You cannot excuse that with "AGS are trying to make a different game".. It shouldn't be a game that has a lot of different options, but you are forced to play tank to do anything.. :)

This game is still in alpha in my opinion the systems they have in place don't work that well when it comes to players builds and balancing armor and weapons, the territories are another issue the only 2 that really make money are Everfall and Windsward and whoever holds them gets rich and becomes really hard to displace also those companies can always depend on the support of the entire faction because nobody wants to lose them, this game has deep seated problems i hope AGS can fix because for me it has huge potential...

As far as I'm aware, the only anti heal mechanic in the game right now is one skill in the hatchet, where you need to throw an hatchet that reduce heal by 30% for like 3 or 5 seconds... which is obviously not enough or even playable in the current state.

I saw this problem from a mile away.. I even told my friendgroup playign this game this will be happening. There's simple solutions: PvP buffs/debuffs. Or interaction with skilsl to actuallly apply healing debuffs. Or , here's an idea; Don't balance the game in such an uninteractive and unbalanced way; perks for example; +13 % headshot on a musket. Lifestaffed with blessed like +30% healing. So one weapon has to do headshots.. the other has to do NOTHING and the values are more than double. Like who comes up with this uninteractive unbalanced crap? One glance and you can notice this is done by a 3 year old.

At times, it feels like the devs never envisioned that people might still keep playing after reaching 60. It's all a broken mess, rewards sloppy plays/WEEKLY exploits and punishes those that try to be skillful with their build that stray away from the mold. The game is in a terrible state.

People are stacking passive healing effects from food '+ potion healing amount' from faction gear and other items. They're then just taking regen pots and it's healing them back to full health over and over again. There's people with medium armour who are surviving 6 people pounding on them. So broken.

@@neverending5316 You can stack the short duration big heal from the food, but not the longer duration passive tick healing of the food. So if you're not taking any damage you can eat multiple types of food and heal to full quickly but it is worthless when getting hit.

That would work at level 60 when tanks can still have about 100 str with 300 con. But lower level tanks wont have good con if they have to pump str in order to use heavy armor. Maybe it could work if the str requirement scaled off of level. But im sure some tanks would be unhappy that they cant pump 400 con, if anyone even does this lol.

Or decreasing the elemental dmg side dramatically and physical dmg slightly from the heavy Armor. At least in pvp encounters. To make them getting countered from mages at least.

I think this just highlights the difference between a build that slaps in 1 on 1's or even 2-3 on 1's but doesn't work in any group pvp setting. Rapier+musket is good in small pvp settings but if you get into a war you'll quickly realize the only three good builds are either full con + heavy armor + hatchet and basically just stand on the point, full int fire+ice gauntlet and drop aoes (lag is so bad you cant aim at anyone so aoe damage is only hope), or healing. Any other build in war/outpost rush is fucking your team at the moment.

Except heavy armor isn't broken, idk why so many dingleberries seem to think it is. It's the resilience perk from faction gear that instead of reducing crit damage reduces ALL damage. That combined with broken onyx gems that ALSO reduce ALL damage instead of physical only like they're supposed to. This comes out to a flat 60% damage reduction from all sources. ON TOP OF THAT the bread buff in Outpost Rush gives ANOTHER 20% damage reduction AND 30% damage buff on top of that. Heavy armor is a tiny, minor portion of the damage reduced. It is almost entirely bugged out traits and gems that are the problem with the "heavy armor" meta.

The life staff itself isn’t the issue. If you fix heavy armor decreasing healing output like it should, fix the food stacking, fix resilient, then the life staff is actually doing its job to keep players alive for X time longer than they should without. WITH all the exploits it’s putting the life staff in a bad light as if THATS what’s making people immortal.

Without resilient and food exploit then the time to kill someone is marginally lower than it is now. Yes you COULD 0-100 heal yourself yet in light armor you were ALSO squishy enough that with enough focus and CC from enemies you ACTUALLY die still instead of this “I’m tanky and immortal” bullshit that’s going on now

Heavy armour is fine, i have no problem killing them as Spear / Hatchet melee dps user. The problem is that the healing numbers are severely overtuned. I stand back in Outpost Rush and will watch 6+ of my team mates throw everything at a Heal Staff / Great Axe heavy armour user for over 60 seconds. They just can not kill him because the healing numbers are just out of this world. I don't usually call for nerfs in video games, i like to buff other things to compete with what is meta. But this is situation is just untenable.

Actually what they can do is restricting Perks/Skills bonuses and stats bonuses for DEX, INT & FOC ONLY available on Medium & Light Armors, while STR & CON available on all types. You can use heavy armors for any build but ONLY get Perks/Skills/Stats bonuses for STR & CON builds and will miss out the bonuses for your build from Medium and Light armors. I think it will bring down the Heavy Meta for Light-Mid Healers and Mages as they lose their damages/healing, and if the Full STR DPS decides to go heavy, they lose their mobility as what we have seen currently in game.

Heavy-Players in pvp can have damage reduction up to 70%, so 15k health is more like 50k effective health. What that means is you need to effectively deal 3-4k damage for every tick of 1k heal he gets (and with the current bugs active he can tick like 5 times a second). 1k heal ticks + targeted heal + pots is already easily twice the amount of hp a DD can destroy in regeneration. Multiply this by 3-4 and you literally can't kill a lifestaff-user with less than 5 strong players. It's straight up mathematically not possible - without a ridiculously long chain of stuns - to kill a single healer with 3 or even 4 DDs with full BIS Equipment.

That is actually a GREAT idea. Or honestly even light armor. That’s how it is in a lot of other games. You pay the price for being a healer. Yes, you’re an extremely valuable player on your team, but you’re also extremely vulnerable. New World pvp is unplayable right now (unless you go heavy armor/great axe/hatchet/life staff.

I suggest you to test with some friends in outpost the use of debuffs, for musket the right side skills are all debuffs agaisnt tanks and others. One trap is able to maximize in 20% all the damage the person will take. If you pay attention they have buffs, but no one on your team is applying debuffs and instead they are trying to do direct damage. That is my point of view in this, but if they survive that long even with debuffs being applied then it needs restriction on requirements to use heavy armor.

Life Staff is also definitely strong, but I don't think only lowering the healing until it's not worth it anymore is a good answer.

They probably balanced heavy armor for tanks who have to hold aggro of lots of mobs in expeditions. They could add some kind of requirement in order to use heavy armor. So that only main tanks and off tanks can use it. Maybe a 100 str req at level 60 would work. This way tanks can still hit 300 con. And focus, int, and dex builds wont be able to use heavy armor.

Another idea could be to take from Runescape and make it to where anyone wearing heavy armor gets debuffs to damage or healing when using ranged weapons. But at this point, they could just make it to where heavy armor can only be worn with weapons that scale off of strength.

@@wakichunu I see the appeal of a strength requirement, but I think that limits possible build variety too much. I was thinking something along the lines of reducing damage/healing output and increasing cooldowns on abilities. Combine that with potentially reducing the amount of healing you can give to yourself with the Life Staff plus changing the cooldown timers and duration of abilities, and you might get a reasonable window of time to kill people using Heavy Armor/Life Staff without overly nerfing their staying power. It's really just the combination of the two together that is the problem, so nerfing the synergy is what they should do, not overly nerfing both of them in general.

I don’t think they should get an increase in healing received as they are already tanky af. But I agree on the decrease on healing given. Maybe not as much as 50% but a considerable amount that’s not game breaking or not viable.

One of the problems with an open ended class/weapon system. The reason classes were a thing, was because they kept rails on a system that could be potentially wild. I mean new world doesn't have very many abilities for each class so it's not very difficult to balance, but even with the few amount of abilities, we see combos that just simply break the game. Also I hate playing without the life staff because PvE can be extremely annoying, constantly eating and taking consumables between fights. It's just exhausting. So that's a problem in itself. People wanna Nerf the heal staff and heavy armor, but perhaps we should buff other things to bring them in line.

using weapons like bow and musket feels like punching at a plastic bag because even when it's a headshot, I only damaged the enemy a teeny tiny bit. It's not even worth wasting all that ammo and arrow just for them to straight up tanking shot and drink large HP potion and it's start over again.

Heavy armor and life staff are not the issue. Resilient perk and onyx gems reducing all damage done are the main problem here. Oh and prolly the multiple food stacking buffs.

Mage weapons aren’t even working right now properly just their auto attack really. Pillar doesn’t work and ig ice storm is a 50/50 on whether or not it ticks for damage

If you aren’t using heavy armor and you’re trying to be a somewhat consistent PvPer you should take a moment ask yourself “why?” There are very few drawbacks to using heavy or medium armor that being, at least in my opinion: mobility, which can be compensated via weapon choices. I said it before and I’ll say it again life staff is broken, it just is. It’s tuned for PvE and not PvP, people have this misconception that if it doesn’t out DPS weapons like Axe, Hatchet, etc it couldn’t possibly be OP. I assure you that the damage of the life staff was never apart of the puzzle that makes it as broken as it is now.

Because you can kite big cringe meta groups with light and pick them off 1 by 1 and watch them get upset. Way more satisfying than any heavy armor garbo build. Medium isn't as bad and can be killed/outplayed, but heavy is just op as shit. Still, don't succumb to meta trash cause when it's nerfed, you're going to be a trash can. I will continue playing light and laugh hysterically when people in heavy armor don't actually know how to play the game later. While I'm practicing my dodges and evades heavy armor peeps be holding w, switching to lifestaff and pressing q. Now, should pure melee builds use heavy? Sure. Should tanks? Sure. Should mages? No. Should dex ranged? No. Should healers? No, but they can. But if they choose to, there should be drawbacks, like reduced healing. And I don't mean 0%, more like - 20%. And fix resilience, good start. Light heals should be 20% (but squishy) medium should heal 0% flat, heavy armor - 20%. Imo. Could do with a rework of physical/ele resist weights too but that's asking for a lot.

i think what needs to happen is up the cooldown on the abilities which heals for a shit ton. knowing damn well they prolly stacking cooldowns as well already. only thing to kill them is by hard cc. you cant let them cast that ability LOL

Hey, this looks exactly like my gameplay when I hop into OR. Isn't it so fun doing less damage than a single hatchet light attack? The musket is so fun to use, but gdamn is it shooting wet noodles. Hell, I was shooting a guy yesterday and doing ~124 a hit. Gotta love that heavy armor nonsense.

This unbalance problem is easy to fix Just make the heavy armor can tank alot of physical but very weak to magic damage And make light very weak to physical and can stood up on magic damage Medium have both but not that high. Its will fix alot and everyone can die

Ive played as a healer in many mmos and healing in this game is strange af. Yes, heavy armor + life staff is dumb, It takes a LOT of damage to kill you so you just facetank everything. During Outpust It takes almost 2 PTs to kill me. But unfortunately the game "forces" you to play heavy armor at endgame. Light armor DOESNT give you 20% healing bonus and you are squeeshy af and medium armor DOESNT give you the sustain that heavy does. Heavy armor is the way. Im not saying this is good but for healer is "kinda" necessary atm. They could rework armor's weight attributes.

thats a bug exploit, i run full heavy void armor and lifestaff, i cant tank 3 ppl, barely 2 ppl. Every strike is like 1000-2000 damage, and i get knocked away to death xD, then you have *Certain* Individuals running exactly the same build and only taking 300-500 damage

Things wrong with this game: 1. Non-target combat is so shit especially if you have ping more than 50-70ms 2. Questing system is one of the most boring in an MMO that I ever seen 3. Server capacity of 2000 people for such huge map is not enough, have to be at least 2 times more 4. Amount of bugs with duplicating gold, equipment etc. is amazing 5. Amount of bugs with wrong calculation of damage bonuses is amazing 6. Lags during sieges are amazing 7. Servers updates always made in a wrong time and not on schedule IS AMAZING 8. Broken circle of healing which never fixed 9. Broken instance mechanics & game freezes or crashes during loot 10. Poor optimization of high level zones & instances AND MANY MORE Honestly, this game should've just stay survival genre from beginning as it was planned! I have no idea why Amazon decided to make an MMO from this, because if they really wanted to make an MMO they simply could start making "Lord of the Rings" which they have already bought many years ago. If that was survival game it would just win the market now with its graphics and interesting craft system! And of course without full loot system this game looks very boring. p.s. sorry for broken english. I am russian.

Musket is the lowest damage weapon, maybe comparable with spear. Because it's a hit scan, it relies on headshots to do any damage - which is unreliable or even close to impossible in this game and how combat plays out.

ive said this sience launch, healers are not tanks and they shoulnt be rewarded for going heavy armor. heavy armor should have -60% healing debuff , medium -30% and light +5% its one thing playing full tank and using a lifestaff to remove debuffs or whatever, but going lifestaff to play tank is pure stupid. a healer should never be able to outheal a dps, not to mention 7 dps.

@@Obtite I agree and disagree with this. Heavy armor definitely needs to he toned down but disagree healers shouldn't be able to outheal dps. Healers already do far less damage then most everyone. If you remove both their survivability while they can't kill anything, no one will play healers. Tone down heavy armor, that is it.the healing itself is fine.

@@Obtite but isn't that the point I made? Why would anyone play a role if they do no damage, and cant survive? If you take a priest for example, they have other means to do their job. Damage reduction or skill based abilities. New world doesn't have that. Your telling healers to just stand there and die becuase people are abusing other elements of the game. It's not the healing, it's the bugged Onyx gems, it's legendary heavy Armour. It's the resilience bug. Just saying "nerf healing" isn't putting much thought or effort into fixing the actual problem, it's a knee jerk reaction based on emotion.

@@christophermontana139 the problem am giving you here is the fact healers are not suppose to be a jack of all trades. mages tend to be squishy and their damage is suppose to be reflected based on their choice of armor , and them going heavy is a death sentence due to a lack of survivability. tanks needs to go heavy to survive lots of damage whilst still beeing able to be disruptive with cc and other forms of buff applying and so on. healers however, has been so cuddled sience beta that they have gotten all the tools they need to be immortal and healing , beeing a borderline impossible piece to kill. in other games, healers are usally restricted to some form of light armor, the obvius advantage of healers is that they are a priceless player on your team your team is suppose to protect. now when they can survive all by their own there is a problem. there is no diffrence between a good healer with good possitioning against a bad healer with bad possitioning, sience they can be whereever they want with their heavy armor. i watched 6 dps , 4 of them beeing meele yesterday, struggle to kill a single healer, not due to a lack of damage or cc, just cause the healer takes to little damage and he places 2 healing circles on the ground he just has to stay inside. just incase this will be your arguement.. perma cc is not a form of counterplay, cause anything gets smacked with perm cc. i myself respec to healer for wars simply cause how absurdly easy it is and how usefull you are.lack of mechanical knowlage doesnt get punished and basicly the only way to die is to unplug your keyboard.

Man, i feel this pain, my main class was mage dps and when i reached the endgame i realized its impossible for pvp. Lag, Bugs, its all wrong and i love the game, i really want to play. Well, it's time for another pj and a fresh start. Sadly the endgame in this game is trash right now.

easy fix , just make heavy attribute points lower than their med/light counterparts. 22str on light should be like 15str on heavy.

The problem is the armor and healing/damage isn’t working correctly. Should be 20% less healing in heavy and also 20% more damage in light. But neither of those figures work. It’s a flat 0% all round. It’s a bug that everyone knows about, except this comment section.

Heavy's description doesn't even say it should get negative healing so where are you seeing this? Light says 20% more healing but heavy doesn't say less so we can assume it's set to 0% intentionally.

@@borges3099 healing was nerfed 20% from the beta patch notes. Then medium gave a +10% and light gave +20%. The problem is they all give +20% as it’s bugged.

That guy is using the heavy armor + onyx exploit and life staff, they are literal tanks with infinite heals if they have their life staff build set up where sacred ground cool down just doesnt exist. Unlike hatchet beserk, the sacred ground cool down counts down the second it gets put down and when you spec into focus, you can just chain it. I have it where, my cooldown ends even before the duration of the sacred ground ends, its insane. As of now, despite the aoe nerfs to life staff, healers are still unkillable.

Heavy armor is only OP with lifestaff. Musket and bow needs a buff vs heavy armor. Firestaff/ice gaunt light armor builds melt heavy armor. They need to disable heavy armor with lifestaff. As a tank with 100 str and 300 con, I can survive anything but firestaff/icegaunt or GA builds. But in expeditions if heavy armor was nerfed I would not be able to tank.

You shouldnt be able to kill them if they are heavy healer. Cause they can’t kill you either as you will just roll away. They can be killed by CC. And that’s how the game supposed to be ranged dps kills mage dps, mage dps kills cc, cc kills heavy healers and heavy healers will kill ranged dps if u don’t roll away. I don’t think it should be where everyone can kill everyone cause then what’s the point of roles.

Where is the coordination, target calling? If your all stacking random targets and they have 5 healers, it's not the games fault lol. I agree lifestaff in PvP is overturned, but with the fix to resilliant perk, removal of macro glitch. They ain't un-killable with a little communication.
