I already brought this up in my rogercop review, but I think this episode’s biggest sins are how it handled the message of not being quick to point fingers; namely how it is so anti-marinette for no reason. She’s trying to stick up for herself saying if she’s going to be searched, why not search everyone else, because it’s clear she’s only getting “special”treatment because…Chloe’s gotta chloe, but rather than calling chloe out, they choose to ridicule marinette for accusing everyone like Chloe was doing to her when she wasn’t. Yes, the line “if anyone has stolen it, it’s gotta be one of us” doesn’t help her case, nor does her excluding Adrien especially considering he actually WAS the one who stole it disregarding plagg, but still, She wasn’t even trying to accuse everyone and yet everyone would rather condemn her than Chloe! As for rogercop, even with cat noir saying “You can’t accuse someone without proof” and ladybug saying she can’t let him accuse everyone of every little wrongdoing…with the exception of Fred, he had every reason to punish these people! Yeah, Ms bustier’s punishment was excessive, but she still confessed to her crimes. With ladybug and cat noir, they were trying to stop him from arresting a corrupt mayor, with cat noir quipping “you can add bodily harm to the charges”, which is not even helping his case! All he needed now was a built in camera to record cat noir saying that and show it off a la Robocop. And do I even need to bring up the mayor? Ladybug, You’re trying to say that he’s accusing the mayor of abusing his power? Need I remind you that he was the VICTIM of his abuse of power, in front of an ENTIRE CLASSROOM FULL OF STUDENTS, and did you forget the tiny little fact that YOU WERE RIGHT THERE WHEN IT HAPPENED?! And you’re condemning Roger for it?! Like…were their actions perfect? Not exactly, but how is it that when marinette try to stick to the “Innocent until proven guilty” belief, they get condemned for it, while Chloe and the mayor actively go against it and only get a slap on the wrist from everyone aside from the villain of the day?! This concludes my Ted talk on why Rogercop is a horrible episode.

I agree that Marinette was right to feel unfairly accused, but I also agree with the other commenters that the way she handled it only made it worse. She and everyone else should've just let the adults search their bags--after all, stealing is a real thing that happens, so it's not really that insulting. Not to mention she would've been vindicated if she had just let them search her bag and prove she didn't take it. Regardless, you are completely correct with the Rogercop points . . . the mayor is blatantly corrupt in all of the episodes he's in, and he definitely deserves everything that's coming to him . . . Honestly, when I think about it, the whole concept of Miraculous is kind of weird. It's all about superheroes defending people who made someone else feel awful (since the target of most akumatized villains is the person who made them sad/angry) . . . obviously most people don't do it on purpose or deserve retribution, but some people like the mayor and Chloe really deserve some akumatized justice. XD But anyway, yeah, it was just overall a really weak episode.

Additional Sin: Gabriel not showing up to the parents event at ALL is a testament to his terrible parenting. It’s not like he’d be forced to stay, and even if he was expected to stay, everyone in that room, including Adrien, would probably be understanding that he had to go, because he’s a very busy man. All that would need to happen is him going before Marinettes dad. He’d be able to be there for his son and get home in time to akumatize Rogercop. He’s a terrible person and at this point I don’t even care that he’s doing it to save his wife’s life as he’s ruining his son’s life in the process.
