One of my favorite things about this is the fight between Mina and Dorian, because of one single effect. During the fight, they both get injured, and when they start healing, it's entirely different from one another - the painting dust crumbles, and the vein-y healing. It's honestly quite nice to see that attention to detail when they could have skimped out on it all and just had both their wounds closing up normally. Anyways: Like most in the comments, I really liked this movie.
@MegaZeta2 жыл бұрын
Dorian Gray, I appreciate the creative use of him… but, while I realize the commercial reasons, I feel the source’s “Mina as coach experienced in managing ‘unusual’ types” is more interesting than just “Mina as vampire”.

I recognize that, despite the fact that I didn't hate them. Really? I thought this interpretation completely missed the point of her. She was (in the book) the leader of this group of extraordinary gentlemen for her mind and leadership abilities, not some half assed superpowers. When questioned by Nemo as to why she, the only woman and the only one without an exceptional past (that they knew of), was in charge. She flatly told him that she was "accustomed to dealing with powerful men." She never reveled more than that and lead with her wits much like she did in Dracula. Of course these idiots not only fucked up her character, they fucked every single other one. None of them (in the movie) act at a like they should. It's like the idiots who made this movie skimmed through the source comic once and never even thought about the original characters at all. This film is shit and gets the disrespect it deserves.

@Snipergoat13 жыл бұрын
@@pvshka This movie is not hated because of the plot. It is hated because it failed to deliver on the one thing it promised. To see what happens when you take these singular people and put them together with common cause. Instead they took these characters with over a century of background each and turned them into two dimensional Hollywood troupes. They could have just as easily made these characters act as they should have. How difficult would it have been to introduce Quartermain in an opium den, a wreck of a man and stoned out of his mind. He was so bad that Mina questioned recruiting him at all. How hard would it have been to not give them fucking superpowers? Tom Sawyer wasn't in the graphic novel this is based on - he was added to make the movie more accessibly to American audiences. For that matter, Mina didn't have vampire powers, Dorian Gray wasn't in the graphic novel and the plot is completely different. It was two warring crime syndicates, one led by Professor Moriarty and one by Fu Manchu. If they had just stuck to the original source material I think this would have been a hundred times better.
