This has been going on for decades now😂the problem started when stars weren't in the slam dunk competition anymore. All-star weekend was about seeing the best of the best. Somehow it turned into a complete circus. Rookie games, rookies dunk competition, women players, skills competition etc.😂😂

Viewership is not everything. And even that is not down by much. The overall consumption of the NBA has increased, just not televised viewers.

Because player empowerment went too far and players are soft, lazy, entitled and have no competitive edge. There is no rivalry. Star players who came up the league together on opposing teams don’t make a career out of trying to defeat each other; they devise, collude and scheme to play together some day. Then the rules are crap. Too many threes, no traveling any more(the gather step is the dumbest rule in sports), the reason you can take steps while driving already existed, now they watered it down so much its ridiculous. Flopping should be a technical foul. And these are all “features” LeBron made possible. Because he abused player empowerment more than any other athlete in professional sports.

Reduce the cost on the consumer (tickets, venue food/bevs, merchandise, etc) & Reduce the pay of the ballers to coincide with the reduction of revenue Their profit margins can stay the same and they'll get less entitled players. 10s of millions of dollars is too much money to play a GAME....

I rarely watch full games anymore during the regular season, just the highlights. Too many threes, little defence, no intensity, soft fouls, too many stoppages, lack of team style diversity, no rivalries, little trash talk, stars resting, overpaid and entitled coaches and stars …. 90s basketball was so much more enjoyable for me. Teams probably need to start giving high-profile players the Zion type of contract where more money becomes non garunteed at different amounts of games missed. Obviously still gotta be some protection for players for legitimate injury and health concerns cause organizations are dirty af, (Bulls literally almost got Luol Deng killed, Celtics destroyed IT's career, Nets ruined James Hardens prime, Warriors rushed KD back, ect.) but at least with some repercussions less players be sitting out for literally no reason.

The players have too much power and make too much money. Zion is making 190 million guaranteed and doesn’t play. How could anyone at any job take as serious when they get that amount of money that they didn’t even truly earn. The nfl is a little messed up how they do contracts but there’s a reason. Jamar chase didn’t get the contract extension and is going crazy this season to EARN that contract. These nba players are getting paid too much guaranteed too early in their careers without actually proving if they deserve these large contracts. Something has to change it seems the players don’t even care anymore that’s why we are seeing these crazy amount of 3pt attempts. I think they need to restructure how they do contracts because giving them guaranteed millions before they even really prove if they are going to be a superstar is ridiculous.

They dont care about the kids who idolize them and look to them for inspiration and motivation. The game is all about "getting the bag" to 90% of these star players, especially the American ones. Guys like Luka, Giannis, and Jokic all understand the idea of hard work & putting their best foot forward. Its clear most of these guys are soft celebrities FIRST, & good basletball players SECOND. They take their fame for granted and could care less about what makes them famous, the fans.
