Thursday: Action sins from the aughts.
Remember, no movie is without sin. Which movie's sins should we count next?

There is nothing in this movie to sin that was not meant to be bad^^ Just do not expect a hard action Arnold flick. Let the fun seep in. And BTW the side quest with Bill Paxton and they taking it up in the end is ABSOLUTELY LEGENDARY!! The subverted expectation when he kills him...but it was just his first impulse he was able to suppress. Just epic. Him getting out of the wet suit with a tuxedo beneath it.... the subtitle telling us he is speaking perfect Arabic even if we can hear he is not... And let's not forget this is one of Eliza Dushkus (playing the daughter) first roles and she will kill it later in Buffy and Dollhouse etc. No, I agree often, but this time I can't. This movie is great and nothing can change that.

I agree. There are alot of good things about this movie. One is Bill Paxton as car salesman/sleazy fake spy, trying to get some from Arnie's wife Jamie Lee Curtis. While test driving a car, Bill's telling Arnie he's a major babe magnet and telling Jamie he's got alot in common with James Bond (he boasts about his supposed penthouse in NY while actually living in a trailer). 6:04 - 6:16 - I can't believe that this is that same guy who played douchbag bully Chet less than 10 years earlier. Bill Paxton is one talented actor to be able to play 2 characters so different from each other that you'd really believe they are 2 different people if you didn't know from the credits that it's Bill Paxton and hadn't seen any other movies with him in them

The salesman driving the Corvette is probably the *most* realistic part of this movie. My dad has been selling used cars forever and he's always driving them home instead of his own cars. Usually it's whatever is old and needs to be moved, or something that has an issue and needs a code set or just got back from the mechanic and needs a few miles on it to make sure they got it fixed. But yeah, he's taken home Jags, Corvettes, a Hummer and a Landrover, a whole slew of nice pickups, a few BMWs, and a Cadillac every so often.

The “makes you want to stand up for buttermilk” isn’t even Paxton’s worst line in that scene. His description of her butt should’ve warranted about 1 million sins, but his character alone and how well Paxton played sleazy used car salesman trying to seduce MILFs(before that was a popular term) should’ve taken off a few sins 😜. And RIP Bill Paxton. Also have to nitpick that the sin of Tia Carrere’s trigger discipline in the limo totally warranted a Pulp Fiction Vincent and Jules driving Marvin supercut scene in the outtakes 😉

Not everyone is a spineless coward, some people can see forward enough to know they're likely dead regardless and hold out for hope of rescue or again, at the very least, spite. It did make the news. Harry's wife was reading about it in the paper at the cafe. The car salesman took credit for it. Like you said, in the 90s, there were no cell phones, and security tapes wouldn't be released to the public, except to identify a suspect. In real life, the CIA operates outside of the US jurisdiction, not within the US. The case would have been a Federal investigation, alongside ATF, once the scale was discovered. Until then, it would have been investigated by the local precinct. Movie has to movie, though. I still enjoy the hell out of this movie after all these years.

"Bad guy fires at the pole but does not hit Tom Arnold! That's five sins easy!" No, that should be a sin off! You really should look this stuff up, if for no other reason than it's actually really interesting. Not only is it not surprising that he didn't hit Tom Arnold, the odds of him hitting Tom Arnold in this scenario is actually really low. It's one of the rare things about gun fighting that they actually got DEAD ACCURATE! YES! He hits the pole because he's actually a good shot and simply reacted instead of aiming carefully! This is real! This is common! It's insane! It's thoroughly documented! It's nuts, but it's absolutely true!!! Fun fact: When Jamie Lee Curtis falls during the strip tease, that's a blooper. She doesn't break character and comes right back up, and Cameron loved it so much he kept it in the movie.
