What people just don't get is that when MSTR gets added to the QQQ's and then to the S&P 500 then there will be forced buying of MSTR shares. It won't matter if MSTR market cap is 3X its BTC holdings; MSTR has limited outstanding shares. Forced buying of those limited shares will cause the price of MSTR to rise. Fundamentals will NOT matter. In a cap weighted index fund, the bigger MSTR gets the more the index has to buy the shares. Some investors around the world cannot buy straight bitcoin and so they buy MSTR. There is also cult following of MSTR who knows this information as well as some large hedge funds who know it and continue to buy MSTR shares despite its trading way above its total bitcoin value. People keep saying that it is just better to own bitcoin because MSTR is trading at such high multiple over its bitcoin holdings. And that is just not true. You have to consider the fact that there will be forced buying of MSTR shares. It will be the limited float and demand for the shares that drives the price up.

​@@SouthernBitcoiners the difference to tesla is, that every time bitcoin price increases it's an indication of microstrategies bitcoin strategy working. Whereas with tesla every time they made fals predictions on how fast they will be developing technology, investors see it as tesla failing to deliver. As we know there is almost a guarantee that bitcoin price will increase over the long run, creating infinite positive feedback to investors that microstrategies bitcoin strategy works. That is not the case with tesla. If they are under constant pressure to deliver on their promises. And if they fail there is no one getting them out of it. As long as microstrategy doesn't sell their bitcoin, things basically run themselves, because bitcoin is an indicator with no counter party risk.

@@SouthernBitcoiners I don't think you are looking at TSLA stock chart right. When people started to front run TSLA inclusion in the S&P from then to about 12 months after that TSLA tripled. TSLA has 3 billion shares or more outstanding. What people don't see is the MSTR only had 220 million shares outstanding at the max. And so you will have large dollars going after a tiny amount of shares. There are 220 million shares and Saylor owns about 10% and several big hedge funds and Trad fi companies like Blackrock own stakes of 5% or more. Then there are the cult followers like me who will never sell the stock. And so there may only be 50 million shares that are tradable and they will have billions of dollars forced to buy them.

Semler, yeah. For a short time, it made waves on X/Twitter for being one of the first public companies to adopt a BTC treasury strategy (after MicroStrategy and Metaplanet). And it's especially nice that they're a real health care business, not some financial or crypto company for whom it might be a natural step. Their stock has also been doing quite well since then. Oh and they have a very successful OG fund manager on the board (Eric Semler), who I think helped initiate the strategy, at least there's a good interview with him about it on KZbin.

any thoughts on late 24 GAAP accounting changes? My understanding is MSTR assets/capital are going to explode when they mark to market but I'm only 75% on this.

The biggest benefit I see is helping MSTR meet the eligibility criteria for S&P 500 inclusion. The accounting rule change doesn't materially change the fundamentals of the business, so I'm less optimistic about some of the wilder takes on it. I think a multiple to NAV blowout is more likely to come from a simultaneous gamma and short squeeze if BTC makes a big move up.

Hello, Every body! An important observation on Microstrategy 's price coefficient to BTC prices. MSTR used to trade on a coefficient of 39.5 to 40.5. ie BTC price/MDTR price Started August 2, market opened and the coefficient is now 43.5, almost a 10% hidden devaluation since yesterday earnings release. It may not be worthwhile holding MSTR at this coefficient. Just as well holding BTC direct. I hope I am not wrong on this

What do you mean in a big way? Of course you can assume it crashing by 90%, but then again I could also assum the sun exploding tomorrow. So there is really no point in that. Bitcoin is extremely unlikely to crash to a point where microstrategy gets liquidated, so they will have no problems paying back the bond holders.
