I've seen ppl do the same, taking out personal loans of $20-35k to buy bitcoin - obviously a huge risk with volatility as you mentioned - but based on their math back in 2017 and 2020, they bankrolled that massively. They not only paid off their loan debts, they're investing with house money. I completely understand the logic, when I did so back in 2022, it was bad timing with the global economy tanking, the war, etc. All good, I made sure to manage what I could pay down, and have since pivoted and adjusted. Now I'm getting ready for the next leg with a much greater understanding of market cycles, paying attention to the 4 phases til Altcoin season. I'm excitedly more ready and calculated this time around. Love what you're breaking down, Mark!

Not really part of the Saylers strategy but working in his favor: -firms who think BTC will fail are shorting mstr but getting squeezed as it continues to rise. -firms who think BTC will succeed but don't understand the glitch and the advantage of a 0.8% loan advantage (ahem Kerrisdale Capital) are shorting mstr but getting squeezed as it continues to rise. - MSTR is in a few small cap indexes but as it grows it is likely to join the sp500. So all those chuckle heads who are anti BTC and "will just stick to the s&P like Warren says" are going to be passively buying MSTR. Which means they will be buying BTC. The irony is delicious.

This is a great strategy i took advantage of. Borrowed 100k on top of one of my investment properties at a 6.6% rate increasing my monthly repayments by only $90-$100, then put that 100k into bitcoin. Everyone can use this strategy on all scales, you just need the right mindset.

Yes, the prerequisite is that your asset has to keep increasing in value. Imagine an asset that appreciates even just 10% per year, and each year you borrow 10% to pay off your initial loan and the buy more of that asset with left over. Compound growth? Check, infinite money. Problem is if your asset plumet, and you over leverage, you're in trouble of losing it all.
@chucke756Ай бұрын
Yes good point. If your interest cost equals or exceeds your investment gain then you are losing money; however if the reverse is happening then you are making money through leverage. Buffett even though he has tons of cash borrows money through issuance of bonds and uses leverage to make even more money. But when leverage works against you you can get roasted. Good luck all!!

But bitcoin at current ~60k price inflates at 9.8B per year. The cost to mine each bitcoin is around 50k. No matter how you put it, the mining companies have to get that money from somewhere and they will have to sell some coins. If they are well capitalized, they can wait out and sell later. That's why price is not going up because the big players know they will just get dumped on when price is too far above cost to mine. Bitcoin will go up after miners sell.

I bought 2 bitcoin at $40,000 wanting to exit with at least $200,000 but at the moment i am worried that bitcoin won't get to $100k in this bull run, as post halving has not seen bitcoin break its ATH. I need advice, should i cashout now and put my money in safe investments or still hangon?

Don't pay attention to short term price movements. bitcoin is a long game!

I was in a similar situation a few years ago; I took profits, but it went higher. Realizing I wasn't good at timing the market, I started working with an advisor, which helped me build a $1.6m stock and crypto portfolio. It all comes down to insight and patience. Remember, time in the market is better than timing the market.
