Aloha Taylor, I think it’s high time that you do a video series on Wiring harnesses and options for wiring in ditch lights, fog lights and overhead LED light bars on vehicles, along with differences between older vehicles verses newer vehicles. LED lights can make older trucks and Jeeps a lot more attractive. Plus incorporating Anderson Power Pole connectors is a big hit these days also.

If you have a front number plate on your bumper, you can get a bracket that gets installed where the number plate goes. You screw it into the original number plate mounting location, install the plate into the bracket and you will now have a mounting spot for a 20" lightbar or so or even some of those round/rectangle aux lights. These are common in Australia for your normal passenger car to get some extra lights added.

Good video, but I almost clicked off it after hearing the first question. Are bumper lights even worth it?? I do 90% of my lighting from the bumper. All of my forward road lighting is from the bumper. I have ditch lights and overhead lights to illuminate possible campsites or other items of interest. This is after building rigs and adding lights since 1976. The very first performance lighting I bought was from a new company called KC HiLites. Like everyone else was doing, I loaded my roof with them. It was all driven by offroad racing, but it didn't take long to realize that this was a mistake for a non-race vehicle. After a couple of years of blinding glare, I became the king of uncool by getting my lights off the roof. For some people though, being cool is actually more important than seeing where you are going. I even had friends that mounted lights on the roof that weren't even wired. Not a bad option actually. I fully understand why race vehicles have them, and when and how they can be a benefit, but for non-race applications, mounting below the hoodline IS the ticket.

Hi thanks for the awesome video. I have a question. I have a front mounted push bar (like on the F150 police truck) with a winch and brush guards over light areas. Where is the best place to mount two spot/flood lights? In the center above the winch area or on the roll bars over the lights area where the driving high and low beams are, so in line but in area that doesn't obstruct the current lights but add to them once turned on?

I have a w126 and the high beams are way to dark so I installed some hella 500ff driving lights. Problem is, that the halogen h3 is way to dark. Does anyone have some recommendations for some good h3 bulbs?

So what would be a good pair of lights that are street legal for rainy, foggy, snowy in town driving.....especially early or late in the day night time conditions. I like yellow lighting

I still recommend halogen lamps in a driving light pattern. That’s what I installed on my old Montero. It floods nicely and it’s not so intrusive or annoying for being too bright, reflective signs aren’t blinding. For snowy roads, amber warm halogen light is better than excesively bright 6000k LED blueish light.
