Did the dealer recommend what size would be equivalent to your 6048 if/when you want to make the switch? I'm just curious because have a 6048 as well and have been considering upgrading in the next few years

@@Homesteadhow I don't really know because I was only heating my shop with the old one and now i'm heating my house to but i do think it burns less I don't think it would be enough for you to go spend 15k on one when yours work i would wait until it starts leaking. I got my 5648 for free because it leak I welded it back up and got a couple years out of it enough to know i want to keep heating with would so i spent the money for a new one

Instead of warm air solution for the heating up the house wouldnt you think its more effective and silent with a radiator system around the house connected to woodboiler watertank instead ?

Does using antifreeze change the manufacturer's warranty? Seems to me that people would need to leave their homes once in a while during winter without the hassle of draining and refilling the system.

So silly question..so if u have one and it heats the water in ur water tank hiw wld u have hot water in the warmer mths if u r not using the wood? I am looking into these as right now I am using natural gas for heat and I am wanting to get rid of natural gas

As a fellow Classic 6048 owner Ive debated upgrading to this when mine fails but one thing still has held me back. I have 18 acres and about 50 more surrounding my land and its 50/50 pine and hardwood forest and I also have a direct connection to a sawmill so I get truck loads of pine sawmill cut offs for free. I dont know if id want the gasification because over 50% of my wood I burn each year is pine and I feel that these new gasification units are great on efficiency being 1/3 less as stated but dont particularly like the pine. Another thing is I barely run my wood splitter having the ability to run the classic I dont need to burn split wood I can throw whole rounds in as you know so I would have to upgrade my splitter since these units need split wood... so Im split decision if I wanted a classic edge or another classic...

you can burn pine in the new ones you just have to adjust the settings a little my old 5648 leaked and I got a 760 to replace it I have tons of pine already split for my old boil so I decide to burn it in the new one it does fine it took a couple weeks to fine tone it and everything but it runs great now but you do have to split the wood down you can't just throw big chunks in that does take time

Great point- that is my biggest hesitation too- I burn a bunch of pine AND I try so hard to only burn properly seasoned wood- but I fall behind often so being able to put in some partially seasoned wood in a pinch is a nice benefit of the 6048. Yesterday I put in a huge 4 foot round and its still burning away today!

@@Homesteadhow you can burn green wood, you just have to split it smaller. 6”-8” like your dealer said for properly seasoned wood. A lot of guys around here say playing card size for green wood runs fine in them. Make the switch man. I did this year, you won’t regret it

Can u Use it to heat up water to use for all the steam radiators

I run the radiant baseboards in my house with a classic edge 560. It works fantastic. The heat exchanger is different than the radiator style that goes in the plenum of a forced air system. You want a plate exchanger. It’s the same style you would use for hooking up to your water heater, just more plates. I run a 20 plate for my water heater and a 60 plate for my boiler heat. Tie into your return line of your propane boiler so the water is heated before going into your to the propane boiler. I think the channel is Alternative heating and supply. Jeff luff is the fellas name. He has a good video on how it is accomplished.

Hey I’m new to the channel. I’ve been using a 60 48 classic boiler for many years. All of a sudden it’s leaking water from underneath. So I’m considering buying one of the ones you had in this video. Was curious if the entire unit is stainless or just the firebox. Thanks for sharing your videos.

@@ScottyLo my understanding is the firebox is stainless and the water jacket is mild steel. I believe the Heatmaster g series is 100% stainless though

@@ScottyLo no problem. I will say I ran an old mild steel woodmaster 4400 with no issues. Just made sure the proper levels of anti corrosion were in it all the time. That being said, it didn’t scare me away from the classic edge. I called the heatmaster dealer and the central boiler dealer in my area. The central boiler dealer answered the phone and gave me all the info about the unit. The heatmaster dealer never answered the phone or returned my message. So I bought the unit with the better dealer support

To give an honest review, don't become a salesman's friend, thoroughly question them about their claims instead. Enthusiastically patting them on the back and "wowing" their claims is not a review. At $10,000 a shot, we want to see the tires soundly kicked, not have you wash and wax it for the salesman. Meaningful questions would have been nice. One meaningful question that you could have asked, for instance, is just how many kwh's this boiler consumes in a day. The boiler looks first class, but viewers deserve a real critique. Saleman, you know, really don't require any assistance pumping their products. BTW, did they give you any of that popcorn i see in the background? 🍿🍿🍿

In the 1960's people wanted to get away from shoveling COAL into the furnace and get something more modern. SO the OIL furnaces became popular where there was no Natural Gas. Then the ENERGY CRISES of the 1970's . Yikes There are so many options for you young folks today. My old Burnham Oil Fired built in the late 1980's and I can still fix it if/when needed. Those Outdoor ones look great but its TWO times a day when it's MINUS 2F outside so have the overalls ready by the door.
