I used LB Jeans yarn for my first cardigan...worked up great and very soft. I was disappointed when I saw they were discontinuing the yarn. I haven't seen it in stores in quite a while. I love testing patterns. I always learn so much.

So happy for season 3 of the podcast! I love pattern testing (and have even had the privilege to test for you a couple of times!). I returned to teaching this fall, and one of the hardest things about starting a new job has been forcing myself to not sign up for pattern tests until I've settled in and adjusted to my new routines (I literally had your most recent application open on my computer and had to force myself to close out the window). Hoping to get back into testing in the new year!

Enjoyed your testing info. I’ve been a tester for many designers and am still amazed at some of the things designers do. I’ve had one ask me not to communicate with other testers as she was testing her testers, and even put in intentional mistakes. Another has asked for testers to pay for pattern before testing, then said will refund when completed on time…I’m left handed and Australian, so often don’t have exact yarn available, but I usually manage ok…I have to up my photo skills, I’m a bit lazy there…

Yay you’re back! Love your new space. “Gotta be able to crochet “🤣 never take that question for granted because you never know these days honestly lol. I’m a well seasoned tester for many top designers, and I love helping and working with them. Not sure if it’s just my iPad Michelle but the sound is going high and low, like in and out.....it totally could be my end but something to check out just in case. It's a little echo-y in my bigger space so I'm still working on getting the best sound when I edit. 😁

How do you know if you can trust a tester my family has mentioned to me what if they steal your work what if they take it a publish your work before you put yours out. That's my biggest worry now since my family has mentioned that. There are some things I've made that I wish I knew some people that are different sizes so I know how well it would fit those sizes but yeah I'm a little scared to use pattern testers.

In all my years as a designer I've only had a handful of testers take the pattern and run and never had anyone put the same thing out. It's a rare occurrence. Some designers do like a "deposit" where they have the tester pay $3 or $5 before the test and they get it back when they've completed the test. I usually just hope for the best. Once you do a few tests you'll have a good group of testers you know that you can trust.
