Technology does not unilaterally shape society. Philosophy, culture, and religion each play a significant role and are ignored in the video. As a christian I know there will be a large part of society that will reject any change such as this, but my beliefs aside humans have always questioned what it is to be human. Think of every historic society, philosophy- not technology- was the driving factor. In fact, humanism is part of what shaped European society and helped it advance so quickly through the renaissance. The catholic church largely funded science at that time. All this is to say that the most important evolution of any society is always philosophical first. Its not addressed well here and I think most humans will begin to lose identity with their past if these changes were to happen and that would destroy culture and philosophy which will destroy the progression of the species. Sure some half human half robots or lizards may live but they will not identify with any of the philosophical or cultural markers of humanity. Why call them human at that point? There will also be a large sect of society, especially the religious sect, that will shun such organisms all together.

If evolution was correct, why haven't bananas either curved fully into a circle or straightened? Why are zebras not fully black or white? Why do most animals move on legs, but none on wheels?

Evolution is directionless…there is no goal which you presume. Additionally, nothing has to continue to evolve if no additional environmental pressures are placed on it. Bananas would be a good example of this. The evolution history of the development of land animals preclude the direction will not lead to wheels….but rather legs…again directionless as evolution fits the need of the current environment and selection responds in kind. As for zebras…..stripes currently provide several benefits that being fully black or white would not give. It would be detrimental for zebras to lose their stripes. Your questions you ask are the wrong questions in inquiring if evolution is correct. Evolution happens is determined from many different established data….ERV’s, nested hierarchies, fossils, genetics and so forth. There are plenty of online sources (or free books at your local library) to educate oneself.

As a result we may stop evolving, or even regress whilst other creatures continue to evolve (or go extinct) to take advantage of a more human-centric world and therefore we may inadvertently help create a super-human predator like a virus, pest or super-intelligent cat or simply become extinct? In a way the passivity of domesticated animals is an evolution of sorts. After all no one can dispute that the chicken is the most successful bird in a Darwinian sense. I guess on the other hand, if we were to keep evolving we would eventually evolve into something that we would no longer consider human. Perhaps the mental and physical "abnormalities" we consider need "curing" are minor steps in the iterations towards a new species. But as stated earlier in a "human-centric" world with an Adam-Eve archetype, we would actively attempt to remove or "correct" such aberrations ... Perhaps bananas, as domesticated by humans in their contemporary form, are kept curved and not straight or round, not due to a lack of evolutionary pressures, but due to economic pressures - who would buy a round banana!?
