The nomad has got to be the best exocraft IMO. It’s fast and agile. You will only have to refuel it once in a blue moon, in fact I can’t remember refueling mine more than twice. It will glide over water like it’s solid ground and you can even make it go underwater by angling it down midair before hitting the water after jumping from an elevated surface. It can go up an 89° incline like it’s on flat ground and can even climb up walls by pressing the front up against them, jumping till the front starts going up the wall, then boosting. It even glides through air at around a 45° angle of inclination to the ground which makes every hill or mountain something you can use to make a trip faster instead of potentially slowing you down in other exocraft. it would be really cool if we had a flying exocraft for in the beginning or just one to have for only exploring the planet instead of just using our starship. I also wish they'd make each of them have more of a consistent and specific purpose rather than them just being kinda vaguely the same.

The Nomad makes an excellent dive boat. When you want to explore an ocean with a long stretch of shallow water before the deeper part, the Nomad will take you out quickly. You can return to the Nomad and board it from below when you're done exploring. My only complaint is that even fully tricked out, it's a lot slower than the Roamer.

The Roamer is still probably my favourite, in terms of versatility. I don't mind the Nautilon as a starter submarine, but agree that it would be great to see a larger submarine option as well -- perhaps one that the Nautilon could even dock inside. The one advantage of the Nautilon is that it works in shallow waters and tight spaces like underwater caverns. The only additional exocraft option I'd like to see would be a proper flying drone with hover capability -- to make exploring rugged / mountainous planets easier.

Get a mount that flies and manipulate it's genes to be a certain size. Animal companions are faster or slower depending on their size Check the wiki to be sure but in my experience it's about finding the exact right size for each body type

Using my minotaur for hazard protection and extra storage makes nasty planets less of a drag. Likewise, as an autonomous gun platform hunting sentinels and defending my settlement are now chores, not life-threatening events. It would be nice to have storage expansion. If you can do it to a ship, a freighter, and a multitool, why not an exocraft?

You can cover ground fast in the minotaur with the jet pack. You can make money fast in extreme weather planets mining storm crystals. You never have to leave the exocraft.

playing this in VR is unreal. I was going all under water in my Sub . just mind blowing. But i have to say. i think i like just exploring planets on foot. these craft are really not practical on most of the terrain. Its so full of hills and crags and Rocks and crap. its not a smooth ride at all. So i just explore in my ship or on foot for the most part. and use my sub

I'm still new to the game but the colossus feels like the least useful so far. I get that it's supposed to be for hauling stuff but overall I haven't had a huge need for that. Maybe I'm missing something but usually the distance between mining locations is so great the added speed that other crafts offer is much more useful, I find.

In Survival game mode, your inventory becomes MUCH more limited, as resources stack to 500 and not to 9999, and the developers make stuff with this in mind too. The Colossus is extremely useful in Survival mode, but kinda completely useless on Normal.

The higher the difficulty the less you can stack It's pretty useless on easy, but on like permadeath it's necessary

I think you have to build the platform thing for it first. Then you should be able to summon it.

I dont use it because the camera and the driving system don't feel fun to me plus since we got our ship in the beginning they are useless in term of speed. I think in a lot of instance the responsiveness of the control is pretty outdated let's me explain - In the exocraft the wheels tends to turn way after the camera - When you shoot the bullet shoot way after we press the trigger same thing when reloading - Same thing when interacting with objects when your on the object you have to wait after the command to pop up and sometime you missing it and it appears in the corner of your screen which drives me nuts for years All of this don't append when ship driving

What I don't understand, didnt try yet: If I build a new bay for a vehicle on another planet, does that spawn in the same vehicle that I already build somewhere else, with it's inventory and upgrades, or is this a different vehicle of the same kind?

The rover is terrible for mining mineral deposits because the beam has not enough depression so it can’t get to all of the ore once the surface level has been collected

Is there are method to relocate / scan etc. for deployed exocraft stations one has misplaced. I did not realize that there is a limit of 5 per planet and whilst using the Nautilon I deployed the max five platforms. I've found all but two buy back tracking and getting lucky. Is there a more precise way to locate deployed platforms?

They need to be much faster. To me they’re useless because of how slow they are. I’ll try to get a mod on PC that makes them faster. They could also add a flying car / helicopter to bridge the gap between slow exocrafts and fast spaceship.

No, they are. They scan for things faster than on foot and better than a ship. In a Minotaur, beating waves of Sentinels is easy and fun; universal protection against all elements and storms and underwater, too. Another example: only Nauitilon can find crashed ships underwater, which are always abandoned (unlike the distress signals, which are a toss-up and you have to make multiple trips to game the system), which people used to find great ships or make cash. And these are only the two I know about. There's more to them than meets the eye.

I placed the base yesterday only through exocraft, even with the freighter exocraft station I didn't get any exocraft, so it looks like you need to place the base and put a platform on it with the right exocraft. I'm not sure about the exocraft summon station, but I put that in there too

You can't add inventory slots to an exocraft. That's why you get the Colossus if you want more space.

I don't like any of them now. Devs severely nerfed them so much that they're nigh-useless now. The Nomad used to be so fast, fun and useful for getting around. Now it just sadly limps around. I'm thinking of restarting a run to get them out of my inventory. That's how bad they are.

Literally is 5 minute job to get a freighter? Its more like 4 hours, you need to play the game for 4 hours then warp few times to get that freighter! And should you restart the game within that 4 hours you will need to start again! Who the hell has time to play 4 hours non stop these days? Hello should really fix that oversight IMO, along with much needed performance fixes, Code optimization all that jazz!

It's only 4 hours for a capital freighter. You can come across any standard freighter in any system just by flying around, they'll warp into it nearby where you're flying. And it's not restarted if you restart your game.
