Everything You Need To Know About FIFA 23 Tactics

Tactics are one of those things on FIFA that can seem super overwhelming. There's so many options and combinations that even trying to copy a style you've seen 100 times in real life can be difficult! Today I'll be explaining exactly how tactics work in FIFA 23, and by the end of the video you’ll be creating your own tactics to play exactly how you want your team to play.
No matter if you’re playing FUT, Career Mode or Seasons, tactics are roughly the same. In this video we’ll be using Career Mode to visualise our changes, but don't leave the video if you play another mode, everything should be exactly the same for you.
We’ll be talking about how to create your own tactics, what each setting can do for you on the pitch & at the end of the video we’ll be looking at creating 5 iconic tactics from some of the best managers of all time.

Summaries of the iconic tactics for you to base your tactics around: Pep 2010 It relies on fast movement of the ball between midfielders and lots of pressing. Possession tactics will also need a high line, so fast defenders are crucial. High line means less gaps between midfield and defence once you press, which you'll be doing a lot of. The last major element is making sure players find spaces to advance the ball. Jose 2010 They played a deep line-up with a set of narrow wingers and a playmaker feeding Ronaldo, Benzema and Di Maria through the middle. This is super easy to recreate on FIFA but you'll need a lot more players focused on winning the ball back. Brazil 1980 Brazil's 1980 team was one of the best examples of how effective attacking football can be. The players were all capable of attacking and defending as a unit, allowing the flair of the Brazil attack to shine through. At times the chaotic commitment to attacking football resulted in a 2-7-1 formation, with two centre-halves staying back while the full-backs provided width to a midfield five. Ferguson 1999 In the 90's Manchester United played a very narrow 4-4-2 formation, with Beckham and Giggs playing more like CM's than LM's & RM's. This tactic is ideal for teams with fast strikers, technical midfielders and good defenders. It works better with a deeper team, but can easily adapt to be more possession focused with a higher line too. Michels/Cruyff/Ajax 1970 The Dutch played total football, with every player contributing to both attack and defence. To pull off total football in the modern era you'll need a squad of players with high stamina and technique.

Imo 4 2 3 1 WIDE is overpowered if you have a supporting LM that stays wide and an attacking RM that cuts inside the box. Then you just cross in with a swerve pass and score. Easy, just remember to have a deep lying playmaker that cuts passing lanes at CDM.

I usually play FUT, but now I'm enjoying a lot career mode because you can modify formations. I did a 4231 where the LM/RM became LW/RW and one of the CDMs became CM. Now I'm doing a 3511, with a strong CDM, 2 creative CMs, a technical CAM/CF with position freedom and a ST. I think it can work well in Italy

Use unique tactics don't use the same ones every season a good tactic is parking the bus with 6 or 7 at the back if your stacked CDM, CBs and fullbacks

I'm using this tactic with Hiberian in Scottish League 532 when defense then switch to 353 while attack. With 3 cb stay low, 2 wingbacks join the attack, stay wide for more passing option and crossing. Then 2 cm, 1 is a box to box to deliver the ball, 1 ball winning midfielder stay in center to improve my denfense. 1 cam free roam to freely move around, 1 striker stay central and get in behind with decent finishing, then another striker with good strength and aggresive conservation to pressing and get the ball back right in 1/3 opponent's half

To be honest, tactics are ass. Trust me I win 50% more matches when simply playing all balanced, like default settings.. Depth 72 with narrow width and wide in offense. All of the player instructions fully balanced and the game just plays much better in my opinion. I tried every tactics there is and I've seen how good and bad it can be. Fully balanced just allows my players to move normally as they want as long you have decent cards no worries

Yeah balanced is op but the tactics are real. I try to make a possession based teams and when I don't have alot of the ball I actually suffer. 5 back Def are tuff and I counter that with 3 at the back and I win easier
