You did not explain the boosting/wealth transfer correctly. That is only in effect if someone is joining your group after the initial creation or if they left their initial group and then are joining yours. A group that is created and stays together does not have any of those restrictions.

the 1kc thing only applies if you leave and rejoin orsomething to that effect, Jagex had to clarify that since everyone was pissed that someone couldn't use a blowpipe till they get an zulrah kill. This would've been an extremely stupid restriction since this would mean that everyone needs to grind out slayer for some bosses, so it kinda kills the whole split the burden theme with GIM.

This game mode will be bringing back myself and 2 friends that have played since the days of pre-GE but have been away from the game for years because of economy issues, among other things. We have always been interested in ironman because it encourages being more self sufficient but since we like to play together we have never bothered. Group ironman will allow us to play together without feeling like we are intentionally handicapping ourselves by not using the GE like we do on our mains.

Using real money for an advantage in a game like Runescape completely turned me off and unmotivated me to push through the marathon length grinds. For anyone who "just wants to play with the boys" the restrictions literally mean nothing. You're very likely going to only be playing with the same small group anyways. The penalties only affect the competitive scene, so I'm all for it. I'm only playing casually with some friends anyways and I fail to see how any of the restrictions affect us at all.

This will make their group completely unviable, so getting a new player into their group/joining another group to stay competitive seems very reasonable - and the consequence of losing all tradeable items seems very fair to me.

i have a question about retaining RANKED and PRESTIGE status on a HCGIM. im aware if i setup a 3 man group and later add 4th person thats left another group we will lose rank and prestige to prevent boosting. my question is can i at a later point recruit a new account off tutorial island and still retain my rank and prestige status. even though the new fresh acc recruit has not been with the group since the initial formation it is a brand new account so boosting isnt an issue. or do i need to find 5 people from the get go and any new recruits will lose my ranked status ? thanks all in advanced

Despite being 2 years late to the party, I'd just like to say that I think this is a pretty neat idea. I've seen a couple GIM in game, but I would love to do this! Only problem is I'm not really good at normal Ironman mode, so I'd probably get annoying in a group for a while lol. Seems like a good mid-tier between main and Ironman though!

I understand that if we kick those two players that we will lose our hardcore status (We only have one life left) but are we able to switch to a three man group for the sake of being on the high scores as a three man group? this quasi co-op in a mmo will have so many problems: absence, arguments, and power struggles will burn a lot of groups out very quickly. I don't think the prestige system will do all that much to alleviate this. I think a souls-like summoning system might be a little more flexible, where groups are transient and help can come and go as called for.

Hardcore ironman group should still just be 1 life per person and remove the hardcore status if they die. Otherwise it would be way to easy for one toxic player in a group to screw everyone over.

The group itself is stil a hardcore ironmangroup, but with 3/5 'points' or lives remaining. This way for groups who like to compete with each other it is still bad even if one person dies.

You could funnel materials onto one account, skill like crazy, and then downgrade to normal iron. Downgrading to a normal iron won't be a thing

Yeah, they said that all current safe deaths, with the exception of safe PVP minigames, are removed, so in a HCGIM, Fight Caves, COX, etc are all unsafe deaths and a player will lose a life every time they die regardless of where they die. I believe the only things that are staying safe deaths are PVP minigames, castle wars, etc, although I'm not 100% sure on that

There should be a seperate HiScore and game mode definition for GIM who Left. These "Nomads" should not have accses to Normal Ironman Status. They are courputed with external interaction.

On a side note: Normal Ironman should get access to new and some of these features. Such as a "Temporary Group" for bosses and raids (same trade and aid restrictions, with the ability to attack the same target and have a chance to claim the loot.)(each drop is rolled between 1-5, once a memeber has been designated to the drop only they can pick it up. And others may not have access unless there postion is rolled.)

If devs did nothing but make sure anything they release can’t be exploited, we’d never get updates. It would be a horrible idea. At a certain point you just gotta live with it and hope the devs can put more time into mitigation on the backend, and not let them interfere with your design ideas.
