I’ve loved Liberia and Sierra Leone since I was a child. Growing up, I watched documentaries about the civil wars in these countries, and I’ve always hoped for lasting peace and prosperity for them. I’ve heard from a senior military friend how warm and kind the people there are, which makes me admire them even more. My one hope is that as these nations grow, they continue to welcome foreign entrepreneurs with open arms and I hope they don't someday see them as threat. We’ve seen unfortunate incidents in some places where foreigners faced hostility, but I believe in the unity of Africa. Sending all my love from Nigeria ✌❤

Probably a lot of videos you can learn about American's on KZbin, but not many where American's can learn about Africa. My sister just hiked Kilimanjaro and went on a safari. Now I'm interested in going. A large African culture is represented in my home city of Lowell, Massachusetts. Thank you for your video's Gano. Excelent job!

The difference between Liberia's recovery versus Rwanda's recovery was largely leadership. Kagame focused on rebuilding Rwanda and engendering a mindset of self-sufficiency. Being a true military leader, he enforced a certain level of discipline. Liberian leadership during and after the war was comparatively weak and undisciplined. I mean, you even had a former soccer player with zero executive experience as president. Yes, Liberia has had multiple peaceful democratic transitions of power as compared to Rwanda. However, ultimately, Liberia has lagged significantly in recovery. The question becomes will this laggard pace of development and the excessive foreign involvement in the Liberian economy drag Liberia back into discontent, confusion and conflict? Only time will tell.

Bro I don’t get that mindset either. I’m Liberian but I agree with you my people have become complacent, comfortable and they’ve given up. We aren’t the first ones to experience something as traumatic as a civil war so there’s no reason for us to encourage such mindset. It wouldn’t take us anywhere.

No it's not, is 54 countries in Africa and I can't think of another one that twice operates like Liberia, plus if you are associated with America your country will never grow, Sierra Leone and Liberia a very influenced by America

Who is it being built for I wonder. Why must outsiders build for Africa Of course if they are African Diasporea that's a seperate matter. Let them understand, that being who they want is fine, but this is the beloved land of Africa. Please treat all your brothers and sisters well so they too can thrive and no outsider extension of big brother's back door ownership state, military bases, dumping ground, or free labour for wealth exploitation on our soil. Be blessed.

SubhanAllah I didn’t know this history AT ALL. I only knew they had a civil war but not why. I think some people just have a short term mindset of living for today. I don't think its specifically because of civil war, maybe in their case it is. But I see a similar mindset here in Ghana. In my community people dont even want to come together to fix roads which will benefit everyone. They rather struggle on the broken roads which will damage their cars and potentially risk their lives than group together to fix the community. Rwanda had a civil war but I dont think they have this mentality and they seem to be doing very well as a country evn though very small.
