CAN YOU PLEASE SPEAK ON THE PRIVITIZATION OF BEACHES. IT'S SO FRUSTRATING AND I FEEL SO RESTRICTED AS AN EXPAT. EVERY BEACH IS LITTERED WITH HOTEL GOONS. THERE IS BARELY ANYWHERE TO SIT AND RELAX WITHOUT BEING VIOLENTLY TOLD TO MOVE. IDK WHERE TO MOVE AS ALL THE BEACHES HAVE THEM.

Ahhh yes… this can be very annoying for me as well. In theory the whole coast is public land but in practice it’s the way you describe it. I found a workaround, not an ideal one, but I wear a hotel bracelet (I buy a pack of event bracelets) and hotel security leaves you alone thinking you’re a tourist. I travel light to the beach and try to not sit too close to the hotel lounges. I’m hoping this gets more attention since it’s very infuriating

🔥🔥Good info Jhon. What about el internet ? Como es el internet ? Es rapido, lento ? Can we use it to work online and do video conferences for work ? Cuantas companias de internet hay ? Y cual es la mejor ?

Internet is good and reliable with a company called CLARO. They provide installations with optical fiber so they offer good speeds (not comparable to the US of course). For instance we have 40 MBPS download speed on our Airbnb units and it works great. Perfect for Netflix and working from home including video calls. There are other companies but honestly I wouldn't bother with them! I think their highest speed plan is 100 MBPS download for residential plans.

Juan, what is it like for winter vacationers living in Punta Cana from December to April (snowbirds)?? How does it compare to places in Mexico? Is it possible to rent away from the crowded and noisy tourist and cruise ship areas? How do you find out good health insurance especially over age 65?
@NittyGrittyTravelers Жыл бұрын
We own two apartments in El Cortecito, and many of our neighbors are snowbirds 🙂 The big appeal of the area is its local feeling since most tourists stay inside resorts that are self-contained. We wouldn't know how it compares to Mexico, though, as we've never been. I would rent in El Cortecito or Los Corales, which are great places to stay without having to rent a car and have many small restaurants, shops, etc., within walking distance. Over age 65 is complicated insurance-wise, so I believe the best option would be travel insurance acquired in your home country before traveling.

@@NittyGrittyTravelers Jhon I am still confused about the weather/climate situation year round as it compares with say, Miami. Some people say that the summer in the DR areas is even more like a sauna than Miami, and even the wintertime is very humid. Can you describe the situation? Thanks.

I own lots of real estate in the USA. When do you think Venezuela will be a good place to invest again?
@NittyGrittyTravelers2 жыл бұрын
Hola! I wouldn’t venture to give investing advice. We have noticed real estate prices going up in Venezuela recently though…

Will you please recommend health insurance company in punta cana Thanks
@NittyGrittyTravelers3 жыл бұрын
We like Seguros Universal, just make sure to acquire a good (expensive) plan since that's where the difference is between good and bad insurance in DR.

Hola, muy buena información. Me gustaría saber cómo se vive en punta cana en tu propio apartamento? Y cuánto cuesta un apartamento sin lujos en un lugar tranquilo??
@NittyGrittyTravelers2 жыл бұрын
Hola Patty!

Also, please recommend some furniture store my preference of furniture modern.
@NittyGrittyTravelers3 жыл бұрын
Hi, Margo :) we recommend Ikea. Arbaje Sony and Ilumel. There are some other but smaller stores with very nice pieces. Please note Ikea in Punta Cana is delivery and pick-up only since their main store is in Santo Domingo.
