I was at SNL when Nirvana played in 1992. My friend Dave was an intern there, who later played Officer Doofy in Scary Movie. He got us in and we hung out in the Green Room. Nirvana was there hanging out and they were very nice but seemed kind of freaked out from all the attention. I went to the bathroom backstage and walked past Dane Carvey and Victoria Jackson. Very memorable night.

RIP Sinead, and Jan. Jan you were so funny. And considering the climate now, very edgy. Sinead was years ahead of the wave of abuse allegations making it to the public. What she did was beyond brave, it was borderline career ending, and life defining. They should have preserved it, and not mocked that moment. (Although Madonna’s was good) No one tried to understand what she was talking about. Everyone thought it was a feminist thing. Bless her, and I hope she is happy with her boy. The Catholic Church may not like her, but I assure you, God does.

Sinead O'Conner would appear to boos the two weeks later at the Bob Dylan tribute concert. This was the concert where Kris Kristofferson would show his support for her but she instead chose to say to him "I dont need a man to support me!" then proceed to sing the same song she had done on SNL instead of performing a rendition of Dylan's "I Believe In You" which further angered the crowd. Her father who was there that night said to her afterwards, "You just ruined your career tonight". She suffered from many mental health issues during the ensuing years and it's sad knowing what she went through.

I’m loving this series, but the next couple of years following this period begins a dark chapter in the shows run.

Making fun of Waco WHILE IT WAS STILL GOING ON? Jesus. Who says SNL was never edgy?

No mention of “Single White Person” with Pat or Mr. Casual Sex? Mr. Casual Sex had one of the catchiest theme songs…. “He’ll look you up, He’ll call you up, the next thing you know He’ll Knock you up!!”

I was fortunate to find a couple episodes on an old VHS tape of mine. One of them was the Sinbad episode. So, I sat down and go to watch them again. I remember the Death of Superman story. I think I still have Superman #75 in a box somewhere. The last time I watched the tape it had degraded quite a bit. Oh well. Funny Season.

Anyone know why they don't show the Kirstie Alley monologue on Peacock for this season? I always like the Cheers spoof, but I never see the clip anymore. Thanks.

Spade hated how he was treated in the debate sketch after he spent all that time trying to perfect his Perot

They appear to have changed the thumbnail from David Spade to Sinead O'connor. Fascinating. 😅

Excellent time to be an SNL fan! It was all about entertaining people. Nothing like SNL today, where its all about deliberately mocking others and forcing division with personal political and social ideologies in every song / sketch. (Remember when Kate McKinnon sang her whiny cry baby hate song? - you know the day SNL died) I miss quality fun entertainment like in the late 80s early 90s. It was all about fun and laughter.
