The first time you hear one of norms jokes, it’s like watching a drunk guy stumble a tightrope, barely hanging on, then landing a perfect finish out of nowhere. The second time you hear the joke, you realize the guy was sober the whole time, and the joke was that you thought he was drunk.

Norm could careless if the joke was not found to be funny by the people, he simply told these long drawn out stories for his inner child self. Norm Macdonald's segment on the roast of Bob Sagat has to be one of the greatest routines EVER. The producers told him to be as raunchy and filthy as he could be, much like every other comedians they have on the roasts. So what does Norm do? He literally does one amazing old dad joke after another. Half the crowd has no idea what's going on but all the real comedians knew exactly what he was doing, he killed the room without using 1 cuss word or 1 dirty joke, absolutely classic.
