If you ask any watch enthusiast what the most influential watch partnership ever is, without hesitation they will answer Omega and James Bond. Jean-Claude Biver, the watch industry G.O.A.T. that he is, had the foresight to reject the original $50K proposal and instead negotiated up to a $2M deal that stretched far beyond simply a mere flashing wrist-cameo. This bigger deal was a 360 degree agreement that included using Bond for advertisements, promotions, and other additional elements such as limited edition watches. And, that is what bring us to this moment - taking a closer look at the stainless steel Seamaster 60 years of Bond Edition.

As a brand tie-in, it isn't bad. Personally I don't like these kinds of watches though. Give me the originals and let me create my own adventures with it. I'd love if Omega released the original quartz Brosnan watch though.

@@Timeandtidewatches From a watch and bond fan, really excellent, Zach. The wee trivia points about the bezel's 60, and the point that the watch is a reflection of Brosnan's original Seamaster, amongst others, are the sort of nerd food I feed on. Sláinte!

Great presentation Zach ! I absolutely adore this piece and as an owner myself of one, what I love is the wave pattern which is more in line with the original 1993 Goldeneye seamaster. Also price wise I believe 1st July that is to change with an increase.

I respect Omega but haven't really desired any of their watches before, excepting my love for the bullheads (actually more than love, it's an obsession) and the Z-33. I usually scoff at such cynical and childish marketing as James Bond tie-ins, even though I understand it's something that works, perhaps it's because I seriously love James Bond books and therefore I feel these marketing things usually just cheapen it. But this watch is absolutely beautiful. It has distilled so much of what is great about Omega. The shapes are so honest, the colours perfect, the movement is of course absolute peak of the industry, the moiré is pure genius and the absolutely beautiful bracelet is the cherry on top! And the Bond tie-in works perfectly, with the moiré being so sophisticated yet appropriately playful and visual! (I do think it should have some Q-complications added though...) The only big flaw in my view is absolutely no complications. In my opinion now in this century watchmaking should be at a level where _every_ watch above the trinkets should have several proper complications and anything else is just cheaping out and/or stripping the watches of too much functionality for useless purity's sake in name only and really just to chase easy profits. No-one is distracted by a date, even a day-date. They can add GMT easily, and even a simple chrono can be done without detracting from a pure design if they just use their brains and creativity. This was also a beautifully done video, just superb work!

@@patrickjean-philippe7679 For me as well the alarm is the complication I use most. But I also regularly use a timer when cooking and sometimes for work. The date function as well, both day and date. I use sunrise/sunset times (on my Apple Watch, but I'd like to have a mechanical watch with that complication) a lot for doing sports or hiking outside...it's kind of important to keep track of exact sunrise and sunset times for me.

I know its for the 60 year anniversary, but I'm not a fan of the 60 rather then the inverted triangle. I just does not look right. Otherwise (depending on your preference) the only thing that might be considered a downside is the bracelet. For smaller wrist people it might not be comfortable for you. This is the same "issue" the No Time to Die watch has of course since they share the bracelet. Other than that this is a great homage watch to the old Seamaster pro 300m that Brosnan wore.

I have the no time to die version, but i would like to buy this next.. but you need to learn how to wear watches properly..watches should ALWAYS be worn BEHIND the wrist bone. You are wearing the watch waaay too low and its cringey and a big pet peeve for me for improper watch wearing etiquette. 3 things that annoy me when i see people wear watches. 1. when i see people wearing watches on the wrong hand, 2. people who wear watches very loose like it's a bracelet rattling around 3. people who wear watches on or in front of their wrist bone. I cant trust a man who doesn't wear a watch properly.. I dont even do business with them after a meeting. It's enough for me to not even sign a contract.
@marcusflack1523
@marcusflack1523 Жыл бұрын
Hey there, thanks for your opinion. However I completely disagree. This is where myself and so many people prefer to wear thier watches. Pretty sure there is literally no RULE telling poeple how they should wear thier watch on thier wrist. (feel free to point me to the goverment website that outlines this law) Its down to the wearer I'm afraid.
@AhmadAlAjeel
@AhmadAlAjeel Жыл бұрын
@@marcusflack1523 its proper watch wearing etiquette. Its not a written rule but etiquette. A gentleman's rule. Theres 3 major rules to watch wearing.. watches are always on the non dominant hand, watches always sit BEHIND the wrist bone, so when you move your hand in full circular range of motion the crown doesn't dig into the back of your hand, and watches should not be too tight that it cuts off circulation to your hand, but snug enough to not rattle around when your moving your hand and make noises.. nothing annoys me more than looking at someone whos talking and moving thier hand and all im concentrating on is his watch clanking around and rattling and making noises. Its just annoying to hear and a distraction. This is not a "written rule" but a well known gentleman's rule among watch makers and watch wearers too. There is no written rule that says you cant put your feet on the table while you eat, but we all know that thats improper way to eat and not a gentleman way to eat.

Wow this was a ridiculous post. “Improper watch wearing etiquette”? LMAO. “Wearing the watch on the wrong hand”? How about a person wears a watch on the wrist that makes the most sense to them. Comparing wearing a watch on the wrist you deem improper to putting feet on the table is not a valid comparison. One is about personal choice in how to wear jewelry and the other is about hygiene and food safety. And to your last point, you area seriously going to torpedo a beneficial business deal because someone is wearing their watch “wrong” in your eyes? I mean, you do you, but leaving money on the table because someone’s wristwatch is on the bone sounds ludicrous to me…

@@waltwearswatches3056 yes it is improper watch wearing etiquette. I wasn't comparing putting your feet on the table to wearing a watch improperly hygiene wise, i was comparing the fact that its similar that its an "unwritten rule". Yes i would "torpedo" a business deal, with a person improperly wearing a watch, a big part of doing business is trust, and i cant trust a man who cant wear a watch properly. first impressions matter, how can you trust a person that careless that they won't be careless in buisness? If hes right handed and going to wear his watch on his dominant right hand and hes that careless enough to scratch up his watch bracelet on the table writing, if hes that careless about that, what else is he careless about? Or if hes going to wear his watch so loose like a bracelet sliding and rattling around and distracting people, then how would anyone even pay attention to his pitch? If someone is that careless to know how to wear a watch what else is he careless about? I dont mean anything negative to this video with what im saying, im just letting you know its improper watch wearing, its an unspoken rule to watch wearing..its always on the non dominant hand, and behind the wrist bone and not loose like a bracelet. It actually IS very distracting to a horologist seeing this. To be honest even in videos, if i see a watch video of someone wearing a watch improperly i automatic X the video and watch another. I'm just giving you advice for the future, it IS a distraction to see it and cringe and a pet peeve to a lot of people even, not just me. So just for reference as an advice, for next time, just try to wear it properly if you're going to show a watch, because it will distract the viewer from what your saying and you will lose them
