In the CP papers, can you use the FP1 vector methods to find perpendiculars / lengths etc?
@BicenMaths5 ай бұрын
Yes definitely! They should be trained to look out for this!

Hey sir going into year 13, but may I just ask - how easy was this paper this year such that the A* grade boundary was 72/75?
@BicenMaths23 күн бұрын
It wasn't that it was easy... it was just that there weren't any curve ball/weird questions, and SO many of them were 'show that' types, so that you knew very quickly whether you had done it correctly or not. In my view, the paper wasn't well designed - a 'healthy' paper should have at least one question where people come out of the exam hall saying 'what was that one about?!', to stretch out the top end of a paper. When those types of questions are absent, you get a boundary like 96%, which isn't helpful for students at all.

should I just skip out numerical methods with ODES? I think it only came up for the 2022 cohort for the A level?

@@BicenMaths I wont take the risk then! have you seen the disgusting ellipse question for FP1 from the old spec 2014 paper Q6? qualifications.pearson.com/content/dam/pdf/A%20Level/Mathematics/2013/Exam%20materials/Question-paper-Unit-FP1-(6669)-June-2014.pdf

can you just quote that ps+ps'=2a without needing to prove it?
@3danart3 ай бұрын
You could say PS = ePD and PS' = ePD'. Just takes a Lil bit longer, but I saw this in the mark scheme, so I know you can do that
@BicenMaths3 ай бұрын
You can probably just quote it if it needs to be used, but I'd anticipate a part of the question helping us set up to get to it! Good luck for later!

If I’m a bit low on time would you recommend watching this and then just doing past paper questions or do I still need to go through the book
@Me.is.Malhar3 ай бұрын
go through the spec once, and through a revision guide if you got one. textbook is long and the questions arent stellar; focus on getting exam paper practice in.

@@Me.is.Malhar there aren’t really any guides for FP1 unfortunately… this is probably the only compact resource
