Thanks for the video, this is extremely helpful info. One comment about pasting into vi/vim: make sure you are already in Insert mode before pasting by either hitting 'i' (insert) or 'a' (append). The 'a' in 'api' is actually interpreted as the append command, which is why the 'a' doesn't get copied. It may also be beneficial to run the command ':set paste' to make things paste cleaner.

Can you share any tips on how to do restore with etcd remote?
@ascode-com
@ascode-com 2 жыл бұрын
yep. if you ever get caught up in configuration, reference the working clusters / manifests and compare between them. restoring etcd i would reference this page on the k8s docs kubernetes.io/docs/tasks/administer-cluster/configure-upgrade-etcd/

Great video Jedi. A quick question: If the task is to upgrade a cluster and its components including kubectl and kubelet to, lets say, v1.24.2 from v1.24.1, and when I try to upgrade kubelet and kubectl, it errors out with the following messages: E: Version '1.24.2' for 'kubelet' was not found E: Version '1.24.2' for 'kubectl' was not found What could be wrong here?
@ascode-com
@ascode-com 2 жыл бұрын
are you adding the ending "-00" as in kubelet=1.24.2-00? try running these exact commands from the docs kubernetes.io/docs/tasks/administer-cluster/kubeadm/kubeadm-upgrade/#upgrade-kubelet-and-kubectl-1

Hey thanks that was very informative! Do we need to dive deep into kubernetes the hard way or kubernetes the kubeadm way is sufficient to pass the exam ?
@ascode-com
@ascode-com 2 жыл бұрын
absolutely not! kubernetes the hardway is really overkill for the exam but i'm sure it'll give you a solid understanding of the k8s internals, although i've never done it.

Hey man quick question. Since it changed to fully remote desktop now does that mean we can't use premade google chrome bookmarks anymore? I'm taking it this Friday and my plan was to sign in with a chrome guest account that only had my k8s doc bookmarks for quick reference, but if it's fully remote desktop does that mean you can only use the browser provided in the remote desktop?
@ascode-com
@ascode-com 2 жыл бұрын
yes that's correct, because it's a fully remote desktop you won't be able to keep any of those bookmarks. So make sure to memorize the important things you think you'll need. good luck with your exam on friday!!
