Everything You Need To Start Playing Hybrid Firebrand in World vs. World

-- You've heard of damage, you've heard of support, but a number of WvW groups have recently switched to using hybrid builds that offer a mix of both attack and defense, as a way to extract as much damage as possible out of a squad. In this video, we cover one of the foundations of this style of building a comp, the Hybrid Firebrand, a blend of traditional Minstrel support and DPS burn guard roles.

Wow, you have a lot of melee interactions in your vid. Most wvw fights I've encountered, except havok ambushes, are 90% ranged except on a hard push.

Hybrid Firebrand only really works with groups that melee push, so I intentionally chose a few guilds to play with that I know could utilize it. I think most of this footage came from either Strike Force, [SF], or Stop Farming Me [bags]. Both guilds that I highly recommend, if you're on NA and looking for people to play with who favor that kind of playstyle.

Why advance over hallowed ground?

It's two sources of Aegis, which benefits your Shattered Aegis. But more importantly, the primary source of Swiftness in a WvW party is from Guardian Staff 3. Since this build doesn't run Staff, it needs to recapture Swiftness from somewhere. You *can* do that with Febe, but then you're putting your Immob clear on cooldown. Or you can just use Advance, which is my preference.

the problem is you lose a lot of support for your party on that build :)

You do, which is why it gets paired with Renegade (extra Stability and Resistance), and maintaining a dedicated support to make up the healing loss. You do have to comp for it, but if you do, it's quite good.
