Thanks for the comment and you are welcome! I hope it helps, I had to do a bit of searching for everything before we went and I was a little disappointed there wasn’t more info available.

so helpful! i plan on following your advice for the first two campsites on my upcoming weekend section hike! (and then maybe every single one after that! ha)

😂 oh man I wish I was going back already! Are you going to video any of your hike? If so, I’ll definitely watch! Northbound or southbound section hike? Hope it’s a great hike!

@@hikingwithrae hey - thurs night thru saturday i did miles russell bridge to courthouse gap (so i'm going nobo). took the spur to pinnacle knob, so along with the ch gap parking spur i did 25 miles. camped around 7.5 the first night and at 19.5, just before martin falls, the second night. LOVED the second campsite. i don't have a youtube and have never recorded anything, so not sure where to start there. this section of trail was pretty moderate but it still kicked my butt! a lot had to do with the nearly 10 mile water carry friday...in 90+ heat! hoping to do another 3 or 4 day section (or 2!) in the next month - figuring as i get up to the high country, it'll get cooler as the summer gets hotter.

@gabriellesaulsbery4253 yes the heat right now is unreal! But that sounds awesome! I want to go back out for NOBO but I definitely am going to wait until it cools off.

Thanks for all the Bartram Trail videos. I and 2 friends finished a few days ago, and your daily videos were helpful to see what campsites I’d planned to use. Campsites big enough for 3 tents was my biggest concern. We managed, but a few were REALLY tight. I also used the Bartram Trail Data Book, which had campsite and water information…as well as turns and points of interest. Instead of carrying it, I scanned it into my Notes app on my phone.

Thanks for the comment and I’m glad the videos helped! I need to get that book bc that would be incredibly helpful information. Thanks for mentioning it because I didn’t know it was available. I only saw the maps.

@@hikingwithrae I don’t recall seeing the data book on the BT website. I think I found it on Amazon. Title: Bartram Trail by Thomas G. Reese I would not have wanted to do the trail without this book!

That’s how I feel about the maps and they don’t even have everything! Thank you for letting me know the book!

I'll note that the one campsite at 7.5 ... the large-ish tree on the ground just past the fire ring - it came down within about a couple feet of my mom's tent at 4 in the mornining with no wind ... when we finished the Bartram last year. So, my biggest warning is to look for widow makers! The Bartram is a tough trail - especially the North Carolina section. You just go straight up and down those mountains!! I'll agree - water sources were scarce - we just grabbed water every chance we could. But we also did it as a section hike - over the course of 4 weekends. Great summary video! :) kzbin.info/www/bejne/pauZo6JoabN1rbMsi=MZjFCoBNOhefofcY&t=79 (this shows that campsite at 7.5 that morning when the tree fell).

Holy moly! I watched your footage and that is scarily close! I'm thankful it fell where it did because that is downright terrifying. And we felt the same way - incredibly hard trail but good Lord, North Carolina section plays ZERO games. How did you feel about Jarrett Bald? LOL it couldn't have taken me more down mentally and physically than it did! Thanks for the comment :)

@@hikingwithrae oh that climb was AWFUL!! That was our last day ... 15 mile day to the car. I think the only thing that kept us going was knowing our car was at the end of that! I'm sure I was whining and complaining because just when you thought it was going to end - you look up to see MORE CLIMBING!! If you aren't mentally strong - I feel like the Bartram could easily break anyone. And if it doesn't break you mentally - it'll definitely test you physically! Happy trails :)

@roselee_explores 100% agree with your entire comment! That’s funny you had the car to the look forward to. I was thinking about Franklin and carbs the whole time and trying not to focus on how tired my body was! lol and you’re so on point - if you aren’t mentally strong, you would want to give up on that northern section.
