We wanted to stay at one of the lakeside primitive campsites at Keowee Toxaway State Park BUT it did not work out quite like we imagined. Great campsite but we did not stay the night. Hope you enjoy our somewhat silly adventure!
Thanks for watching!

July is almost over. Every trail I'm hiking around here feels like jungle/swamp . But I can't wait to climb up to higher altitudes of our state!

Yaaa, I've got a few nights to spare, think I'll head up that way. WAIT, you have to have reserved sites? Crapola. Oh well, think I'll try it anyways. Nothing like helping one month fade into another.

We camped there once ... lots of boat traffic even into the evening and early morning. It's a beautiful day hike but I can't imagine camping there again! Great video :)

Honestly, that was my concern with staying and waiting to see if they were going to leave at a decent time. I was worried it would keep going into the evening... so thank you - that makes me feel better about dipping out! And thank you!

So pretty there! Raven Rock loop was the first hike I did after moving to the upstate.

It’s a really nice trail! I think I would enjoy it more in when it cools off but this place is beautiful. Have you been to Jones Gap? It’s probably my favorite state park, so beautiful!

LOL - I went through the same experience myself over on the Foothills Trail this past weekend. I wasn't distance hiking and it worked out that I got to my second night's camp destination waaaay too early. Eventually ended up packing back up and headed back to the house. LOL

HAHA! It's hard for me to justify staying if it's so early that I can pack up, hike our, and still make it home before it's late.

Sorry to keep posting, guess I should have waited until the video was over before responding. I'm like you, would prefer to hike all day, before stopping for the night. Hike, hike, hike, throw the tent up where you can find a decent spot, then relax. Kyle seems like I'd like to share a sip or two with! Rest assured - when I stop, I do like to CHILL!

Yeah I've realized I'm not so good at the "chill at the campsite" thing when I'm on a backpacking trip. If I'm aiming for that then it needs to be an actual camping trip LOL. And Kyle does like his beer HAHA, that's exactly what we did when we got off the trail - beer and burgers!

I don’t blame you all for packing up and leaving, I probably would have too! I couldn’t take all that noise, since the entire reason I go hiking and camping is to escape all that.

100% agree! That's why even standard campgrounds can be iffy for me nowadays - you never know who is going to be there. And some people like to blast their music, I literally do not understand it.

What book did you bring to read? I always bring a book, but 9 out of 10 hikes, i don't even pick it up! But when it's raining all day, I'm glad to have something to read! Currently Zorba The Greek

I brought (and am still reading) South: The Endurance Expedition. It's about the expedition to Antarctica. It's a good read, but I haven't been setting enough time aside to read lately. Work hours are too long, and then hiking and running have become more priority in my down time.

That was way too much noise. Totally ruins the whole point of being in nature. I don't blame you leaving.

Yes it was a bit unfortunate. We were really looking forward to camping there. But oh well, now we know!
