I'm glad I found your channel, I bought my Black Ford Ranger Sport used June 2021, 89,000 miles, 4.0 L engine, 5-speed manual, 4x4, made in Detroit and sold in Canada then made it back to the States. The truck runs well, shifts fine and the four wheel drive function is perfect. Mileage which is mostly mixed driving is 16-19 mpg I don't baby the truck it has great acceleration when getting onto the on-ramp to enter the interstate, and shifting between 3,500 to over 4,500rpms from 2nd through to 4th I find sometimes leaving the truck in 4th and cruising at 70mph close to 3,000rpm is fine. The Sport package must be what allows the truck to ride firm which I like and handles quite well too. I took out the plastic bedliner, repaired the rust, had a tonneu cover installed then decided I wanted more room in the bed so I had a topper installed. I also repaired a rust hole in the drivers side floor and floor of the same side behind the seat, I used fiberglass to repair the holes. The hole in the bed was large enough I bought a piece of metal, had it bent to an L-shape to run down the front of the box and go behind the wheel wells which I attached with metal screws into good metal, then caulked the seams on top and underneath to seal it then sprayed the whole inside of the box with Herculiner which came out really nice with plenty of gripping surface so things don't slide around. The Hurculiner has held up really well too, I've loaded/unloaded many things and no peeling. Finally I used a groil recipe I found on youtube to undercoat the entire truck, twice, and made sure to drive on crushed rock roads with plenty of dust, the groil and dust seems to be holding up well as winter is almost over here in southern MN, about an inch today but mostly melting. The truck has manual door cranks and air conditioning, it's exactly what I was looking for in a Ranger. The previous owner added LED headlights which are nice but even with the truck turned off I can't seem to get rid of the static on AM, FM is fine I thought the dealer was asking too much but I bought it anyway at a little over $16k. I'll be watching your channel to see how your truck is doing and finding ideas, Thank You! One more thing, I changed the PCV valve, I had to do some searching and found its on the drivers side back of the engine behind the valve cover and its the expensive one with a heater, local parts stores didn't carry it, I bought it on Amazon, somewhere under $50.

True but not true , most people pay too much for tires because of the brand . I paid 700 $ Canadian for 4 Toyo Open Country tires for my Ranger . And those are one of the best rated tires ever made for all around driving . Not the best in every category , but 3 out of 5 for every condition from road to mud . While every other tire was better at one thing and one thing only .

How do you think a 17x9 wheel with a -18 offset and 4.5 back spacing would look on 33 inch tires that are 12.5 inches wide? Do you think it would poke too much or be just right? Curious because I'm looking at rims and tire with these specifications for my 2010 Ranger but its difficult to determine how it would look. I like your stance but if I poked a little more that would be fine. I really don't want to go beyond 1 inch of poke. Your stance or half an inch of poke would be ideal. Open to all viewpoints from everyone.

It's a very nice truck how reliable has it been for you? I am looking to get one really soon but it isn't a 4x4 just the sport so you'd think it would be worth it still? 🤔
@6speedfletch2 жыл бұрын
Depends where you live. The 4x4 is near necessary in snowy climates. My truck has personally been a tad bit of a lemon to me. But that’s mostly due to it’s rough past life as it’s engine blew up, was parked in a yard and got picked apart basically and then auctioned off to the shop I bought it from who put it back together. Otherwise it’s been solid and I hear the 4.0L’s are good for 350,000-400,000KM! Just routine maintenance for both the engine, drivetrain, and body and you’ll be mint
@johnyboy36062 жыл бұрын
@@6speedfletch I live in California so I won't really need the 4x4 in that case it is a nice option, and your right does depend on the previous owner. Thank also for the reply I have been hearing these trucks can last a pretty long while with simple maintenance could use one just for work.
