I'm a student at SUNY ESF, watching this I just wish students would talk more about the history of racism at SU. Especially the latest protests where black students were being starved by DPS and suspended for having a peaceful sit-in. Yes this is a good school, if you are WHITE, minority and international students are not protected by SU and often feel unsafe because of the constant acts of discrimination that DPS does nothing about. Know the facts before you decide to go here.
@adarahobbs9474 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I'm a minority student here at SU and my experience has not aligned with these ones. I plan on making a similar video from my experience as both a syracuse native and student.
@jennynicole63264 жыл бұрын
@@adarahobbs947 You definitely should! SU needs to be exposed for the way they treat minority students.

Yep I'm also a student at ESF and since I'm in engineering I had to take Physics at SU. Obv didn't know anyone so my lab partners were strangers. 2 of my partners kept saying the n word. There were no black people in the lab but it was so uncomfortable. There really is just rampant racism there it sucks

How bad exactly is the situation for international students? I've been considering SU as my first choice but knowing this is as a Filipino is pretty alarming! Such a shame as I was hoping to go for Sport Analytics since they were the only institution that offers it.

This was a really great and thoughtful video Margot! I am currently in college and I can't even imagine having to choose a school without being able to visit the campus. I do wish you got more students of color to speak on their experience, particularly undergraduate students. As a student of color, knowing about the resources and communities at a school was key for me in my decision. But, maybe, the lack of students of color speaks to Syracuse's lack of diversity :/

!!!!!! As a POC at cuse, just know that your experience at this school will definitely be altered whether you're in greek life of not. Unfortunately, white greek life runs this school and has unfortunately been the source of racist incidents in the past few years.

@@lexi7450 How would you say your overall experience is at 'Cuse as a POC?
@lexi74504 жыл бұрын
@@jayleenv.7975 I would say that my experience had quite a few ups and downs. I would say that because the school is so huge, it's pretty easy to find people to click with, which makes the experience more enjoyable. But racial tensions have been rising at cuse so that has definitely tainted my experience. There's an instagram that highlights different experiences of POC at cuse (@bipoc.syracuse) so that might be an interesting thing to look at. Hope this helps!

The fact that this video does not address the social injustices that happened on campus this year is dangerous and comes across as misinformation. My sister was one of 31 students who were temporary suspended for protesting social injustices that the school administration DID NOT take seriously. PLEASE do your research on what happened at Syracuse before applying to this school.
@MargotLee4 жыл бұрын
absolutely agree. for those of you who want to learn more about this, you can search “Not Again SU” into Google and read about what happened or follow @notagainsu on IG. I’m not trying to hide it, but since I did not have personal experiences with it, it didn’t feel right to speak on without having the full story. I’d encourage your sister to comment on this video with her experience so everyone is aware of it if she feels comfortable X
