1. Don't buy a drink for a girl who has not ALREADY sat down beside you AND already engaged you.

In regards the story u told of the old guy in the Gogo Bar who bought 4 shots for the girls...Something like that happened to me earlier this year in Pattaya. I bought a drink for the girl,.(it wasnt a shot. I never buy the girls shots). But she literally skulled it in front of me so she could go sit next to some Japanese guy. I refused to allow her to get away with that. I complained to Mamasan and the girl had to give her drink ticket back and I was not charged for the drink. If we let them get away with this behaviour, it will just happen more and more.

Ha ha I had same twice both Japanese the 2nd one I made a deal he buy her drinks and she sit with me 50% of the time she said OK. Did it for 3 drinks then got bored but good fun.

Yep exactly the same thing happened to me except she didn't sit with me, she drank my drink with a Korean guy. I just told the Mammasan and said i wont pay. She then told the girl to come sit with me, i just got up, paid my 45b for my coke and left

@@tuforu4 That was a hard read! Anyway, back then it was more like the wild west. These days there are tourist police and no recriminations for reporting rip offs. Absolutely no problem so long as you stay calm and respectful. The girl will think twice before trying the same scam again!

I tried Bolt for the 1st time last November whilst in Pattaya. They were great, you only wait a minute or 2, you have driver name, picture & vehicle colour, make, model & rego number so you can keep an eye out for them to arrive. They have different grades of cars for different prices or you can get a motorbike. I went from Soi 2 beach Rd to Jomtien on 1 trip in a primo vehicle cheaper than it would have been for a normal motorbike taxi. Cheers

You can pay cash or add a credit card to the account. I just had multiple purchases on my card this week to Bolt. I was last there in November so now having to dispute them.

Funny Story,, my first time in Thailand, Pattaya, walking in the Bang Koch area there was a lot of clothes hanging at the sidewalk. I assumed they were for sale. I saw a particular tshirt that I wanted and removed it from the rack. A woman came out and I asked how much? She looked confused. I said, I would like to buy this shirt please. She said,, this is a laundry and these clothes are drying. I started laughing and so did she. I apologized and went on my way. LOL

A lot of thais are honest. Last week we were flying to pattaya fr9m chiang mai. My friend dropped his wallet in the airport. When we arrived in pattaya and got in the taxi he got a call fr9m the tourist police. A cleaning lady found it. All his money and cards were returned. Also I went to pay a 200b beer tab at a small club but gave mamasan 2000 by mistake. She quickly gave it back. Now when i see her i buy her a drink. Good karma.

@@JeddieT Yes most Thai's are honest and very friendly people. But it is those few that are out just looking for as stated in this video a 'target' that they know to look for and will get ripped off. Because there are also plenty of poor and desperate Thai's as well. They do this every day and know what to look for, those gullible people to scam. It will and does happen.

Good advice on the booze its easy for me, I simply cannot stand the taste of those disgusting lagers so only go for one drink and take off maybe a second at another bar but the days of beer after beer until oblivion are over and its nice to feel healthier and a higher cash balance on the way home. Honestly I prefer the food, sights, the occasional kitty massage rather than going from bar to bar etc so many beers you just open yourself up to getting scammed or worse!

make photocopy at home of your passport page and carry with you - it come in handy, also sometimes needed when changing money (and yes large crisp bills like $100 get best rate and is better than using ATM)

Whilst it's generally a good principle to not take out more money than you need, it has to be balanced by the fact you are charged for every atm withdrawal in Thailand. Taking out a few 1000 baht at a time isn't economic. Better to take out 10,000 baht (for example) and put any excess amount away in locked luggage before you go out for the evening.

Good advice daz , another entertaining video , for all my years visiting Pattaya, I have never been inside mikes mall , it looks different now from videos that I seen from many years ago, I used to visit soi buakkao market years ago to buy my clothes if I needed anything, good advice about just take our what you need for the evening , but from my last visit late last year there are a many more places taking digital payments from phones or cards , obviously not street food carts or similar , the tide seems to be turning away from cash in the more expensive end of hospitality, just my own observations buddy , keep up your great work , i personally love your hotel reviews , i would love an update on view talay 6 , is it value for money anymore , thanks daz

I never buy Tequila's. For that very reason. They take 10 seconds to drink. No value in them. Which is exactly why they hassle you to buy them. And if i am constantly being hassled to buy them i conclude that the girl and maybe the bar itself is a rip off and i am better off cutting my losses.

I have a story a bit similar to the first one that happened to me over a decade ago in Pattaya. Except in my story that was the mamasan's fault. I bought 2 drinks for 2 girls but Just when the drinks arrived, mamasan told one girl (the pretty one) to go on stage to dance before she even took a sip at her drink I thought she would come back to me after 2 songs or so. One minute after she started dancing, mamasan told her to get off stage and come sit with 3 Korean dudes. I called service girl who called mamasan and I told her I wasn't going to pay for that girl's drink so she needs to edit the bill. She asked why? I said, she asked me for a drink, she didn't even take a sip, you told her to go to dance then send her to another table. I'm not gonna pay for the drink of someone who never sat with me. Mamasan said, "Don't worry, she'll sit with you after" I thought WTF? I told mamasan, I don't need her to sit with me anymore, she can stay with them. I just need you to change the bill. This scammer of mamasan said "oh it's not my problem, talk with the girl and girl" and she left. The girl came and asked me what was wrong. I said I want your drink to be removed from my bill since you're sitting with other guys. She offered to pay for the drink on her own money and I accepted. After, the incident, I stayed drinking with her coworker and a service girl and could see se was checking me quite often. She probably couldn't believe I just didn't accept to be scammed quietly like many farangs when they got scammed in similar situation.

I tried the options for taxi and I prefer Bolt. I did the motorbike thing a couple of times. I won't do it again. LOL A person I met told me about the motorbike scam with 2 people. The driver will try to get 2 fares at the same time by picking up 2 passengers and it's a scam/pick pocket thing. First they pick you up and find out you are a tourist on arrival. Then they get on phone and arrange a second passenger who gets on behind you. It's crowded and the person behind you will fleece your pockets and as soon as the bike stops, they get off and run. You've been fleeced and unless you have money in different places, you don't have money to pay the driver. Then things get messy. I will never ride a motorbike again. Don't let someone at a Gents Club call a motorbike or any other form of transportation for you. They act like they are doing you a favor but the price will be elevated to pay the girl at the bar. Always call your own Bolt car driver. Period!! I made friends with one and now only call him if possible.

PASSPORT - I shrink the Photo page and Info page to Credit Card Size, put them back to back and laminate. Each one cost me $2 to make, I have a couple spares and one in my wallet. I will tell anyone - except Immigration, it is an 'Official Card' and all the info is Genuine (I don't say the card is genuine but they always think that). If cops or hotel or whoever wants to keep it to blackmail me for cash... I dont care, they can have it.

In India, googlepay is ubiquitous. From the largest establishments & even the street vendors have gpay facility. Is that so in Thailand. Its so convenient & eliminates all the hassles of cash. How prevalent is scan & pay in Thailand ?

Never seen Google pay anywhere in Thailand, Thais do pay by phone but it's usually True wallet or AIS similar. I would say that Thailand is still 75% cash in most places. People here don't like the idea that Google, or the government know Exactly what they are spending their private money on !!!!

Always have 2 checking accounts from your home country, debit card from each, keep the cards separate at all times in case 1 is lost or stolen then you can transfer cash online from the lost card account to the other and you don't have to wait days for a new debit card!

best way is find good freelancer. Best one I've found and still see is freelancer I ran into in Jomtein by 7-eleven she lives in Pratumnak. No issues no money requests etc. Good ladies in Pattaya are harder to find.

Sage advice as always: Money - Most travel from cashless societies and you’re just not use to banknotes.! Use a small zip wallet for lower denomination notes + A money clip separated for 500 + 1000 baht notes. 6000 is ample to carry around. Bars = Cash even for residents who tend to scan pay for everything else. If you travel in Thailand frequently go see an agent and consider a Thai bank account (5-6K) Fee A very sensible option if you are here for 30- 60 days. 0:34

@@kohtime Only problem would be the $10,000 limit, unless that’s enough for your 9 month stay. Although I believe that’s the limit for undeclared cash. If you declare your amount, maybe it’s no problem. Never had that much on me before!! Safety deposit boxes are available at a local Thai bank, if you get a Thai bank account.
