We used to just find a nice branch , 2 rubbers, and leather. That's all there was to making a slingshot. That's all we needed. And if you think about it, it's really not that complicated. If your rubber is too long or too short, it will still do the job.

11mm steel is the best. For over 15 years of slingshot hunitng experience, i know for a fact that the blunt force trauma is the factor here. If you want to hit a rabbit head consistently you need a good normal mouth bow anchor point. No butterfly style of shooting is included here. Ideal would be 10 mm lead but its much harder to get and more expensive. Over that weight you will get unnecessary trajectory loss. 11 mm steel is 5.5 grams and kills every time if hit in rabbit head. 8 mm steel, 2 grams does not, belive me i have tried. I also recommend 1745 tubes over bands for 11 mm steel. Because you get atleast 10-15 times more shots before they brake. Also you dont have to mess with cutting tapered bands all day long. And the speed is fairly the same compared to thera band gold. So my advice is 11 mm steel and 1745 tubes :)

The greatest thing about slingshooting is the feeling of improvement each time you shoot. My flights are about 25-50 rounds each, and when I begin to miss a lot, I'll decide I'm through, getting tired or just tired of resetting cans and targets. Sometimes a session will be 500 rounds or more.

Pro tip: buy your steel ammo on amazon. I buy 500 3/8 ammo for around $13. 200 1/2 ammo for around $16 I buy simpleshot's die cut bands. I believe I usually shoot 15mm×22mm. Either the 2and or 3rd band width up on simpleshot site works great for 3/8. I use 3rd or 4th size....I believe 22mm-25mm for my 1/2. I prefer lighter bands for more accurate and fun shooting but it will tell you on their site which bands match which ammo size

Bands are going to break, sure, but it sounds like you're having more trouble than you should. If they are breaking at the tie-in, that is likely the issue. What bands are recommended for clay balls? And which caliber is better for shooting feral pigeons - 3/8 or 1/2 inch?
@simpleshot5 жыл бұрын
The band needs to be matched to the actual mass of the clay ball. We group our bands according to steel sizes, so you'd need to convert your clay to a similar weight steel to figure it out. Likely you'd not want more than any 3/8 bandset we offer. 1/2 inch steel is very effective for hunting, but a well-placed shot with 3/8 steel is all it takes. Clay balls are a great idea, but they do tend to vary a lot from one piece to the next. It's pretty tough to be accurate when the ammo mass fluctuates. Just keep an eye on that.
