Some extra notes regarding the tracks: A1: The appearance of Heartaches in the Caretaker's entire discography. This is also the first new Al Bowlly track since WAGROAR. It's also arguably the most overrated track in EATEOT. A2: First appearance of Layton & Johnstone in EATEOT. They first got sampled in AEBBTW, and they're sampled heavily in EATEOT. A3: Second and last appearance of "It All Depends on You" in a major Caretaker album. It's other appearance was in "Pared Back to the Minimal" in AEBBTW. A4: First track to sample Russ Morgan in EATEOT. A5: First appearance of "Wedding of the Painted Doll" in EATEOT. It's sampled heavily in this album, showing up in every PA track except G1 and I1. Also, A5 appears again in K1 and P1. A6: This track actually uses the full sample, and not only that, but it also loops. A6 shows up frequently in O1SA B1: First Maurice Winnick track. the sample also shows up in WAGROAR. It shows up heavily in N1 B2: One of, if not, the shortest loop in EATEOT. It also appears in "An Empty Everywhere" B3: E8 replaced this one in the official upload. The only other time B3 appears in EATEOT is in K1 B4: Shows up in J1SB B5: Last pre-awarness track to sample Maurice Winnick B6: Last track in stage 1 and also the last Russ Morgan track until E1. This track's only other appearance is in K1. C1: first stage 2 track and also Chester Gaylord's first appearance. This track uses the full sample. C2: Lullaby of the Leaves first appearance. It's not as major as you might think, only showing up again in F2, G1, K1, M1, and N1. C3: the return of Heartaches. This version specifically is one of the most heavily used samples in EATEOT, showing up in every album but stage 1. C4: first Paul Whiteman track. he's used frequently in stage 2. C5: Chester Gaylord's final appearance in EATEOT D1: This track actually survived all the way to R1! D2: This shows up in L1 D3: Roger Wolfe's debut in EATEOT. This also shows up in J1. D4: Another Paul Whiteman song D5: Last stage 2 track. This shows up in G1SA also. E1: first stage 3 track and the first appearance of Goodnight my Beautiful since Libet's Delay. E2: The Return of Heartaches and the final pre-awarness Al Bowlly track E3: One of the shortest tracks in EATEOT E4: Samples the ending of Goodnight my Beautiful E5: first track with scrambling E6: A cover of this track's sample was also used in WAGROAR. E7: Albert Benzler's debut in EATEOT. This is the only sample used in I1. E8: Roger Wolfe's final pre-awarness appearance. F1: Also one of the shortest tracks in EATEOT. F2: Final pre-awarness Layton & Johnstone track. This track also shows up in N1. F3: Only pre-awarness track to be primary voices. F4: First track in EATEOT with pitchmapping F5: shortest track in EATEOT F6: The Wedding of the Painted Doll's final pre-awarness appearance. F7: Goodnight my Beautiful's final pre-awarness appearance. It will go on to be heavily sampled in the PA tracks up until P1. F8: Final stage 3, Heartaches, and pre-awarness track in EATEOT. Almost every track afterwards would either use this or C3 for Seger's Heartaches

The wedding of the painted doll or to be more specific, AEBBTW also appears in P1 as K1SB-d/O1SB B2 also appears in K1SE and L1SG D1 is one of the least recognized samples, and it’s strange how it survived to R1 since it’s one of the least used F8 is heavily sampled throughout post awareness stages being one of the most remembered samples

@@FortuneEight__ Here's my theories on why the samples in R1 make it there: D1: The name. Ted Rito This is Romance: A cover of AEBBTW's opening track. It's obviously gotta stay because it's what made the Caretaker take off in popularity. The wedding of the painted doll: Probably an important childhood memory of the Caretaker. F3: Honestly a bit of a blank, maybe the translated lyrics have something to do with it? The Sample's really old so it may have to do with childhood again. Weary River: More of a blank than F3, all I got is that it sounds like it could belong in AEBBTW.

@@ForgottenC2890 i think the reason that d1 survived so long is that the memory was something special for the patient, so special and so sad that he didn't want to remember it. however, the caretaker then forgot how to remember and it just... came into r1, somehow this may not make sense, so i'll try explaining it. typically, remembering a memory too much in this state can eventually be forgotten. d1, however, wasn't remembered that much, so it didn't get deteriorated by the strain the brain was put through for the memory.

My thoughts on Stage 2: Stage 1 but in a more depressing mood. This stage simulates the stages of grief and denial. Memories are long lived, but in more deterioration. C1 - A losing battle is raging: The Caretaker’s battle against dementia. This battle is one that cannot be won however. This battle is *a losing battle, that is raging* on. C2 - Misplaced in time: This track feels eerie and haunting in a peaceful way. It also feels as if it is wailing in pain or suffering, just like how The Caretaker is. Based off of the sample, this is a memory of a lullaby. Melodies caressing the shore, *familiar to me, I’ve heard it before.* C3 - What does it matter how my heart breaks: A1, but depressed. This track always gives me an uneasy feeling like something bad is gonna happen (F4). Maybe it’s the echo or the slower sample, but this track feels like mourning (F8). C4 - Glimpses of hope in trying times: The start of this track sounds like a drone or alarm of some sort. C3 gave me an uneasy feeling, but this one puts me beyond that. This track feels like *hoping* for something, in a *trying time.* Maybe the results are coming in that The Caretaker has dementia. 56:07 feels like wishing for the best, although it is not the case. At 56:30, the wishing turns into the truth, that the results are that The Caretaker has dementia. C5 - Surrendering to despair: After knowing that he has dementia, The Caretaker, full of *despair,* has to *surrender.* This track feels like the mourning of C3, but pushed to extreme. 59:52. -- D1 - I still feel as though I am me: The Caretaker, with dementia, still has not decayed so much yet. The Caretaker tries for blissful times as it’s not that bad yet, but still, there’s horrors left to come. The Caretaker *still feels as though he is him.* D2 - Quiet dusk coming early: This gives me a peaceful vibe. To The Caretaker, the *quiet dusk came early.* As if he has maybe forgotten the perception of time. The higher notes in this song feel as so peaceful, yet still despair is there. The actual lyrics from the sample are truly heartbreaking and just melts my heart in the saddest, yet best way. *I know that sample was chosen for a reason* D3 - Last moments of pure recall: The *last moment of pure recall.* This track feels hopeful, but it’s all false hope. This is one of the last moments The Caretaker recalls a memory perfectly. D4 - Denial unraveling: D3 never could last long, and we’re back to denying the truth again. The start of the track feels peaceful, yet quickly unraveling into uncanniness. This track feels like the final cry of hope before dementia truly takes over in totality. D5 - The way ahead feels lonely: The track of Stage 2. The FINAL cry of hope before we delve into the uncanny valley of Stage 3. The saddest track ever, with F8 and R1 next to it. The emotional mess of sadness in this track makes me want to cry. The Caretaker has to accept that he will feel alone in Stage 3, so *The way ahead feels lonely.* The ending feels so depressing too. (i literally just wrote this when the track ended and Benjamin is back there now) *The way G1 uses D5 is so weird, yet still as depressing as D5.*
@franksmith8445
@franksmith8445 3 ай бұрын
And then after all of that your sadness is interrupted by the blaring violin of Back There Benjamin. (My two cents worth is that Back There Benjamin is when horror starts taking over and you're begging dementia to stay back. The name Benjamin comes from Benjamin Libet, who is the personification of dementia in this album. So I think the title is saying something like "stay Back There Benjamin".

While waiting for the homesick to come in K1, I’d might as well share my thoughts on the Stage 3 tracks: My thoughts on all of Stage 3: The last time The Caretaker can recollect singular and coherent memories. The last time The Caretaker can cry of help before the Post-Awareness stages. E1 - Back there Benjamin: This feels so off, as if The Caretaker is pushing to remember Goodnight, My Beautiful. The strong reverb adds melody that when I listened to the sample without effects, I was actually shocked that there wasn’t melody in the track that was just created by the vast reverb and echoing. E2 - And heart breaks: This track really makes my *heart break.* Minus the pun, this feels so depressing and if the memory is being torn to pieces while suffering. A really broken version of A1. E3 - Hidden sea buried deep: When I first listened to this track, I was trying to remember going to the aquarium when I was just a toddler. I imagined a fake aquarium with just plastic drawings of fish for display. Now this feels like finding an abandoned ship near the bottom of the sea. The Caretaker is trying to remember a memory, but can only recall the first part of it. E4 - Libet’s all joyful camaraderie: Like you said: a more recalled and grand version of E1. The Caretaker has made the final push to remember GMB, which became this. *oh god that one trumpet sounded so much like a voice* E5 - To the minimal great hidden: A5 - Slightly bewildered: Stage 3 edition. This feels so wrong and broken, as this memory was long forgotten but The Caretaker is desperately trying to get it back. The melody of this is too unclear underneath the distorted scrambled mess. So much that you can barely tell when a loop happens. E6 - Sublime beyond loss: Feels like a less echoed and jazzier E4. The Caretaker seems to remember a memory of dancing in a ballroom with jazz music. I don’t have anything to say except that. E7 - Bewildered in other eyes: The memory of being a child. The memory of a lullaby putting you to sleep when you’re a baby. The memory of the ice cream truck coming. The memory of playing on the playground with your friends. The Caretaker is just in these memories, while all his loved ones have *bewildered eyes.* E8 - Long term dusk glimpses: Gives off feelings from the D-side. The first coherent memory in a while, although this will never last forever. This moment of a clarity and bliss is just short-lived. And I don’t think that The Caretaker will accept that. --- F1 - Gradations of arms length: This gives off A6 vibes. A waltz so tender and peaceful. This is another memory that never is fully remembered or starts, similar to E3. F2 - Drifting time misplaced: C2, but timid and forgetting. This memory lasts while also constantly being taken by dementia, with The Caretaker trying hardest to get it back. The Caretaker doesn’t succeed, and the memory falls into the void, leaving just the crackling static behind. F3 - Internal bewildered World: The memory of going to the beach, listening to the waves at shore. Distorted though, having voice-like sounds. The sample is the only one from the 19th century, being decayed and very poorly preserved. The World to The Caretaker is just confusion and bewilderment, hence the title. F4 - Burning despair does ache: C3 but truly burning. This feels like the sudden gasps of air while crying, but you’re drowning. The Caretaker just longs for this memory, with little clarities scattered in the track, only to be lost in the confusion. F5 - Aching cavern without lucidity: C3 or F4 but it’s the void of confusion. I don’t know what this track means at all, literally sounding like it belongs in Stage 6. This is the shortest track in this stage, and in all of EATEOT. F6 - An empty bliss beyond this World: The final clear moment of Awareness before everything crumbles and distorts tragically. I feel like this is also a childhood memory like E7, with just bliss and no distortion. An empty bliss. F7 - Libet delay: Libet’s delay, E1, and E4. GMB was also in the void like F2, with no signs of saving it. It’s just pain to remember now. F8 - Mournful cameraderie: F4 but it’s in the void, or it’s just ascended. The drones in this track feel heavenly, as if The Caretaker is dead before dying. His loved ones have to mourn him before he dies, *Mournful camaraderie.*

Fun Fact about F2: Lullaby of the Leaves is present on American Duettists with Piano (I know this because I have the record lol), the source for tracks such as A2 and B4, but Kirby opted to download from KZbin due to what I think might've a faulty transfer of the LP.

One thing is A4, A5, B2, and B4 doesn't have reverb. Instead, they either don't or have echo. A4's echoes are pretty similar to Libet's Delay ones. B2 and B4 has the echo time (which is 0.375 seconds) Other than these tracks, almost all of Stage 1 uses one same reverb. A2, A6, B1, and B5 has the same delay settings. Even though B3 uses the generic reverb of Stage 1, it has different echo settings. Also, A1 has a static layer which will appear throughout the album a lot, for example, C4. In Stage 2, there is a delay which cannot be heard in mono way. It can only be heard in stereo. C3, and C4 has the same static as A1 had. D1 has different static layer, which can be heard in D4. In Stage 3, this is where scrambling and pitchmap were used. E8 uses the same layer of static which D1 used. F2 has the same one of A1's. Also, F2's effect will come back, later on (J1SA). (Now here are just some of my thoughts) E5 has some similar effects as Tiny Gradations Of Loss'. E6 has some distortions going on there, kinda similar to The Sublime Is Disappointingly Elusive. F1 has some similarities with Camaraderie At Arm's Length. Both of them being the most coherent from their albums. Also, a theory on that Heartaches being The Caretaker's favourite song. His final project was EATEOT. And I guess he really wanted to use a cover of Heartaches as an opening track and the main leitmotif.

My thoughts on Stage 1 (i wanna do this again): My thoughts on all of Stage 1: The first signs of memory loss. The most coherent memories can be. The Caretaker recalls and lives through memories with slight deterioration in them. The Caretaker just sees this as that he is getting old, but it is not what he thinks it is. A1 - It’s just a burning memory: The perfect start to the album. It introduces you to what’s to come and introduces you to the main leitmotif: Heartaches. This track is overrated due to being the opener of the album, but it does its job perfectly. This track was just the one track I heard when I listened to EATEOT. I thought: “this is so weird already” A2 - We don’t have many days: This track is calm and peaceful. The Caretaker realizes his days are closing to an end and accepts that. A3 - Late afternoon drifting: I feel like this is The Caretaker going to run some errands in the afternoon, based off the name. This is like A2, but in a slight lower mood. The sound just feels like drifting off somewhere. A4 - Childishly fresh eyes: This must be The Caretaker returning from his errands and it’s now night. The Caretaker is probably seeing his children now. A5 - Slightly bewildered: The first sign something’s off. The Caretaker might have just thought that he was feeling weird due to old age, but it’s not what he thinks. A6 - Things that are beautiful and transient: It’s a beautiful day and The Caretaker is walking around with his wife and kids, although he seems to forget something, hence the distorted noise at the end of the loop, like A5. (I should also say he forgets this memory, so it’s *transient.* ) - B1 - All that follows is true: The Caretaker finally realizes that it’s really off, but tries to ignore it anyways. Maybe he remembers a ballroom and dancing to music lively. *what was that ending* B2 - An autumnal equinox: Gives off A2 vibes. There’s falling leaves now that it’s autumn. There’s also light peaceful rain. B3: Quiet internal rebellions: B1 but The Caretaker really wants to ignore it. He doesn’t want to accept it as thoughts cloud his mind. B4 - The loves of my entire life: The title is just sad knowing what happens to The Caretaker. He just enjoys his time with his loved ones as he slowly starts to decay. B5 - Into each others eyes: The Caretaker is still enjoying time with his loves and he and his wife look at each other tenderly. B6 - My heart will stop in joy: The Caretaker doesn’t want to accept that he will die to dementia and instead tries to know that he will die peacefully with his loved ones around. He wants to hope that *his heart will stop in joy.*
