Grand Teton National Park lies within the Jackson Hole Valley. There are several campgrounds in the park, as well as many Forest Service and private campgrounds nearby the park. Most campsites are first-come, first-served so you it's important you know what you're looking for. This video goes over all the options.

Thanks for the heads up. I started camping in GT in 1976. Things pretty much stayed the same for over 25 years. First come first served. For the next 10 years I just kept a bicycle in SLC and would commute to GT and stayed primarily in Jenny Lake until they eventually kicked me out. I would stay in the other bike camping areas and return after a few days. I haven’t been back since the total eclipse, this time with a family in tow. This info will come in handy dealing with the current situation on camping.

After producing this video, we were just informed that all the campgrounds will be going to a reservation system in late July. You can start booking campsites on January 26th at 8:00 MST at www.nps.gov/grte/planyourvisit/camping.htm Thanks for letting us know Nicole Meyers! I looked at Jenny Lake for example, it looks like every spot is reserved for every single night until end of season... But you wrote here the reservations start end of july? Is there also first come first serve along with the reservations? How should I go about tent camping without knowing my exact dates?

We sort of mis-typed it; apologies. In the park, your best option is to keep checking for cancellations. Otherwise you’ll need to look at those forest service campgrounds

Difficult to get a campsite. Everything is booked so I can't find one in or near Teton so may have to turn to boondocking! No RV though! Safe for tenters with small cars?

Yes I think so. Try granite hot springs campground.

James, I was amazed as I researched this topic that the information was spread all over the place. I thought the same thing as you: we need a resource with all of this in one place! So I’m looking into making a book with this information, but it will take some time. I’m still new at all this. Lol.

I haven’t yet researched that. There is a lot of lodging in the park and in Jackson. I’m sure you can find something like Airbnb in Jackson. A lot of hotels there as well. Flagg Ranch is between Yellowstone and GT as well.

Whiskey tango… get on the us forest service website. (I think it’s through the usda website)I got a lot of info about camping on there. There’s some info on there about camping with horses in the national forest
